alright, so i just got clocked for the first time today and my fastest speed was a whopping 25 mph. Delaware sucks for hills. anyway so i was going down this little hill, and i thought, i'll try to luge. so i lay down. I think, this isn't so bad. then the board starts wobbling like crazy (i have RII's, mad loose) I think hey, lugers put their feet down to slow up. So i put my feet down and my foot bucks up into the air! I almost fell off but succeeded in riding off the rode into the inviting grass. Injuries? i did manage to brush my pinky up against one of the wheels and take a little skin off. Why did i right such a boring story? I'm getting tired of clicking on crashing and seeing the same old post. Not that i want to see you guys get hurt or anything.

I have my own local skateboard company.Quiet Time Design.... look out for it, my boards are sick.....anyway I have a team of riders that are very skilled...so all you younger studs .chill if you don't know what you are doing. We are all out of southern cali, where there are some major hills to charge. we were on a local lownhill that is fast and very long ride. It was me and 4 other guys carving up this road when out of no where my boy went down, but not to hard, but right infront of me, i would have just gone right around this cat but a car chill'n coming up the road was in my so it was either hit my boy or hit the car or just get lucky. i tried to get lucky and was a bad thing, i got past both of those cats but got crazy speed wobbles, tried to correct it, but went down and went down hard. goiing 30 mph no pads, cargo pants and a t-shirt.i got broke, my legs had huge gashes and my lfet arm and back caught alot of dramma too. this was only about a week and a half ago, I am still laid up, no riding for me but i have been out with the team, and it is still crazy....ride southern cali, santa barbara county is a great place to go.....................Quiet Time design is coming to you soon so look out we will soon have a page on the net so check it out if you have a sec.... boards from your little carvers 42 inches to long down hill cruisers at 60 inch....

I was racing down this hill with one of my budies. We were going about 25mph maybe and he tried to play around and he grabbed my hands he fell and slid about 20 ft on the back of his head . He was on inlines though. He had a helmet on so he got up laughing.

Funny now after 12 years . . . Right before my 15th birthday (thankfully summer break) the family was vacationing in Indiana (whoo!) at a Condo/golf course community where my brother (16) had noticed a strip of garages on a nice slope with banks in between. Well, fresh from seeing the second Powell video (Future Primitive?) we had to go hit it--looked a lot like S.F. (Gonz's section) to us flatlanders. Hopped on my Lance Mountain (running 83A Rat Bones) and was cruising when we were almost there--just one large hill to drop. I was too young to have thought about changing my set-up & my trucks proved too loose. My first case of the speed wobbles and I had no idea what to do. Unfortunately I heard a car coming from the rear. All I remember is looking back, getting airborne, somehow getting my arms in front of my face, blacking out, bouncing once, seeing my brother running toward me, blacking out, bouncing, seeing my brother running, sliding on face, arms and knees, blacking out. Turns out I slid about 40 feet. I spent the rest of the vacation soaking in a tub, playing Connect Four & watching Wimbledon. Never made it to the banks. I still have a scar on my elbow but the biggest thing then was that I had left a patch of face & hair on that hill. Needless to say I was stylin' on that wonderfully scabbed up pubescent birthday. Those were the days.

My fellow skaters... It seems to me that many of these tales of woe involve not being able to STOP ON COMMAND. The Cliff-Slide provides the downhill enthusiast that ability. PLEASE read Cliff Coleman's posting under 'technique' (It's probably in the archive section) I think it would provide anyone the necessary background to slide and stop whenever the need arises...
you longboarders out there should note that to slide a longboard you need to keep both feet inside the trucks... In other words, the front foot should be on, or behind the front truck bolts, and the back foot should be on, or in front of the rear truck bolts...Dig?
Me, I'm a short board enthusiast, but I've tried the long guys and these are my observations...I hope they help.

Dan, After reading your post I think you should use every bit of safety equipment that you can find!!!!! Pads, both elbow and knee, a helmet, leathers and most of all slider gloves. Slider gloves help when you crash and are the only piece of safety equipment that helps prevent crashes.
Sincerely, Cliff Coleman

To Pee-Wee:
Riding a luge across those markers will make them chunk apart also. Nice when you're going over 60 mph. They tear apart Cherry Bombs in a matter of seconds. Luckily I just slid off the board and skidded on the backside to a stop. No harm done.

Does running of beacause,in the darkness, you don't see a row of cones until the last second and the only thought in your head is that there's probabely a chain across the road behind the cones.

not a bone-crushing, hernia-inducing tale, but more of a forewarning. Im coming down my favorite hill, and hitting my area of top speed. Ahead of me i see someone with a dog. Dogs scare me. Not when I'm walking along a street, but when im on a board, a dog can provide for a dangerous obstacle if it starts to chase you. Plus, i love dogs and would hate for one's poor paw to get caught beneath my wheels. Anyways, i put my foot down to try to slow down. (dumbass) my front foot was too far forward on my frontt kicktail (S9 big stiffy) and my board went down, i went up, superman special onto the pavement. On top of that, my road rash was too gross to impress any of the girls at school. Oh, and the person with the dog happened to be my mom and I freaked her out real good. She gives me looks every time i tell her im going out for a board run. The moral of the story is be wary of anonymous dogs! and what doesnt kill you can only make you stronger, but is frequently very painful. have a nice day, E8EN

I was flying down a hill following my friend when I came to an intersection. My friend went up to the left and I followed him. (the hill ran down left to right). Anyway, I was a little ways behind him and he went up the hill and started cranking around. I didn't know he was doing that and as I came around I almost hit him. When I cranked real hard I lost balance and fell frontside fast. I ended up doing a front flip in the air and landing on my right arm. It swelled up and hurt like a bitch. Anyway, I had to stay off my board for awhile and that sux. I guess I'm saying the worst crap happens when you least expect it.
