Dates and Location:
Sunday, July 20th, Concourse Drive, Pearl, MS

These are outlaw races as it should be. No permits, no coneheads, no course marshalls, no excuses. Minimal prizes, expect nothing but fun, racing and bragging rights.
We will have ramps, timers, computer timekeeping.
These events are focused on new racers, courses will be set with them in mind.

You are correct, G-X. Last official DC Outlaw race was like December 21 - exactly 6 months to the day... Somebody hates us.
I say we borrow Brian's timer and have a mini-outlaw on Sunday. Weather as forcasted from noaa.gov (the REAL weather forcast) for Sunday is partly cloudy and 80f.

I'm going to the Park and Ride tomorrow, and I'm going to sit in the middle of the hill, in the rain, holding my new Roe Crossfire up in the air to see if I can get struck by lightning. I can't take this anymore. Am I remembering correctly that the last outlaw race that wasn't rained out was in December? (not counting the Motel 6 money race?)

I can't beleive it. 80% chance of rain tomorrow.
The DC Outlaw race is reschedule for Saturday June 28th.
If there are any drought stricken western cities that need rain, and would like to sponsor a slalom race, let me know.
If we schedule a race in your city I can guarantee rain.

DC OUTLAW SUMMER SERIES RACE #1
We finally have a dry weekend.
The race will be at the Gaithersburg P&R this weekend. We will start practice for the longboard slalom at 10am.
Longboard racing 10:45-11 Traditional racing - 12 Spec Class - immediately after trad.
Longboard will be the best of two runs - single lane
Traditional will be 2 qualifying runs on dual courses. We will run a bracket of 16. If you do not qualify in the top 16 we will have a b-class bracket of 8 for positions 17-24.
Expect a box start with enough room to get about three pushes to the first cone. The course will be tight-ish simmilar to the one set last summer that everyone liked.
Spec class will be same as traditional. Same course.
Everyone knows by now that this is an outlaw race. Pads are optional. Skate at your own risk. If we get shut down by the MAN there are a few other outlaw spots around Gaithersburg that we can use as a backup.
Directions: Take I270 north from DC to Exit 10 (Clopper Rd). Go to the 2nd traffic light and turn right onto Quince Orchard RD. Go to 2nd traffic light again and turn right into the P&R lot. We will be in the upper left corner.

I totally missed the fundraiser for Surfrider as I got a mysterious e-mail about a long missing poster from 1902. I had planned on attending and donating an old surf/skate movie poster from the early seventies but got severely distracted by the e-mail. I will put the poster up on ncdsa.com and take silent bids. All proceeds will benefit Surfrider. Give me a day or two. Hope you guys and gals had fun and I'll see you at the "Gator" screening.

The same film fest will also have the Boom Boom HuckJam documentary and demo next Sunday...
THE MAKING OF TONY HAWK'S BOOM BOOM HUCKJAM One legendary skateboarder. Twelve of the world's top athletes. Two raging punk rock bands. Six months of planning. Nine days of rehearsal. One jaw, broken in four places. One huge night in Las Vegas. This is THE MAKING OF TONY HAWK'S BOOM BOOM HUCKJAM, a heart-stopping, edge-of-your-seat, out-of-your-head display of daredevil talent. This is a riveting behind-the-scenes look at how the show featuring Tony Hawk and his crew of skateboard wizards, BMX chargers, Motocross maniacs, musicians, models and magicians came together on a $1.2 million customized ramp/track system for a show that had never before been created and that others may only hope to imitate. In person: The screening will be followed by a free skateboarding demonstration by Tony Hawk as part of the Community Day festivities. Sunday 6/22 at 1:00 p.m. Tickets: $12.50 ($10 for AFI members, seniors and students with valid ID, in person only)

Athens Sunday Slalom Skateboard Sessions… In preparation for the upcoming Georgia State Slalom Skateboard Championships, there will be practice sessions on the first and third Sunday of each month leading up to the August 30th race. These practice sessions will help to hone the skills of experienced riders, and will serve as a clinic to help those who are just starting out. We will meet at Holland Youth Sports Complex in Athens, GA. This park is located at the intersection of Newton Bridge road and Vincent Drive(#10 on the map). Here is a link to the map: http://www.athensclarkecounty.com/documents/pdf/leisureservices/facilities_map.pdf Go to the back of the park, past the baseball fields. There is a back entrance to the park that remains locked, therefore there is no vehicular traffic on the road there. This is where we will be riding. We will start at 5pm. Dates; June 15, July 6&20, August 3&17… Hope to see you there!

The NYC Longboard trophy will be up for grabs this Fall at the Broadway Bomb race. The trophy, which will go through perpetual renovation, is passed on to the winner of the Broadway Bomb and then the Central Park race, etc. Thanks to Ian for getting the Stanley Cup of longboard trophies underway. As with last year's Central Park race, Fred was leading into the downhill Harlem pool section of the Central Park course. He slid out at this point due to the slick road, but doing so barefoot and in his purple racing cape, and then cheering me on as I went by, is a different sort of sportsmanship rarely encountered. About a month prior to the race, I was skating this section of Central Park and the police were putting up tape around some dude who doused himself in gas and then suicidally self-torched. There is always crazy s#@! going down in NYC. I'm sure there'll be more at the Broadway Bomb. See ya there. -Doug
