This may be a dumb question but on the exkate turbo's which part should be facing out (ie should the bolt on the truck be touching) the deep welled side or the flat side? It looked to me like the flat side but when looking at the kyrptonics on my other board I noticed that the deep welled part was facing out and this created a much wider wheel base. The board rides well now flat side out carves, handles steeps, etc but it seems slidier than it ought to be. Not that I mind so much but.....

I just got hooked up with a couple sets of Hyper Super Mundos... does anyone know their durometer? and another set of hypers that look very much like the gravity super gs. Hopefully i'll be picking up a set of payasos. Has anyone else used the Super Mundos? what did you think? I post a review later.

The Classic K has a wider surface area than the Hawaii K. I'm not sure if the hubs are centered or offset. The Hawaii K's were designed by some longboarder from Oahu, HI.

I use the Roadie Racers for quick cone weaving. I believe the yellows are 84A and the reds are 80A. The size is 70mm by 53 mm with big lips. I think the lips snap back and give you tighter and quicker control through the turns. They are slower than thin wheels, but mainly only on rougher surface. I understand the sugg. retail is $8.25 to $9.00 per wheel.

I've had these wheels(65mm/78a/offset) on there Senorita Love Joy with RII's. They work great for carving. The only time you'll slide is when you push it really hard. When they do slide they're really predictable. The only draw back is they're 65mm, i personally prefer a larger wheel. and since they're super sticky they grind down fast. I'm going to go with a pair of Bones Bombers 68/90a and i might buy a pair of Kryptos 70/78a for when i feel the need to carve. I do recommend the freeride wheels for someone starting to bomb hills since they stick so well and are slower than bigger wheels.

When i called Purple Skunk they said they carried them. I've recieved two different sizes from people i ask: 70 and 76mm. I dont know for sure which one is correct maybe both.
They were $45 for the set. Check the purple skunk link and call them.

I have to add that the coned kryptos are not without their merit. I have them on a Deplo 42" with super loose RII's (I forgot to bring any tools with me to collge and have no way to tighten them). I just took them out to a short curving hill on the UT campus, right outside my dorm, with good asphalt. They are so misshappen that only a small part actually touches the pavement. Consequently if you weight towards the tail they will slide out on even a weak down hill turn and you can do standing tail-slides that feel just like surfing. Of course if you really push them they will break out almost 180 in a very sudden unpredictable motion (once again just like surfing). I have yet to make it out of one of these standing up but they are great fun and good cross-training to boot. They board rides just like a stubby twin-fin.

Anyone have any experience with these 76mm 80a wheels? I need something that will last through some slides. My current route 65 kryptos and (to a lesser extent) exkate turbo wheels have become seriously coned after a couple of months of on and off riding. I'm looking at getting some bones bombers to replace the kryptos but it's difficult to to find hard wheels in the 76-80 mm range. Anyone know what size the payoso 89a roadie racers come in? Thanks for any help.

Well, I was actually a bit disappointed with the actual bearings, but the spacers are useful. The bearings (Pig Abec 3s) are OK, but I really don't find them any better than my $8 set of NMBs. I find that with the whole spacer/speed washer set up, you can really tell that the higher Abec ratings make NO difference in the ride. As we've said before in this forum, you want a quality bearing, but abec does not rate quality.

Another great booth at the ASR was Powell, they will soon be releasing a new wheel line: "Hardcore" Bones. They will be poured from a "preimium" urethane. Supposedly, they will be harder, last longer, and keep their shape better (when under extreme pressure). As of now, they're not sure if they will produce them in a larger size for longboarder(60mm+)due to a LACK of demand. They will be producing "hardcore" bushings as well.

I checked out the krypto booth at the ASR trade show and they were on it. I asked the same questions and as you guessed got the same answers...i'll pick up a set this week and let you know how it goes...

Good information. I talked to the Krytonics guy about what spacers to use (yes -- here I go again with the spacers). He said that standard is 9mm wide (which we all know is incorrect, but I didn't argue with him). Anyway, I got the red 70mm Classic K, and with them the red Pig spacers, which come with the ABEC3 Pig bearings, work perfectly. They are just a tad over 10mm wide.

Not sure if anyone cares...but when I asked about durometer vs. the color of the wheels, my wholesalers weren't sure and thought they were basically the same.
Well, not so....I called Kryptonics and got a marketing sheet faxed over. The Classic K series in Red and Clear are 78A, the Blue is 82A, the Green is 86A.
As for the Hawaii K, the Red swirl is 78A, The Blue Swirl is 82A and the Green Swirl is 86A.....At least according to their printed info. Additionally, the
Route 70's they claim, are strictly designed for roller skates. And they have a line of Long boards coming out...guess I'll put that under decks or completes...

kryptonis'c lime green aliens rip! the bearings are a long way ofset so the outer edge of the wheel 'squigdes' down. the makes gripping nice on smooth hills.
and they hiss real nice when carving to.

I took Mark's advice and bought the 85A Bombers, so now I have both the 90A and the 85A Bombers (both 68mm). The 90A are only faster on really smooth roads. I end up riding the 85s most of the time, even though they aren't on my favorite board. They grip better, are smoother, and have a really nice "feel". The 90A are more agressive, let out a serious howl when you pitch them sideways, and are my first choice for ramps and parks. In retrospect I should have bought the 90A Bombers in the smaller 64mm.
Listen to Mark. he's not steering you wrong. BTW Mark, how's my old G&S Peralta treatin' ya?

Rick,
Get some Powell Bombers - they're awesome! I ride 85a's and they slide just a bit when pushed,
a very predictable, controlled breakaway (some of my hills have fairly rough pavement, though).
I've heard good things about the 90a's, but haven't tried them yet. I imagine they would be a
bit better for sliding in general, and especially if your streets are smooth. Bombers are fast,
and they wear slowly and evenly. The best wheels I've ever ridden in 29 years of skating!
