2003 IGSA World Cup USA Venue Change
The International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA) has announced that the USA World cup event scheduled for October 17-19 2003 in Bainbridge, Ohio is being moved. The event will now take place October 24-26 2003 at Barrett Junction, Ca near San Diego. According to IGSA President Marcus Rietema, “ Last week we were contacted by the Ohio event promoter F-6 Racing and told that they would be unable to organize the event due to financial difficulties. “
F-6 Racing’s Rusty Riley explained that he could assist the IGSA with organizing the event, but that they could not make the financial or time commitment to organizing the event. This left Rietema and IGSA vice president Bob Ozman with a major dilemma. Either take over the event in Ohio, move the event, or cancel the event. With the overwhelming success of the 2003 IGSA World Cup Series, canceling the event was never a legitimate option. Both Rietema and Ozman live in California so organizing a World Cup event from across the country with the short time frame, would be a very difficult task. They discussed this option at length and decided that if a suitable replacement venue could be found, they would move the event.
In the past week, four separate venues were discussed and local governments contacted regarding permits and availability. In the end, Barrett Junction, CA presented itself as the best available venue. According to Rietema, “Barrett Junction is a popular track with the riders and its proximity to an international airport, banquet facilities, campgrounds and the Mexican border town of Tecate convinced the IGSA that it would be the best option for both the IGSA and its’ competitors. With only ten weeks until the race date, the change to a California venue will allow us to present the best possible event.”
Complete event details will be available at www.gravity-sports.com the week of August 22th. The IGSA would like to apologize for any inconvenience the venue change has caused. Our hope is that F-6 Racing can return the Ohio event to the IGSA event schedule in 2004.

Guys & Gals:
Street Luge School...Chosen for "Best of Bay Area Backroads"
We were just notified by Bay Area Backroads that the TV segment on Wild Fro Racing LLC's street luge School in Pacheco State Park was chosen by viewers as one the best on BAB (KRON-TV, Ch 4 in SF) and will be edited to air on their "Best of Bay Area Backroads" in September or October.
We just came back from the Inner City Games sponsored in conjunction with Pure Guts and Hollywood Sports Park and we can say with no hesitation, that street luge was a real favorite with the visitors to the park.
If you wish to learn, ride, rent, test and just have plain fun, contact us at WildFro@aol.com or goto www.WildFro.com on how you and or your group can come ride "The Dinosaur", 2.5 miles of "Adrenaline Rush".

Are splitters worth the $45? For that price couldn't you just get another truck, and wouldn't that be better? Also, if I put splitters on my Z-maxi's wouldn't that eliminate the improvement of a solid axle? Ben

Rogers Bros. sells the visor for the helmets. They are $25/visor w/ shipping included in U.S.

Anyone know where else I can get an aftermarket visor for the wedge helmet? IRS sells them for a wopping $25 for one or $40 for two. The price actually went up from two weeks ago. Any help would be cool, as I dont want to fork out the dough. Is there any way to make one? Basically Id hate to spend $40 on something that is just thrown together to make a profit. Are they worth the 40 bucks. Thanks, Ben

Snowdraggon... yes your correct on that. The Randal luge trucks have that very steep angle, and while on a skateboard it would be very squirly, on the extended wheel bases of luges they are quite stable... HR

hugh r- Correct me if Im wrong, but isn't it the higher the degree the less stable the truck? So I would need the fat end of the riser to be at the rear of the luge, right?
Also what type of benefits/pro's does the roger bro style luge have over the dropped rail style?

I know I need my trucks tight, there actually very tight. I also just put on some white (hard) doh-doh bushings. I now have two trucks up front and I fliped the rear hanger. Im still waiting for some wedge risers though. I'm going to try it all out on sat. and see how it holds.

snow, it sounds like you are not using those randal buttboard bushings.
luge trucks are run tight unlike longboard trucks.
I believe landluge.com sell those.

Snow... If your going to wedge those RII's to mimic the 60 degree luge plates... you'll want a 15 degree wedge with the fat ends facing the center of the luge.
I haven't had much luck personally with doh dohs on these trucks... they all seem kind of squishy for my weight.
I do use bones hardcore bushings on my skateboard setups and would imagine that they would work well for your luge... I'd suggest harder bushings over softer ones... hope that helps... HR

My wheel base is ~45" using Randall 180's. So would angling the rear truck toward the rear help? How much? I also just got some white Doh-Doh's to help out.

Actually, snow, Randals are the same as any other truck. The kingpin points toward the ends, and the hanger points inward. The Randals only look different because the kingpin angle is such that, rather than pointing out behind the axle, it points out in front of the axle. Perhaps that's where the Randal stability comes from?

Im having some massive speed wobble problems when I lay my shoulders down. I can only get the rail to about 25 then I have to sit up slightly (shoulders about 5" from pan)to get past 30. I've hear that if you use a wedge riser and angle the rear truck to the back, it will give you better stability. Is this true? What if I use the randall trucks? They are backwards than most others. Im also going to put two trucks up front, that should help out alot too. Ben
