Henry's Clinic at Deerfield

Y'all excuse Henry. He's a bit exciteable. He gets this way whenever he knows his true hero and role model Joe Iacovelli is coming to town.
The Clinic is Sunday, April 27 (TWENTY SEVEN.) Ask Henry for the correct times.
He had typed the correct date in one post and then made a major typo a few posts later. He's a kid: whadda'ya gonna do wid' 'em anyway?
And, hey, don't forget to set your clock forward.

Let me clarify a few things for everyone.
First, the clinic is really only for Deerfield kids. Due to insurance issues, I cannot allow any students from other schools to participate. If you are an adult with a kid, cool.
The clinic is on Sunday, April 22nd.
I have had people in the past think Deerfield Academy is in Connecticut, but it's actually in Deerfield, Mass- right off of I91, about a half hour north of Springfield.
This summer, if I can find a hill, I'd love to have regular sessions with people from around the New Haven area.

Doug and Simon,
I tried to reply to your email. It keeps bouncing. Please send a useable address or send me your phone number and I'll give you a call.
The Deerfield thing is complicated (insurance) and I'll need to explain it to you. We can figure out how you can attend, but more importantly what other events will be happening this spring and summer in your area.
We are all anxious to include new people in the sport. We'll find a way to get you guys on some boards.

DC SUMMER OUTLAW SLALOM SERIES
After finally getting a break from a terrible winter, it is time for another season of slalom racing in DC.
Race Schedule: Saturday April 26th – Location: Gaithersburg Park and Ride. Time: 10am. Saturday May 24th Saturday June 21st Saturday July 12th Saturday August 2nd Saturday August 23rd
I am still finalizing race locations and times. I want to try to utilize Seneca Creek as much as possible. And of course continue racing at the Park and Ride.
The plan is to keep entry fees at $0. However, if I can schedule a few races at Seneca Creek then there will be an entry fee of about $2 per racer.
Events will include: 1st Event - Longboard Slalom 2nd Event - Open Slalom 3rd Event - Spec Class Racing
Series points will be awarded for each individual event as well as overall points for competing in multiple events. Points are awarded based on the FCR point system.
By this point everyone knows that these races are 100% outlaw. Skate at your own risk and pads are recommended but not required.
Please email me with questions or directions. Everyone is welcome. Courses will be set beginner friendly.
Looking forward to another great Summer Series.

Ricky, What more can you tell us about the format of the race? Will it be a push start, or will we be using those nice starting ramps you had last November? Any estimate of length of course? Number/spacing of cones? Potential speeds?
Will we need moonscreen to protect us from moonburn? Anybody got any old G&S SpeedSparks? Aaahoooo!!!

This event is coming together. Lighting systems were tested last night. They cast a nice erie Luna feel to the venue. Plenty of light to race by. Permits, Insurance, PA system, Lights, PC based time keeping software (Thanks Paul K) etc. all secured. LSJ T-shirts and stickers for racers and staff should wrap up next week. Staff meeting on April 7th at a local watering hole. Whew...

Grüsst euch!
One more week then I'll be back in SF! I hope there will be epic skatesessions organized the weekend of the 5th and 6th of March and I wish to finish them at the TORONADO. Guiness for strength! Maybe we could run some cones - haven't slalomed since Morro. See you all soon!
Later,

St. Louis Sunday in Tower Grove Park-- Riding with a timer was intriguing. Goad has amassed quite the collection of goodies for slalom skating. He was looking very fast and focused, broken toe and all. Now if he'd only stop running the last cone directly into the grass... :-)
Also, let it be known that Patrick, a.k.a. "The Natural," only went through the timer on maybe two or three runs, i.e. the first couple of runs of the day. Who knows how much faster he went after that? B**tard. :-)
Those of you who come to the race in May can expect a fun but unusual course. The hill looks pretty innocent at first--it's not steep--but it gets trickier as it goes along. Practice turning left...
