GreenSkate is a grassroots event that started from a simple idea: Celebrate and encourage the low impact of longboard skateboards on our environment as a form of effective transportation.
On Earth Day 2007 Calgary Alberta Canada was the host to the first GreenSkate Event. It may come as a surprise that a community of longboarders surrounded by the Calgarian oil and gas industry would feel sympathetic to any green cause; however the Speedboard and Longboard Association of Calgary couldn't be any more ambitious.
GreenSkate was expanded in 2008 to include the global skateboard community. Diego Alemparte from Chile organized the largest GreenSkate with over 100 + riders that cruised 7.5 km to “La Moneda”. Everyone who skateboards in every city around the world is invited to participate in GreenSkate 2009.
Energy and environmental issues are on the global stage more than ever. Earth Day is a great time for longboarders to take to the streets to promote longboarding as a fast, environmentally friendly and sustainable form of urban transportation.
Be a part of GreenSkate! We are looking for volunteers to organize Greenskates in cities around the world from April 19-25,2009. If you are interested in organizing a GreenSkate event please contact ross.baradoy@gmail.com for more information.

[URL=http://s436.photobucket.com/albums/qq89/Interstate-Downhill/? action=view¤t=sturngrouppic.jpg]' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Click here for link On March 21st 2009, I co-hosted an outlaw event with ‘Boards by G’ on ‘The S-Turn’ off the San Joaquin River in Central California. 10 peeps showed up to race and more than 20 spectators came out and cheered us on. Fun was had by all!! The winner, Geno, was the lucky recipient of a hand crafted longboard by “Boards by G” and everybody’s name went into a hat for the rest of the prizes. The only guy without his own board, raced on a borrowed board and came in 3rd was the lucky winner of the ‘Gravity’ longboard. Now hopefully I can get my board back. (just kiddin Jordan) I would like to personally thank ‘Gravity Longboards’ and ‘Revenge Trucks’ for kicking down swag. Way Stoked!! Everybody got something along with a few spectators. We can’t thank you enough, THANKS!!! And a big thanks to all those that showed up to race, to watch and to help us out for our lil gig, THANKS!!! Results: 1st- Geno 2nd- Sean 3rd- Jordan 4th- Mike 5th- David 6th- Fernando 7th- Mark 8th- Jesse 9th- Barret 10th- Steve Be watching for ‘The Trailer Park Shoot-out’ a 3-man drag race coming in mid-April. Flier to follow And once again, THANK YOU for all that made this possible. Sean Smith

Oh well -- I give up -- ads out of control. More info on the jam can be found on SK8KINGS.COM. I'll forego the link attempt since it only seems to generate an ad instead.
Flyer is below. More info on our site.
Thanks to our Bay Area hosts Purple Skunk and Plank. They have lots of cool activities planned for the event and worked really hard to get the event cleared for the Golden Gate Park locale.
Cheers.
