Garland Restoration to Sponsor Gravity Bike Class *LINK*
Posted By: Marcus Rietema Date: 2/10/05, 10: 35 a.m.
The IGSA is pleased to announce that Garland Restoration, Inc will be sponsoring the Stock Gravity Bike Class in the California Downhill Series events. Garland Restoration will be providing a cash purse of $250 for each of the five remaining races. The class will now be known as the Garland Restoration Stock Gravity Bike Class at all California Downhill Series events. Both Garland Restoration and the IGSA believe the $250 prize purse will provide incentive to gravity bike racers to support and build their sport.
The next California Downhill Series race is scheduled for February 19th. Additional races are scheduled for March 12, April 23, September 17 and November 12. All races are held at Frank G. Bonelli Park located in San Dimas, California and utilize two distinctly different tracks. 100% of the sponsorship money that Garland Restoration is donating is being used for prize money. Prize money will be distributed as follows: 1st=$125, 2nd=$75 and 3rd=$25.
After an absence of nearly eight years, the IGSA has returned local monthly gravity races to Southern California. January’s Bonelli Park Revival race had in excess of 40 competitors in attendance. This was the first California Downhill Series race of 2005. Racers compete in Downhill Skateboarding, Street Luge, Downhill Inline Skating, Classic Luge and Fairing Gravity Bike classes in addition to the Garland Restoration Stock Gravity Bike Class. The IGSA plans to announce more class sponsors in the coming weeks.

Spare Equipment for Bonelli!

I'm hoping to being a bunch of student to watch, and maybe if Bob and Marcus allow, have a little try in practice at Bonelli. It's a small and friendly course, so seems perfect for little practices if it can be done unobtrusively, and should give a good idea of the friendliness of the people in luge etc.. And I hope we get as great a turnout as last time.
So, If anyone has spare basic leathers, helmets, gloves, luges, buttboards for bonelli, please email me at streetluge {AT-] richardhod d0t com and bring them! IT's to teach people and get them interested, which is what we're all about! I have one or two items, but not enough!
thanks in advance!! r

No offense taken. I only get irritated at having to answer questions about rules when it is obvious the person asking the question has made no attempt in reading the rules first. By all means if a rider reads the rules and still has questions I ALWAYS take the time to help out where I can.
When it comes to racing rules riders must realize there are DIFFERENT organizations ans therefore should be reading ALL rules for each organization and make themselves familiar with the rules for the organization they wish to race with.

I hope you didnt take offence to that statement, I had even forgoten what the question was, my point was I imagine the question has been asked 100's if not 1000's of times, and information at times is had to locate, unless you have been trolling / posting the boards for years. Me personally I try to exaust all my options before posting a question, admitidly I get lazy of fustrated and will post in haste.

My post to the newbie was in direct response to his asking a common question concerning rules that are different for each organization. As an organizer of events I see numerous riders (new and experienced!) that are not prepared for tech inspection when they get to an event even though the information is easily accessable on each org's site. I ALWAYS help out the newbies and answer all question that I can but still hold the opinion that every rider NEEDS to read the rules. I still get many question over concerning rules and I clarify what needs it for those that need it.

Ok my honest opinion is these message boards detract people from the sport, Newguys such as my self (and girls) are looking for information Who, What, WHere, When all this is out here on these boards but finding it is such a pain in the arse. I have been making due, and lucklily have found "older" sportsmen who are willing to go over the basics "yet again" with another "new guy". Although I did see a post by my mentor sorta flaming another "new guy" for not looking up his question. Guys like me (20's) are used to the php style BBS every other hobby uses it from Herps to Composites.
Hell I have a B***h of a time finding my own posts when I need to reuse the IMG tags.
Bottom line I agree with you Justin it's time to upgrade, it'll take some getting used to for you "older" guys but I think once you do figure it out you'll like it, It IS easier.

I tried a while back to get everyone to at least try out a phpbb board and the overall concensus was that it was too difficult and would detract people from the sport. I say if you can figure out how to post a message on a message board you shouldnt even be ridding a street luge anyways but thats just my opinion. Good luck in your quest of getting a new message board. LOL

LLLV doesnt work other then to see the list of posts but the post links still point me to the .net/..... Landluge.com's board is ok, theres only a few poepl who even look at it. Someone needs to x-fer over to the new style bbs ones like this here and landluge as well as street luge good info gets lost and is hard to follow the threads. Silverfish has a good board no one uses.

Everyone wants to say they were first, BUT the first person to show up at Signal Hill 1976 with a LAY DOWN ride was Big Sam Puccio. Rodger Hickie, I belive was to young to race that year, just ask him.. Facts are facts and a picture is worth a thousand words. With Respect, Rodger and a few others did carry the sport on. Street Luge lives because of these guys. As for Dave Dillberg, He is alive and well, lives in Hawaii. I would love to see some picture of a 1974 luge you guys claim to have rode. Long live downhill, no matter WHAT you ride, ride fast..
