Bulldog fans are like flahriddah tourists. I wish they'd bowl in the stadium with concrete, then I'd get "those young ladies practicing for the bear", to come ride with me in the world's largest bowl. actually, the largest natural bowl is in PA...a bowled out rock sinkhole thing. I have Skate Police Officer JohnnyB investigating for me. He may need some 75a Flashbacks for that. and his Jetson's Space Scooter...(econ57) p

In case any of you are bringing family to the race, there's a neat little free public zoo right there at the park. That'd be a nice break from the action...besides, if you're not feeling the flow, the bears and otters will show you what fun is really about... Laws to break in Athens: skate downtown. look forward to meeting y'all. P@io

According to hearsay from Bob Swarts, the DCDC explanation for the DC Downhill Race being canceled this year is, “Seems the DC cops want a couple of thousand dollars for the required security for the race... instead of the proposed $450”.

Sorry Wes, but we're always in communication with the West Coast riders cause we race with them. Most of them claim to ignore the internet so we actually hook-up via telephone, the old fashion way. Besides, we've posted on speedboarding and events in the last few weeks, so how could any of you addicts missed it? I'll repeat what I told you in my e-mail. We didn't want to share the hill the same day because we wanted it all to ourselves. Is that being greedy? We tried to accommodate you guys the next day. Two events in two days would have been better than two events in one. It didn't happen. Oh well, we tried, but we're not going to cut into our time for anything. More runs for us. I'll admit I don't know s**t about the "DC" slalom scene, but after talking to a few leaders all I heard was, " don't let him run it, let me run it" and other political s**t like that. I was told by one of your guys that G-burg might get shut down. That's not wishful thinking. It would have been nice to have you guys. And come to think of it, two skateboard events on the same day, in the DC region at the same time is actually some sort of progress. I hope we all have good weather, good fun and no injuries. Hope to see everyone this spring at our planned race in Southeast D.C. (that's a challenge)

Anthony Smallwood is a Surfrider Capitol Chapter charter member and has been promoting the DC Downhill Skateboard Association events for years. This Sat. Sept. 7 in Adams Morgan (Wash DC) they are holding another event. The Capitol Chapter was a big supporter last year and provided needed volunteers to help set up and control the race course - this year planned for 15th St NW above Florida Ave on Meridian Hill. If you can volunteer to help Anthony from 8 am to 3 pm, please contact me ASAP. If not, come out to support Anthony and the DC Downhill crew, and watch these guys put in some classic G-force speed turns down the hill in their road ravaged leather suits and aerodynamic helmets - with a few spills and thrills guranteed along the way! It shoudl be an awesome day!

Who's to say the DC Outlaw #5 will be shut down?
Chances are better that it will go on without a hitch.
Perhaps more people from the West would've come to the DCDC III if it had been listed on that there Contest Calender thingy that's been up for 10 or more months now.

Well, let's see. We have the Canadians driving 14 hours, Duane coming from Rhode Island , Reed if he can get a decent fare and a slew of locals. At this point in the game ( our 3rd event ) I really don't expect many of the elite West Coast riders to show but damn, aren't there any downhillers on the East Coast? There's a slalom event the same day at the same time 20 miles away and over 25 guys are guaranteed to show. And chances are they'll get shut down. Here, we have a main street in our Nation's Capital shut down for Speedboarding and NO ONE is even curious? Is speedboarding really that heavy? This is a course with top speeds in the upper 30's to low 40's, so it's pretty tame. I hear leathers are an issue. We have a few extra sets if that will interest anybody.

It would've been nice to have the DCO #5 coordinated with the DC Downhill Classic and splitting usage of the hill. I never found out what the problem was that made it not happen. But that's life in the capital city, I guess.

The DC Downhill Classic is this Saturday in downtown Washington DC. Our honorary Marshal of the race will be Dr. Steven Hatfill who will be distributing the winner's checks in sealed envelopes. The race will be marked by a Sept. 11th tribute, that entails chasing (in lieu of an actual Taliban) a Pakistani cab driver down the course. Sat. Sept. 7th, 10am - 3pm, 15th St. and New Hampshire Ave. call 202 588-5542 for details

So I am back here in P-town and would like to put together a race if I can get up some interest. what I am thinking is a push race across town. Outlaw style where knowledge of the hills would come into play. I have only been back for a few days and already I have seen more longboarders then the whole time on the east coast except for the evnets I went to out there. So that said lets get it together. Hell who knows may be we could attract some out of town tallent to ride. either hit up my email or post a reply here telling me you are interested.
Strength and respect

not sure if you want to head to virginia, but there is a monster hill near leesburg on stumptown road. perfect for serious speed bombing.
turn right on stumptown road off route 15 (in lucketts- about 5 miles south of point of rocks, 5 miles north of leesburg) and go to the top of the mountain. the backside is a gradual drop to a steep straight shot to a long level off section, mostly straight. need spotters.

OK, Gaithersburg Park and Ride on Saturday the 7th at 10am. DC Outlaw #5. As long as Everyone is aware that we have a chance to get shut down.
If we do Im going to go get a burrito and ride pools at Vans.
Longboard practice @ 10am. You guys know the drill. Don't everyone park at the top of the hill spread out a little so it does not look like a party. Also its probably not a good idea to have any street ramps. Keep the courses to the main hill. Typical GBJ rules of outlaw etiquette.
I am still going to go look at a possible hill for Sunday.

Postponing the race is OK by me. I will probably be busy on Sunday until mid afternoon anyway.
We've only been hasseled by one bozo at G-P&R, and each time only after 10pm Saturdays (apparantly his regular shift). I say it's still fine as long as we finish by 8:30pm.

Is the Gburg park and ride an option at all? Was anyone threatened with legal repercussions last time? It seems that there's been several races there with only two busts. We're outlaws....wanna risk it? 10am Saturday?
