Got excitied, I will be there but riding is another matter. 50 years on this planet doing what he does on a skateboard all these years on that hill for his b-day is worth the price of travel. I have been there and the place is unlike any place in the world. There is a reason why its there, (SOUTH OF THE BORDER BABY)TO MUCH ON MY PLATE TO RIDE BUT TO PARTY WITH THE MAN,HELL YES!

Whattup all you damned skater folk. Myself and Digger Green are throwing a 50th B-Day party and downhill race at Barrett Junction (about 5 mi. before the Tecate Mex. border) Sat. the 31st of march, And April fools day. Saturday will be a fun free run day, then party at the cafe and camp out in the newly re-modeled party compound. They have a huge stage and dance/mosh floor, all gated in for legl private party and camp area. They have 3 cool little rental bungalo/ cabins available for rental, and a large adjoining parking lot for RV's or campers. SO, COME ON DOWN!!!! R.S.V.P. @ waldoautry@hotmail.com or crash the bash! I am trying to post a pic, bear with plz.

I once posted in the "Lords of Dogtown" page about taking the movie as just that a movie and not an hisstorical account. I reminded the readers that the actual winner of the 75 Del Mar Freestyle was not Stacy as depicted in the movie. Does this matter? It did to one Flurette Picciolo! Her dad, Steve Picciolo was the true winner of the Del Mar Freestyle and his daughter was glad to see that someone new about this actual history and cared. She cared and that was enough for me.
When her dad was about eight, Karl Weber and I used to visit the Picciolos and skate with his older brother Chris, who was on the Southern Hobie Team in Clay Wheel days. We skated all of the hot spots, Belagio, Kenter, Paul Revere and others. The Z-boys were about 5 years old or younger. The area, later called Dogtown was ruled by the Hobie Team skaters before it was named Dogtown and became the home of the Z-boys.
Steve was an original, and that is true history!

Here is Chris Chaput in South Africa spreading the stoke. I believe he was showing the locals his favourite pics of Ellen Oneal, but maybe Chris can tell us the "real" story?

Wow Lemonboy, that totally stokes me that this picture got you racing. Shouldn't that earn me a .5 bonus discount in my next time against you head to head? I think so.
BTW, I still have the board I am riding in that picture, stuck up in the rafters of the garage. In fact I rode that deck at the Farm in the vintage in 05.

Cool pic of Skitcher. I was there for the Hang Ten event at Carlsbad. So many cool memories like screaming at the top of my lungs as my mentor, Big Bad H came back to beat Alva in the Slalom final. I rode for Brewer then so I hung out with Mentor # 2 BP a lot too. Very cool to be able to call guys like H and Piercy "Mentors" but it was true. Both guys took me under thier respective wings and turned a 15 year old kid from University City into a pretty decent racer. It didn't hurt that every Sunday at La Costa was like a final 16 at the Worlds. Anybody and everybody that was fast showed up.
When you convert that pic please send it to me, My bros would get a kick out of seeing it again.

Hey Marty, I made a .pdf of the Skateboarder magazine article on the 1977 Catalina Classic. It has you on the first page of the piece, racing Steve Sherman. Piercy features prominently, of course. I need to reduce the file size and then I'm gonna make it available on the web.

The other night my mother and I ran into Bob Ballou at The Crab Cooker Restaurant, in Tustin, Ca.
Bob owned Powerflex Skateboards - back in the mid 1970'S. He helped out a lot of young skaters, and helped them go on to bigger things in life.
