Now Richard-don't be pulling that "it's below zero" crap around a couple of Chicago guys. Remember, when we say it's below zero, we're talking fahrenheit!
The sound system at RRR leaves a little to be desired, but I imagine with fewer thrashers skating, it would be sufficient to rock the house with SSofS spinning his hits.

You guys are stealing my ideas!!!!! I was thinking indoor is the way to go too. It's below zero here at the mo.
Need local advertising, a venue and a couple of guys who can do it to challenge the locals. I was rather thinking of Mr Drayton but I think he's over the pond for a while.
But Im available to spin events Stateside, Alan!

Alan: depending on what a quid is in American Dollars, I'm in! It would be AWESOME to set up a slalom course, totally possible if moving some of the center ramps and boxes. There's that HUGE ramp off the side of the pool that would go down to like 50 yards of polished concrete!
I could talk to the Youth Minister at my church about renting it out and splitting the cost, we have a fairly large youth group at our church (but not too big-40-50 kids), my oldest is in it. There are several skaters. This way cost goes down and exposure goes up. This, of course, if a quid is more than 5-10 bucks!

Sorry I couldn't get out to the tripleR to join you guys last night, as I said, I had a perimeter alarm go off at one of the locations I've been keeping an eye on. Sure felt like hunting season (if you know what I mean).
Hey Chris, that idea about putting up some info at the park is a cool idea. I'm also thinking about renting the place out some weekend night so that we can have the place to ourselves! 10 people at 10 quid per and we're in. Now to figure out how hard it would be to get SSofS to spin the place into a fury... now that would be the session!

Had a great (but short) time w/Cfavero at the skatepark tonight, not too many knuckleheads (where were you Alan?!). The park was PACKED (didn't even get to say goodbye to Chris-couldn't find you, man) because of the holiday.
I was hitting backside airs, tailtaps, and generally workin' the halfpipe pretty solidly, but MAN that CFavero can find a line in the pool. I don't know where a guy born and raised in Chicagoland learned to carve like that, but he really helped me out for my future efforts.
That's gotta be great slalom practice, carving that pool. Our little (OK, not so little) knees were a shakin' after the first few runs!

My kid that skates has a 103 fever, so he won't be going tonight, but I'll see you there.
Regarding the G.R.S banner, why not just the grass/logo thing on the home page header? I actually think it looks really cool.

Adam already offered to kick in the banner spot on this forum for a few months, and we'll donate the Turner banner spot on the Events section. What we don't yet have is a BANNER to place. Hugh sent out a request for this last week, but I don't know if he's received any submissions.

I asked Adam about the cost of a banner ad, and, though I don't remember it, I DO remember being surprised at how low it is! Count me in for a couple of bucks.

hey Hugh, how much would a banner be from Adam the webmaster? maybe we could pitch in, if everyone sent you a few dollars we would have enough to put a banner at the top of the organization page. North Az would pitch in. i tyhink this would be a worth while thing. maybe he would give us a special rate or we could bid for a year or something. Adam T, if you can, post some of those photos. i do not have the ability. George.

Hugh, do you think you could separate each of the GRS chapter links by a blank line? Sometimes it takes a little while to find my chapter (Mid-Atlantic) because it's so close to the Portland chapter.

Hey, everyone. Anyone interested in some vert/park action tomorrow night? 7:00pm at Ramp, Rail, and Roll in Mundelein. I've got a couple of hybrid style longboards if anyone needs to borrow (a Dreg's 40" 40oz and a Poolskater 38"-I'm riding my Numbchuck and will share it, too! I have on popsicle stick that my son rides. If you need to borrow, call me before 6:30pm tomorrow night so I can pack them).
Directions to Ramp Rail and Roll (RRR):
Take the Tri-State Tollway (I-94) North towards Wisconsin
Exit at Townline Road (Illinois 60). Go Left or West.
Go to Butterfield Road (this is past Milwaukee Avenue/Il 21 about 2 miles I guess). Turn Right or North.
Go to Campus Drive (there is a car stereo store on the corner) and Turn Left or West.
RRR is the first or 2nd driveway on the left, you can't miss it. If you get lost, try my cell phone (847)903-3452, but I won't be near it after 7:00pm, I'll be RIDING!

I don't see a link to this site on your GRS page Hugh. I'm currently working on a slalom primer and a page about buying gear. There will be lots of info on it [Brian plans on making it an E-Zine]. And links to all the pertinent sites [IE: GRS and NCDSA].
Help a guy out buddy.
Thanks

Been raining here, did have opportunity to give some of the the boys their boards and then we sat in front of the PC and I showed them as many video clips as I could find. They were excited and can't wait to set a course. One more guy wants in and they like the idea of being part of a "team".

I've just had the opportunity participated in a cross-country experience that involved the members of GRS:
A couple of days ago I received an email inquiring about my preferences in a slalom setup. After a couple of emails I found out this young lady is just starting out and lives on the east coast. Well, with the network already in place, she will be able to contact someone in her state who in turn can put her in touch with someone in her general vicinity.
This is what it's all about, it's happening, and we're almost there!
