Capital punishment? Are you feeling ok?
I personally have been convicted of criminal offences I had no part in. Should I have been executed, I would not have been able to lodge a successful appeal . James Hanratty, the last man to be hanged in England has since been show innocent and his conviction overturned. No wonder the CIA sponsored death squads all had such a great time in Guatemala in the 80s with that attitude. Bush clearly relishes his position as lord high executioner. Do you know the ratio of caucasians to others on death row? The death penalty as practised in America is clearly a racist tool and has been declared so by Amnesty International. By opening the way for others to go to your great country do you mean youwant Bush to open the Mexican border? Fat chance buddy...........

As an American male of voting age I will go on record as saying that I fully support our President Elect George W. Bush... as well as the death penalty.
God Bless America... God Bless Ronald Regan and God Bless George W. Bush.
If a recession is coming it isn't because of a new man sitting at the big desk... it's because of the mis-management of the previous administration (recessions don't happen over night)
If this causes the faint hearted to leave this great country... then so be it... it will only open the doors to more people who want to come here and work for their futures! Having people who want a free ride leave this great land is a blessing to those of us who have paid their way too long!

All I have to say is that any country where that murdering little shit Bush gets even one vote deserves a recession What do they expect? The whole world has no confidence in that gibbering fool who cant even speak his own language and all those multinationals are upping sticks and heading for europe and asia as fast as they can. HA HA HA I LOVE IT. I know its not your fault but blame your neighbours...........

I see those Razor scooters as skateboards with training wheels.
Lot of kids, girls as well as boys, shout "that's tight!" sometimes in unison when they see my jumbo-cambered longboard, or my LED-riding Freebord. It ain't what they got.
As the fad dies those scooters will have negative style points and the kids will be of an age and skill level to graduate to a longboard.
Are we thinking positive?

Skateboarding and it popularity to the general masses goes in cycles. It's on a pretty good high right now. Chances of it going down in a recession is good, in general.
Longboarding falls into a slightly different catagory than general skating. Many of the people who are currently supporting longboard sales are older than their counterparts in the regular skating world. This usually means that there is more discretionary income available to spend on hobbies and toys.
Like Roger, I am not in a position to drop a wad on a fancy new car or a new motorhome or some other big ticket item. But I can pick up a board or two (expecially if it will help keep the small guys going through the coming lean times) Even though none of them will be the very cool looking powerboard!
It comes down to price range and the dollar to big dog ratio... If I wanted to have all the cool skating toys that I could ever have (and I do want that) it will end up being a few thousand dollars over the years. Not cheap, but with proper use of credit cards, do-able.
Much cheaper than putting together a race car. Even cheaper than getting all the cool mountain bike stuff (ask herbn about that one!)
So if we all commit to buying just one or two things every couple of months from SS and LS... everything should be okay! My rambling two cents... HR

Big ticket items like boats, luxury cars, and jewelry take hits in recessions, not low cost recreation products. I can't afford a nice car, but I sure can get a top of the line longboard, or two, or three…

General question, It seems that the U.S. might be heading towards a recession, and that (as history has shown) has been real tough on skate companies and the whole skateboarding community in general. Do you think most of these longboard companies will be able to weather the storm of a bad recession, since longboard companies are a dime a dozen now and the skate market seems "over saturated", or if we do hit a recession will half of these companies end up going under. Do ya think that a recession and "razor scooters" will force skateboarding to loose some of it's popularity and it's exceptence it has gained with the mainstream over the last 6 years? Just like to hear some of your general thoughts on this. Later Skater.

Secret Hate is Truth! I finally got to see these guys play, and it was sick. I've never seen a live show as good as these guys. They dont tour much, but play a lot of Southern California shows. If you ever get a chance to see or hear Secret Hate take it. old school is served, no more pop cult vomit!

Hello skaters,
I've been living in Montclair, CA and don't have a computer at my new address. I really miss visiting this site and reading everybody's posts.
I'd like to wish all of you Happy Holidays! Eat hearty and then get in shape. Next year has a full schedule of races. I plan to make the ones that I can and I hope to see as many of you at them as possible.
Good Luck,
Cliff Coleman

I've never ridden a scooter (at least not the new razor ones) but when I see kids riding them, it looks like they have perpetual speed wobbles when they push. My take on them is that it's something for X-kids to get into so that skaing isn't 100% mall-ified. Guess I'm a bitter geezer now.

A quid is latin for "a piece" of something, I believe. It's also another word for a british pound sterling. Meaning a piece, the word "cud" is derived from it too.. like.. chewing cud or what have you. Hehe. --- kev

Sorry but it's still not correct.
the term "quid" was used in the domesday book to state that a nobleman was paid up to date in his taxes, and so did not owe the treasury.
hence the term "quits"
looks like the wheels are staying

More quid history...
In 1086 King William I, sent his people out to divide the free from the bond, to divide the land and to establish feudal dues (taxes) The result were documents that are refered to as "Domesday" (doomsday) In one of his laws concerning some interaction between the french and english he had a decree that loosly states:
If an englishman was slain that the lord of the murderer was to pay him (king william) 46 marks of silver. If the murderer was never seized then the balance of silver was paid up to 100 marks.
So the quid pro quo (something for something) was the price of an englishmans life was 100 marks of silver (a quid by slang deffinition) paid to the king.
And yes... that is my final answer... HR
