quid pro quo = (something for something... Here's your quo wheres my quid kind of thing)

Curse you Johnnyx and your trick questions!!
The origin of the word "quid" is unknown... although it has been in use since 1688... and it means "a pound of sterling"

That word must go back to the time of Socrates, Neoplatanism. All had their philosiphies, Fries,Nelson and Kantian--quid facti, quid juris

yes herbn, you are absolutely right. The undertones were one of john peel's many discoveries, along with the fall, stiff little fingers, siouxsie and the banshees, joy division and countless others. We will try to forget feargal sharkeys solo career though, dont you agree? By the way, does anyone know if the MC5 got out of jail yet? they were imprisoned (or at least some of them) on really serious counter terrorism charges and I never found out what happened afterwards. There must be some old school Detroit punker skaters out there!!!

Congratulations Hugh, you were close enough with your answer. For the rest of you the definition is the thirteenth full moon in a calendar year.Hugh, I have your address so what I will do is Give the wheels to sean Mallard when I see him in Melbourne in a couiple of weeks and get him to post them when he gets back to CA, just to save postage. I will be posing more questions after my next package arrives from Kryptonics UK.

Here are some links that talk about blue moons:

I realize that none of this is very skating related, unless you skate at night, then it's very relavent!
So Adam/DT... If you can handle leaving this nonsense up for a day or so... it might be educational for us all... if not, oh well... thanks, HR

... or was it that the "blue moon" is a second full moon, specifically during the month of October, when the first full moon is the "Harvest Moon"?

I know that Hugh is very close to defining "blue moon". I just can't remember the specifics. Wasn't the "blue moon" a second full moon during harvest? It's killing me, 'cuz I used to know this.

I was definately told that the massive, devastating eruption of vesuvius (a volcano), put so much ash in the sky that it hung around for a week or more, making the moon appear blue. Apparently this doesn't happen often, hence the phrase!!

Second opinion on origin goes to farmers alamanac which uses it as a label for the third full moon in a season that has four of them.
However, the two in a month seems to pre-date the alamanac by several hundred years... HR

MC5 INVENTED PUNK AND HEAVY METAL ALL AT ONCE. YOU GUYS SHOULD CHECK OUT JOHN PEEL'S SHOW ON THE BBC WORLD SERVICE RADIO. HE'LL PLAY EVERYTHING FROM SABBATH TO MILES DAVIS VIA THE FALL. I MET HIM ONCE AND ASKED HIM WHY HE WAS STILL PLAYING RECORDS ON THE RADIO AFTER NEARLY 40 YEARS AND HE SAID -AND I QUOTE "YEAH, IT DOES GET BORING BUT I'M LOOKING FOR ANOTHER TEENAGE KICKS" HE'S RIGHT YOU KNOW, THE GREATEST ROCK'N'ROLL SONG OF ALL TIME AND STILL NO-ONE HAS COME CLOSE.

Yes that's right, it was bands like Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers that kicked off punk.
I'm into grunge too forgot to mention, Pixies etc. There's a song of theirs (Ed is Dead?) about a girl with no fear of cars riding in stupid bliss, and of a guy 'kicking his strand-cruiser'

I reckon the Ramones laid the foundation for all good noise, The Sex Pistols added good lyrics, then Black Flag, Circle Jerks and the Germs etc added skateboarding. Yeah, punk rock in its first simple form was an american invention, but like anything, theres a lot more people who deserve some recognition than you actually hear about. Through out history basic rock n, roll seems to lose sight and get too comercial, too fill of crap etc etc and punk rock is the reinvention of grass roots, no bullshit rock n, roll, stripped back to a pure, fun, human form. This is what we have been experiencing over the last few years. Ever wondered why skateboarding and punk rock go so well together..theres a lot more to it than you may think.
