scott, maybe you should shoot a "sponsor-me" video and send it out to longboard companies.
regarding park and street with longboards, i dig watching it, roger mihalko (see gravity flow) is a local, and he is so smooth and gets huge air. plus he stands out cuz he's on a longboard.
i did lots of downhill riding this past couple of years, but now i am really hooked on the bowls and stuff. I think any one that skates that haven't rode a pool yet is completely missing out.
Ride all terrain..

john, miko's itching for a ride partner, i being riding lots of park stuff, wouldn't mind hitting up the garage...
---
regarding the whole sponsored deal, personally i don't really care for it, (not that i am a top rider or anything.)
scott, i haven't seen your videos yet, but it sounds like you are enthusiastic about sliding.
However, it takes more than pendulums and 360's to attract the attention of sponsors.
there is only two sliders i know of that are sponsored for their sliding, cliff and sergio. cliff have legendary status, and sergio does slides that no one else could do.
I give those guys on sector9, gravity, (and tvs) mucho respect cuz they are truely amazing and it takes a lot of work and talent to ride at those level, especially those park riders.

Hey all, back in the Bay for the summer with a lot of free time on my hands, looking for some people to skate with. Looking for some long hill cruises, maybe some speedy stuff. I would really like to work on my slides, wouldn't mind a good tutor (HC, met you a while back). Anyways, drop me an email if you want to hook up, BART's about a minute away, so I can get around most of the bay.

hc--
that means your video player (usually MS windows media player) is older and needs to be updated --you need to download the codecs, but these come bundled in media player updates. The videos are okay. A bit on the grainy and dark side. And, yes, senor scott is taking up at least half a lane while sliding.

also, david bought one of snitzel's race videos, many guys were on the r4, and highsiding...
you can 'avoid' this by shifting your cg as far away from the roll center as possible, but this is only a band-aid solution.

david, actually one of high side in the red bull video is snitzel, i believe.
the main problem with these super low decks is when high speed cornering in a drop stance, things gets quick and jittery, and easy to high side due to the deck's closeness to roll center.
this has been my experience on a r3 with randal downhill.

scott, if you are going to be sliding with a RIV or DH board, use full finger gloves, i had a accident on that board a while ago when learning to slide, grabbed the rail, messed up on the slide, and shoved my one of my fingers that was grabbing the rail into the ground. not nice. also i find the RIV boards have a pretty long wheel base for slides.
as for the RIV and RIII being stable at speed, the canadian guys ride them in comps, I have taken my RIII into the high 40s low 50s once, it felt stable, but if you wanna go fast, i would get a better speedboard. HC pointed this out to me, after watching some videos of guys riding RIVs in a speedboard comp, many of them would slide out in the corners and high side. this is most likely because they were not riding the board properly, it seems only people like jim z and shnitzel know how to ride the board well in comps and keep it from high-siding.
ps. HC, i'm back in the bay area, lets ride sometime

@ Scott and Hc Well I ride my Landy DH Race not with Indys but with Randals and it is stable like hell because of the low centre of gravity. Go 60 km/h and it feels so stable, you'll think you're just cruisin'. But it also slides very well, did my first 360's on this thing :-)

Hc - i thought the deck is supposed to be good at high speeds.

i had a similar crash on the r3 (heel caught on asphalt), very dangerous, use thick risers.
scott, the landy dh is the second board i owned, setup with indies, i learned sliding on this board, very easy to slide, very jittery when speed speed picks up, avoid this deck if you are planning to go fast on it.

Scott, I use Randal R II with Flux Risers and I can grip the rail very good and still have a low riding board. I used to ride this board with Randal DH 160, which are lower with three (!) Shockpads, because I have large feet (13 US) and would get thrown off when my feet hit the street in tight turns. The DH Race is LOW... I just love this one...

Does anyone own The DHR by Landyachtz? I was just wondering if it is high enough to get a full set of fingers, right to the knuckles under the board.' Or better yet how high is it of the ground with stadard trucks?
