The Jersey Jumpoff; Annual Summer Madness Jam!
On 7/3/2008 Adam wrote in from United States  (67.83.nnn.nnn)

The Jersey Jumpoff rolls again!!!!!

The Annual Summer Madness Jam!!

After doing the same thing last year, and realizing how fun it was.... I've decided to make this a recurring part of the Jersey Jumpoff. We start at 12 midnight, and skate till the sun rises.

Listen to "Summer Madness" by Kool and the Gang to imagine the vibe for the night. One part hot, One part cool, and all parts good ya dig.

We'll be hitting some new spots this time around as you know I always keep things fresh.

Here's the details, and hope some of you can hang.
---------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------
When::: ::Saturday, August 9th 2008 AKA 8/9/08

Where::::: I'll meet up with all the NYC crew on the NE corner of The Port Authority at 11:30pm . From there we'll hang out and wait for stragglers to arrive and leave at exactly 12:00 midnight and head into Jersey via the mini-bus for "Blvd. East" across the street. For those already in NJ. You can meet us at the White Castle on the corner of 91st Street/Bergenline Avenue in North Bergen, NJ. There is plenty of parking in the mini-mall on 89th Street/Bergenline Ave AKA CVS and Quick Check (Do not park in White Castle).

What::::: This is a longboard free-ride, get to skate with some cool people, and do something different with your Summer. Anyone is invited.. bring a friend. We'll be skating some big hills and small hills, flat-straight aways, parking garages, and whatever else you like. Sweeping panoramic views of NYC. We'll be skating through Fairview, North Bergen, West New York, Union City, Weehawken and ending in Hoboken.

From here you can take the Path train back into NYC or other transportation back to where your car is.

There is no definitive end time, but if someone has to leave early, I'll do what I can to point them in the right direction to get back to their home.

Come out skate and bring nothing but your skateboard and a good time!

Any questions.. just let me know.

Cool Remixed
On 4/29/2008 Adam Rozan wrote in from United States  (209.232.nnn.nnn)

Oakland Museum of California joins up with East Bay Asian Youth Center (EBAYC), Oakland High’s Visual Arts Academy (VAAMP), Town Park, Visual Element of the EastSide Arts Alliance, Youth Radio, and Youth Uprising—to create art and installations for the exhibition. Local artists KDub, Mike Reyes, Ben Winslow and others will provide a glimpse into the world of skateboarding, or “street surfing,” circa the 1960s. They will build a quarter-bowl skate ramp for the exhibition, with a video by Reyes of local skaters projected as a backdrop.

Central Park Event Weekend 6/6/08-6/8/08
On 4/17/2008 Ian Nichols wrote in from United States  (71.190.nnn.nnn)

This year's Central Park Race will turn into the Central Park Event Weekend. This is because so many people come from so far to race and it's over so soon. Instead of one half day you get 3 days!

Friday Night

Friday Night Rips: 6/6/08 8pm

Head over to Brooklyn for some sliding, wheelies and maybe a go around the park (approx 3 miles).
To get there take the F train 15th Street then skate into the park at 15th and Prospect Park West, turn right at the main loop and skate till you get to the hill where the skaters are gathered.

Saturday
Central Park Race 6/7/08 12pm

Ok this is the main event! Hosted by the New York Longboard Association. Lots of prizes and the trophy! Once around Central Park (6.2 miles)
almost everyone in the top 10 gets a prize. The current record is around 23 min held by Casper. So get yourself over to the park to train now or you'll never have a chance! after the race we go for beer at the boathouse to socialize.

Weekend Party 6/7/08 8pm
Held in Brooklyn a few stops out on the L train just call 718-595-2007 if there are no directions now there will be by the time of the party. We are going to have live music free beer ( i don't know how long it will last) Please bring your own food.

Sunday

2nd Annual Powerslide Jam 6/8//08 3pm

Hosted by Earthwing Skateboards the Jam will be up in the Cloisters in upper Manhattan. If you take the A train to 190th street you will come out in the park. If you are closer to the 1 train then take it to
191st street. If you are driving from NJ come over the George Washington Bridge. turn uptown on Broadway and go to 190th street.

And that's a wrap jack! get your butts over here and skate!!

Congratulations to the new PORTLAND PUSHER CHAMPION - DAVID MITCHELL!! David beat 65 racers to become the second PP Champion in history. The Champ is also the first person to ever take the Cup outside of Portland! He will carry it proudly and defend the Cup at Portland Pusher #10 in August. KOTF Robskey had to forfeit the Cup due to an injury, but he will be back and hungry to regain the title.

THANK YOU to all of our sponsors!! Their VERY generous donations meant lots of prizes and lots of smiles at the raffle! High fives and three cheers to -

As part of a Listen and Learn series we are having a free slide-talk/workshop about Stencil Graffiti as a form of street art. Craig Morrison will be giving hands-on "demos" of cheap, low-tech, stencil projects that can inspire work in the studio, on the skateboard or outside on city streets.
Craig was the catalyst for and is a leader of the Arts and Social Change program at Oasis Alternative School in Downtown Toronto.
Time: Friday November 16 7-9pm.
Place: Roarockit Skateboard Company. 880 Millwood Road, Toronto.
