Turbin
On 4/20/2000 Kanoa Kid wrote in from (38.29.nnn.nnn)

I am interest in turbins does anyone have a web site, or can anyone tell me if turbin is the wheel name or company name, and how much are they? I have seen they some where and they really look like some radical tech, not to mention good looks!

new krypts/Fu Manchus
On 4/19/2000 todcar wrote in from (198.39.nnn.nnn)

You're right, these things do look similar, though the kypts seem to have a bit more of an "orange" color to them. I heard that these new kryptos had a new urethane formulation - is this true or are they identical to the Fu Manchus?

new krypto's
On 4/19/2000 matt wrote in from (63.23.nnn.nnn)

the new kryptos look exactly the same as the gravity fu manchu's. Same size, duro, and core. if i were to buy one of them, id go with gravity because of the price.

I have won $5000.00 in the last six months with these
new wheels, its a new company, Sideways Inc.
my wife also won $3,000.00 in the womens cat'.
You should try these turbines it has a aircraft grade
aluminum and its bonded to the polyurethane.
if you are in to serious skate-boarding higher priced.

Kryptonics 76mm Race Wheels
On 4/18/2000 Jonas wrote in from (152.163.nnn.nnn)

Well, it looks like these babies are finally here at last. Solidskate.com just had them added to their wheels section. They still aren't listed on Krypto's site, and I haven't received a reply in over a week from them,so I had given up. Their core is refered to as "racecore" and 'thane is rated at 80a. I wonder how they compare to Turbo's? Anyone with feedback let us all know!...out

Gravity v krytonics
On 4/18/2000 entropy wrote in from (205.188.nnn.nnn)

Hey boy,
Alright fuzz?
i just been watching the downhill on tv insane speeds
i got a few ideas for the summer though its july the 28th a friday no weekend traffic
The speed thing is an odd topic i run gravity that i do all my slides on 78a trhen run kryptonis 78a and 82a on carving and speed runs but the gravity are far faster than the same softness krps and only a bit slower than the 82a
my gravity are now about 55mm and they still bomb or is it that i am getting soft and just like the slides to much

ALUMINATOR to KRYPTO
On 4/18/2000 CRASH TEST FUZZ wrote in from (193.62.nnn.nnn)

Back to the Aluminator shit again...
Took my deck out the other day armed with my 82a Kryptos (haven't ridden them in about 2 months), kinda got used to my Aluminators...
Jesus, what a difference...ride was a bit sketchy, but it was nice to slide again (on moderate hills!), but the thing that suprised me was the speed...Do the Aluminators (74a) really soak up that much energy? Not much difference to the 78a's, but the difference to the 74's was MENTAL!

Rounded lips
On 4/17/2000 Herbn wrote in from (207.198.nnn.nnn)

Wheels got beveled then rounded to deal with coping or sharp edged ramps, cars don't need to deal with stuff like this.I think cars would use urithane tires if there were never any wetness on the road, rubber may grip harder but i think on a unmotorized vehicle they're slow.

xtreme 8balls (solid rubber wheels )
On 4/17/2000 Gunnar wrote in from (193.217.nnn.nnn)

Me to, wanna know, especealy if they are 80mm, or 88mm as they say on www.xtremewheelz.com

Allso i'm still woudering aboute the Summit Slick Wheels found on: http://www.asphaltsurfing.ch/schwingboard/english/store/equipment.htm

The 8 balls is rounded and the Summit wheels have a flat contact area on the road,
Cars havent ben on "rounded" wheels fore over 50 yers now
And Indy cars do for sure use wery wide "flat" wheels for best tracktion.
Shit, can somebody help us out here???????????

solid rubber wheels
On 4/16/2000 Eddie Glayzer wrote in from (216.119.nnn.nnn)

Hi, if you visit www.flexdecks.com and look under wheels they are selling 80mm solid rubbor wheels. if you are a little baffled look at the picture at the web site. they are rounded and smooth rubber. flex decks says thay are realy good for down hill speed which is what im goign for. they are 48$ so please give me any feed back if you think they are a good investment in my future of long boarding.

Krypto Project II
On 4/16/2000 Pre-School Rider wrote in from (209.198.nnn.nnn)

Jonas, you have either 78A,or 82A Rollerskate "outdoor" wheels.I used to aquire these through S.O.H. skates in the bad old days when ALL skateboard wheels were getting quite hard, and small,to use on my slalom/cruiser boards. They were made in a fair quantity, but I haven't seen any for six, seven years now.I don't reccommend going too damn fast on them,as I recall a few separating the tire from the core(on my luge),but for casual cruisin',or cones, they're allright.

Kryptonic Project 2's
On 4/15/2000 Jonas wrote in from (205.188.nnn.nnn)

Does anybody know when these wheels were made or how rare they are? I have a new set of bright pink with black cores. They have no marks as to durometer, but they feel quite soft. They are very similar to Pro 3's from the mid to late 80's,but I don't remember any ads.

I have ridden kryptoes for a while nnow and they give me no problem at all although i have had a problem with gravity super gs with the rubber tearing off the hub when doing very high speed slides.

not to join the flogging, but the Payaso Roadie Racer evolved around 1992 when the kryptonics started flying off my boards. Then they tell me they are only for rollerskates. A bunch of golfers if you ask me. I could, and have, worn out my rear kryptos in a week ( no hills!)!

Your concerns are not new with the inner 90 degree corner of the 53mm wide wheel. On perfect concrete the wheel has no problems from day one to day many away. They have the greatest chance to peel when they are new. Not only new to you, but new as in made recently. The stick and control that the square inner lip provides is a crucial perfomance function of the wheel. As the warrantee goes, chipping on the inside face noticably GREATER than 1/8" is replaceable as long as the inside DIAMETER is still greater than 60mm (of 70mm) Fissures that have been obviously ripped with pliers should not be sent back. However, I am sure you will find that your satisfaction is Payaso's main interest. Use the toll free 1-888-slotown to touch base (message machine) or use http://home.earthlink.net/~payasoslo/index.html to get e-mail contact

payaso
On 4/11/2000 Drew wrote in from (169.233.nnn.nnn)

had the same problem with my payaso roadie racers (red 78a, 70mm) a year and a half or so ago. chunks tore out on the inside edges. the worst was when I had to buy one replacement wheel because I a large piece of glass worked its way into the wheel, and it swelled up on one side so it had a bump and would not roll properly. The skate shop was not all that excited about the prospect of selling me one wheel, but it turned out they had an odd number in stock.
