Thanks for all the posts relating to MB Megatrons, great stuff, I never realised they were so rare... I have a pair that I had fitted to my Pig Stix (any one from Brighton remember those?) until I snapped it at the Barn or the Cage. I then transferred them to my Shogo Z-Woody to keep them out of harms way, mounted up with some 70mm red Kryps. (I'm doing up the Z-Woody at the moment). I have some Tracker Mid-tracks to go on the Woody, any suggestions as to what would go with that combo to be a little more authentic wheel wise?

The tape is actually 3M tape that comes on a roll. I believe that was what Bob udes back in the day. So it's only a matter of cutting the angles and Presto! I used the pic of the Turners you provided for the tape. I drilled it like my Sims Turner that I have here but I moved the front truck back a ways. It was a little nerve wracking drilling it but with a sharp bit and a great deal of positioning it came out well. I'd recommend you go to Home D and get the sealing washers there. They are .57 cents and will keep your top from being scratched. The Rad Pads help this become a true vintage ear complete. Sure the wheels are a little later, but they were made using the same molds as the original late 70's Kryptonics C-62's so what the hey?
This deck seems Med stiff to me but that just an palms down test. I DID NOT step on it. I weigh 225, that would NOT be a good thing! I now own 10 Turner Summer Ski skateboards! This is the last, perhaps.......

Wow, that deck is almost as beautiful as Vintage Man's Turner, his was the bomb!!! Ok Ok.... Vintage Man, Dave here... That deck sure is authenic looking!! Most impressive... Did you have pre cut grip tape? My dull tools and personal skills at cutting grip tape are present and lacking!! Have you ridden Turners before? Does this feel like other Turners? Just seems kinda hard and brittle, but I ain't never had a Turner in my hand Beefo..... Outstanding effort... OH, send pictures via my email address, the wheel color seems die-luted.... If not no need to send more pictures.... cheers david

So here it is completed. It's missing a Tracker and Kryptonics sticker but since they are on the way I'll consider it done. Thanks for the tips on the top washers guys.
Enjoy.

it's been a while for me to post and this is hardly interesting... but, 10mm (.3937)shouldn't be snug on a 3/8" bolt/stud usually about .368 or so a 9mm(.354) washer will definitely need at least some filing or drilling.

Bob, try Stainless Steel flat washers with an Inside Diameter of 10mm. They should fit pretty well, thougth may be a tad 'snug' on the kingpin threading, easily remedied with a tapered ream, or by a tapered round bastard file of a fairly fine tooth. McMaster-Carr industrial supply is where I got mine a few years back...

Doe anyone have a line on where to get these top washers? I can find some that fit the kingpin but they are not wide enough. They look like crap. Those old Tracker flat top washers are the bomb! A point in the right direction will send your Karma into the heavens.

http://www_silverfishlongboarding_com/Articles/General_News/Skateboard_History_Timeline/ That site or page has a wonderful timeline of skateboarding with some fabulous facts... I thought NHS the percursor to Santa Cruz was the pioneer or involved with Road Rider wheels in 1974-ish... No mention of this though in timeline... I also bot my Minty RR6s from the brother of the original shop in rhode island, Sid Abruzzi or similar... I am sure there is lots of stuff on the web about him.

road rider originally from rhode island, creative urithane ,in north carolina, hhmm a lot of east coast in urithane, especially considering how calicentric skateboarding was back in the seventies. WOW road rhode i never noticed that 30 years is all it took, well i didn't know roadriders came from east coast back in the dayi wasn't concerned about stuff like that in the good old days, maybe that's a big part of what put the "good" in "good old days".

Early Issue Tracker Truck Collection!

Just completed the collection!!.. All cleaned and shined up!! Ful track $55, Mid Track $61, Haf $70 am guessing cost as had the Haf for 2+ years.. Some Tracker info I found out past yr or so; Grey bushings... Indicates very early issue for tracker.. All mine have grey. I used Skateboarder mag as the research tool :---) and found Mid-ish 1976 the Haf Tracker was introduced. The Ful tracker was simply called Tracker Truck back then... I think the Mid tracker was introduced in late 1977 (??) My first Skateboarder mag with all three trucks was Feb 1978... But I don't have skateboarder mags from Oct 77 to Jan 78.. So my dates are open to verification and any imput or knowledge you all have... Questions comments and riding experience regarding these puppies is always of interest..

Great info as to your all personal experience and spec opinions on that ole turner of mine!! Like the feedback!! I just thought the colors looked so cool and 1970s!! :---) As mentioned due to my "big butt" disease, its a display deck... The attached decks, I do ride, albeit slowly, slalom style... 2 Re-issue, 1 Vintage, and some mix and match re-issue/vintage parts on the Alva and Jay Adams... The Makaha is vintage though and though. Many of the stickers are vintage as well!! Want specs and info, just email em.. cherrios..

You do make a point there, but while Bolts were never "intended" for slalom, they do grip very well and make fine slalom wheels. The date is correct as well. As for the Gullwing Phoenix you are correct. They are not good slalom trucks at all. I had some on a G&S Response when those decks came out and no matter how they were tuned [IE: Wedging, bushing combos], they still didn't turn well enough. But they do look sexy on that deck so style points for that.
I'm setting my Aqua blue one I just got with small pivot Fultracks and Pink C-62's and Rad Pads. The wheels will be a bit newer but it's the look I am after here. I have MANY other Turners I can ride. And since these are true 70's models, I think it right we drill them and set em up. Riding them? I'm on the fence...
It's not a skateboard till it has trucks and wheels IMHO...

You can email me direct via the site if ya want :--) Avoids my dribble on the Vintage Gear page.. Alligators... I thought you ment Original 1970s gators!! I will admit the Mr Bennett Alligator green re-issues look awesome and I have blue ones on my re-issue jay adams classic 27inch deck... I think they bomb, but then I never got to no 55mph before!! Turner Deck...I am guessing 1977-79... Was a garage find/stash/horde as noted in previous Vintage Gear discussions and ebay auctions. Turner feels extremely rigid, think and brittle to me... Wish my butt was not so heavy so I could take it for a spin :----) Wood decks are best now a days for me and my slow glides....
