Vintage Champion Sidewalk Surfer Skateboard

Hi All - I just ran across this site, during an effort to try to find info about my OLD "Sidewalk Surfer" skateboard made by Champion.
It's complete, but has a bit of rust on the trucks and wheels (Pretty common for a board that sat in the garage for years). I'm not sure of the year, but I'm hoping I can at least get some info from someone on this site to direct me as to where I can find a value so I can possibly sell it, to help keep my house.
The board itself is in great condition, with only minor scratches and dings on the sides of the platform (which is almost 1/2" thick, and the wheels are about 1.5"" apart on the inside walls.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I can supply pictures if someone would like them.

Sed-Blizzard Skateboards, and there were 2 models the Freestyle model black, white and green and the Blizzard Super Slalom model black, white and orange, were made in Austria in 1978 by Europa Skateboards, Inc. I have one of each. The Freestyle deck came with Kjell 140 Trucks I believe, which I do have a set of and the Slalom came with Kjell 182 Trucks which I have been unsuccessful in finding. Hi, I just bought a wooden 70's skateboard. The brand is BERNARD skateboards and also on the trucks is BERNARD. The wheels are 'POLY WHEELS 280'
Can anyone tell me something more about this board? From what time does it originate? And is it of any value?

I would like to know if any of you would have information on where these boards were made, when and if anybody have a little bit of history related to Blizzard super slalom skateboard. The only details I have is that the board I own is from 1978.
This is the only picture I have on hand, I will post a better picture later tonight. Here's ridding the board Jamie Hart style at the Farm last week-end

As far as I can work out these came between the protos and the conventional production split axles. Subtle differences - hanger has more of a sharp 'V' shape and no Gull shape pressed in and different profile to the hanger cut out.
Painted or powder coated silver rather than gold, not bare alloy.
Anyone got any more info?

aha, I have been using the old skateboardzoo.com link, and have not seen the GW protos. Now, I have, and this is the first time I have seen the baseplate bottom. Very cool ball end mill lightening going on. Vintage man, never mind the photogs, I got what I wanted on the UK site. Thanks I will pose the question, are yours milled similarly?

How did you obtain your gullwing prototypes? there were very few sets made. and yes those are not them on your turner. I would have jumped on that comment immediately, but I have not been on here is a while.
Can you send me some pics of the protos. I have never seen them in any of your GW collection shots or noticed them on one of your completes. Are the base plates solid on the bottom, or do they have the molded lines like the later splitaxles and phoenix etc. do they say Gullwing anywhere on them?
There was aset on ebay a few years back, that may have been the ones you got.
Also, those first red powell wheels were what was in the powell QS ad. I dont ever recall hearing or seeing that they ever made their way into regular marketing, only as a prototype.

But disappointed in others as well :---) I have been on other sites
the past year or so. These guys are on top of everything one says.
Pretty savy at their knowledge and experience, even if still acting age
13 going on 48 yrs of age.
My Disappointment is: MY LAST POST. I put up I had posted up my turner
with SPLIT AXLE GULLWINGS.... Yesterday morning I went to look at that picture for fun(crappy slow day, yes!!)... It has PHOENIX GULLWINGS. Not one person
corrected me with four letter words of atonement, anger, and pointing out
my stupidity. Which means nobody reads my stuff I guess :------) ANYWAY
in a panic went home last night as I knew my memory said splits on that
deck. and THANK GOD, guess I had changed out Phonenix with Splits after I
took the picture and never changed said picture in my collection of pictures
of my stuff :---------).... Hummm, maybe I should be saying THANKS instead!!!!
BY the way:
VERY INTERESTING DISCUSSION on the splits, quicksilver and ACS! I had seen that before, semi discussed, but now: I GETS IT!!! Cheers and had a cup of Joe so a chatty cathey just having fun with you guys. David

when people did wedge trucks they did it right,steepen the front flatten the back,well some folks steepened the back too,but for the most part... I think the gull was of course the new thing,and you can't put the new thing in back because it doesn't steer,that would be blasphamy.

I've noticed what Mad-Rat said on more than a few of those complete Quicksilvers.
What gets me is that Splits have a natural offset and make a great back truck since they turn like poo.
A Tracker Ful-Track from that era [sm pivot] will outturn that Gullwing any day of the week.
The Tracker should have been up front [with a nice rad pad making it turn sickly], with the Gully in the back layed down for what is surly a killer slalom set-up. Never rode one like that but I'd wager dollars to doughnuts it's a great ride. For the time it would alomost be considered illegal.

Yeah, the early Quicksilvers came shipped as completes with a Tracker Fulltrack at the rear for stability, and a Gullwing at the front for turnyness.
The wheels on that ad are the earliest George Powell wheels. I have a set of them too with some pics on my photobucket which I will try to add here.
You will notice that they have very radius edges, looking rather like the bones Cubics that Powell made several years later, although they are no where near as wide. They in fact quite similar in shape to the original White bones that came out in 1977.

I have a used pair of these Powell experimental wheels, I put them back on ebay a couple of years ago before I knew what they were. Thankfully nobody bought them. That is the main reason I wanted to find the proto Gullwing to go part way to creating the board in the advert (so I could use another pair of the wheels!)I think the rear truck is a Tracker Mid or Half track.

I almost certain that the wheels in that ad. are prototypes that were a collaberation between Powell and Sims.
I can't remember who had them, but I'm sure a set ended up on ebay a few years back.

This is just from memory but the first Kryptos I ever saw were like pictured in the ad you posted and with lettering. I was down in north San Diego at Carlsbad skatepark and some guys were riding them, probably around '76 or '77. These guys had the larger of the 2 pictured with lettering the same as the ad. Later I did get some Krypto protos to skate and evaluate (the first core wheels) and they didnt have lettering (just sharpie lot markings for testing), probably around '79, so who knows if the first protos had lettering.
