Secret Hate is Truth!
I finally got to see these guys play, and it was sick. I've never seen a live show as good as these guys. They dont tour much, but play a lot of Southern California shows. If you ever get a chance to see or hear Secret Hate take it. old school is served, no more pop cult vomit!

Hello skaters,

I've been living in Montclair, CA and don't have a computer at my new address. I really miss visiting this site and reading everybody's posts.

I'd like to wish all of you Happy Holidays! Eat hearty and then get in shape. Next year has a full schedule of races. I plan to make the ones that I can and I hope to see as many of you at them as possible.

Good Luck,

Cliff Coleman

I've never ridden a scooter (at least not the new razor ones) but when I see kids riding them, it looks like they have perpetual speed wobbles when they push. My take on them is that it's something for X-kids to get into so that skaing isn't 100% mall-ified. Guess I'm a bitter geezer now.

A quid is latin for "a piece" of something, I believe. It's also another word for a british pound sterling. Meaning a piece, the word "cud" is derived from it too.. like.. chewing cud or what have you. Hehe. --- kev

Sorry but it's still not correct. the term "quid" was used in the domesday book to state that a nobleman was paid up to date in his taxes, and so did not owe the treasury. hence the term "quits" looks like the wheels are staying Jonnyx

More quid history...

In 1086 King William I, sent his people out to divide the free from the bond, to divide the land and to establish feudal dues (taxes) The result were documents that are refered to as "Domesday" (doomsday) In one of his laws concerning some interaction between the french and english he had a decree that loosly states:

If an englishman was slain that the lord of the murderer was to pay him (king william) 46 marks of silver. If the murderer was never seized then the balance of silver was paid up to 100 marks.

So the quid pro quo (something for something) was the price of an englishmans life was 100 marks of silver (a quid by slang deffinition) paid to the king.

And yes... that is my final answer... HR

Two possible origins... both from latin... neither provable..

quid = what (money is what we all need type thing)

quid pro quo = (something for something... Here's your quo wheres my quid kind of thing)

Curse you Johnnyx and your trick questions!!

The origin of the word "quid" is unknown... although it has been in use since 1688... and it means "a pound of sterling"

yes herbn, you are absolutely right. The undertones were one of john peel's many discoveries, along with the fall, stiff little fingers, siouxsie and the banshees, joy division and countless others. We will try to forget feargal sharkeys solo career though, dont you agree? By the way, does anyone know if the MC5 got out of jail yet? they were imprisoned (or at least some of them) on really serious counter terrorism charges and I never found out what happened afterwards. There must be some old school Detroit punker skaters out there!!!

I realize that none of this is very skating related, unless you skate at night, then it's very relavent!

So Adam/DT... If you can handle leaving this nonsense up for a day or so... it might be educational for us all... if not, oh well... thanks, HR

... or was it that the "blue moon" is a second full moon, specifically during the month of October, when the first full moon is the "Harvest Moon"?
