Thanks to you to Gareth, It means alot to hear the people on this forums positive comments. It's been a lot of work and a lot of getting out talking and making calls to people. I've been planting the grass seeds for months. Yesterday was a good day. I went to the skatepark and I was mobbed by kids asking questions and wanting flyers on the race to take home. I don't know if they will race this race but a imagine many will come to watch. I'm sure that means most will race at my second race. They won't be able to resist.
Check out some of the local skate scene and some of my slipping slalom into the local way of thinking at the message boards on:
http://www.skatems.com/forums/
If you want to register and leave a comment that might give all my talk some backbone, that would be appreciated. Go to the "events" section under "skateboarding in the south". It's one of the hottest forums on the page right now. Let them know who you are and where you're from.
Thanks to all and I'll keep you posted on the event.

Ricky- Way to go! Great job on getting this thing organized and looking like a first class operation. I have to second Tway's comments about the logo. The first thing I thought to myself was "...wow, that sure would look great on a t-shirt!"
Sincerely! Gareth

Ricky, Your web site is really cool and your GRS logo is killer. Would look awesome on a tee-shirt. Your vintage pics are classic. Good luck with your event. Keep on Truckin'

GRS Mississippi Chapter is hosting their first slalom race of the season on Sunday, April 21st. The race will be run on Concourse Drive which is a freshly paved deadend street with a slight grade. The course will be a hybrid type. We will run timed quals with head to head duels. It should be a fun and educational day of racing for the new racers and the new race organizers.
I'd like to thank our sponsors, Turner Downhill, Pleasure Tool Bearings, ParkX Skatepark, Chane/Swell Sk8 Skateshop for there help.
From more information check out: http://home.jam.rr.com/byrdz/Events.htm
Let's race!

SpeedBall: Let me know what you'll be needing bro... ...I've got some Seismics or Indy 101's for trucks if you wanna build a slalom. Whatever. If not we can get you something else.
Loneskater: Thanks for lending a hand. Let me know if you need anything else yourself and the 159's will go out some time soon (psssst, I've got starter kits now too).

How has everyone been. I realize I've been M.I.A. for a while and yet I still return with bad news! My board (trucks and all) has mysteriously vanished. I've ridden that thing to school for three years and now someone decides to "boost" it. So I guess I'll be taking a break from the whole skating scene for a while cuz I'm broke....Whatever! Heres to smooth hills and steep hills! whatever!

Tway, Ain't it great. I got an email from a guy who's daughter is having a gym meeting in the Madison area and wants to run cones while she's busy with the meet. He knew I was here because of the GRS page. It works! Still planning a race for April 21st. Are you going to be around?

How about printing some business cards w/ GRS and NCDSA info and contacts. Cheap way to grow some grass. Got my first inquiry on the NYC GRASS website yesterday from a guy in PA who wants to run gates with us as soon as the snow melts. Our chapter is growing....1 at a time.

Don't think I can make the RRR tonight Chris. Partly because I don't want to hurt myself before the Presidio. Still feel it in the shoulders from a hit I took at 31st St. last weekend.
Anybody up for a session at Oak St. or anywhere in the burbs, let me know! Kinda wanna get some offsets in before the race ya'know.
