California Slalom Series #7 and Downhill #5 Results (California Championship Series date 10) West LA College, California 12/8/02
The 2002 California Championship Series finals at West LA College featured tight slalom racing as well as racing for all the downhill sports with pleasant, sunny weather. The field was the largest of the 10 race series, with strong competition in every discipline. The downhill course was another variation on the "A course", with the straight start, followed by a right turn, a small chicane, and then a hard left that took out a few racers before the finish line. The course continued to produce tight racing, with many finishes up in the air until the last second.
The racers packed a local restaurant for the awards party, where the prizes included 2 sets of Kryptonic Classic K wheels as sportsmanship awards for the day’s tight slalom (2 finishers closest to the end of the field who were at the awards). The grand prize was an Ed Economy Gravity super-longboard, donated by Ed Economy himself, that went to Richy Carrasco for taking the season title in skateboard giant slalom. Richy also took home the Baku Torsion Trucks for the season tight slalom title. The racers who made podiums got medals, and season title winners (California Champions) received nice glass plaques. Finally a batch of T shirts from Sasquatch Skateboards and Pure Guts were handed out. After a great season of racing, everyone is looking forward to more in 2003!

If someone could pass my email address along to Jesse Martinez tomorrow, I was told he was at a taped session at the Santa Monica ramp that was shot in 89. I am trying to get ahold of the footage, cause that was my ramp. I was told that he is supposed to be going. I can't be there, because I am lving in Baltimore now. Thanks, Dave {daves131@msn.com}

We are sessioning at 1pm today at the Verizon building right off the Beltway and rt.50 (just inside the Beltway) in VA. It's the Fairview Park area of office buildings. Follow the signs off RT 50 and 495 that say Fairview Park. Turn left on Fairview Parkway and Verizon is the only building on the left side. Go in the second entrance that is the very bottom of the garage. This entrance is best for reducing bust factor.
Now back to your regularly scheduled 'lighthearted banter'. (Killer post Hamm.)

Cliff, As warm as it is here, I`d give it up for a hill that I can take a drop on and not break a sweat.
If you notice, my weather related posts are usually after another has posted of cold weather. All in the name of banter.
And there is a place just north of you in Marin County that is just yummy...Bolinas (shhhh!!!) that I could just move into any day except my wife won`t come...

Oh yeah, well the weather in Baltimore, is perfect right now.....for sk8ing indoors, and we have hill's, heat waves, mountains, ocean, snow, green daze and not so green days......we suck the hardest....I know you all want some of this mid atlantic weather....
on a different note, sucks about the DC outlaw race being snowed out, I was super amped.
One more thing: brian parson, due to the awesome weather we are having, Tori and I are not going to be able to make the trek down to your throw down tonight. I'm bummed was look'n forward to it, but with the 17 degree forcast tonight, and all the melting snow today, black ice will make for a lame drive, and I still like my 2002 car enough to stay in tonight. really sorry, wanted to come hang with you all. maybe we can all ride van's this week. I'll see you for #2 either way..have a good time tonight.
Everyone else, rock on. Cliff,Brady and all you sunshine bandits, go carve a roundwall for me...

Brady,
You must have posted 40 times or more regarding the weather in Florida compared to other areas. It may be warmer in Florida, but here in the San Francisco Bay Area we have natural air conditioning, i.e. the marine layer. Last month had many days in the 70s with low humidity. I love this area also because we have hills that you don't need a marble to determine which way the slope goes. Having said that, let's get over the, my place is better than your place thing. Where people live is usually a matter of choice. You are where you want to be and so are most of the rest of us.

Congrats to Doug Dupin and his wife Rebecca on the birth of their son Max. After being told to vacate on Nov.24th, the guy finally got evicted via c-section. I wonder where he gets his stubborn genes from? Baby, Mama and Papa are doing fine. Now it really gets interesting!
