THe Jam in HB was great! As usual there was a nice crowd on hand! We even set up some cones so the slalom racers could join in.Steve Evans was on hand to spread some good vibes! After the Weekend this was the most sore my body has been in a long time. With team riders John and Gary staying with us this weekend we skated the most we could, starting with 4 hour session at my 360 spot, 6 hour Jam on sunday , ditch session at Hamburger hill and photo shoot at the Queen Mary! We cant wait for the next one! If the Kludys would have been able to make it, I know we would have seen some 3 board elbow stands out of Pops! Get well JR!

I had alot of fun with the guys over in Edison. I beat my 360 record, landed abunch of my hard tricks, learned a few new ones, skated with some of the ledgends of the sport, basicly had a good time. Can't wait till the next jam. :)

A big thanks to SK8KINGS and all of the people that showed up, today, at Edison Park for the Freestyle Jam. The boys from Nor Cal came down and brought their skate game, as seen below.
Both of these guys have some incredible moves and are great to watch.
It was nice seeing old friends and making new ones. Thanks, again, to everyone for the fun day of skateboarding... we had FUN!

I am trying to drum up some support for a freestyle contest at The Factory Skateboard Park in Wake Forest NC.
http://www.thefactoryskateboardpark.com
This contest, "The Jimmy-Jam" is to be held July 21st and is a cancer benefit to Honor Tommy Harward's step-father, Jim, who died recently of cancer. The event will be in a jam format... with hot-dogs and hamburgers being cooked on the grill, live music and ALL proceeds from the event will go towards Cancer Research.
If anyone is truly interested in entering or attending this event, please post your comments here or email me at jim@1972designs.com or tommy@deliciousskateboardshop.com if we can get a enough skaters to enter... this could be the first freestyle contest on the east coast that I've heard of in quiet sometime.
I'm also trying to get some interest in a bowl jam. Free entry with prizes for those who rip. There doesn't seem to many people in Raleigh who skate concrete bowls... so if you're down for the bowl session, let me know so we can get that on the schedule as well.
Thanks for your support and I hope to see many of you there. Jim

This Freestyle Forum is movin' kinda slow again, soooo.....
Here's a photo ~ I know the quality looks like it was taken in the 1920's...
-but I assure you, it is Rene 'Cannonball' 1976 - on GRENTEC 'mouse boards' - during a San Bernardino Pepsi Team Demo.
The cats that skated with me that day were below: Buddy Allred, & Lee Gahimer, 'Badlands' guys.
Dig that long hair !

Hi Kludy Jr. -- Get your dad and come down to our Jam on June 11. We might be running some cones there too. We've set the date but more details will be announced soon. So far team riders Gary Holl and probably Jon Bunn from Nor Cal are coming down. Andre Walton is on fire to skate lately so he should be there too along with Richy and Primo & Diane. Ben -- you coming?
You can keep tabs on things by checking here: SK8KINGS News & Events
Maybe we'll see you at the slalom clinic this Saturday at the Pump?

Brother Rene' dug this slide out of his archives a couple of weeks ago. Check out 14-year old Richy Carrasco after he won the Guinness World Record Competition at Knott's Berry Farm circa 1970's. Check out the custom 360 Powerflex wheels and that killer tail skid. Richard Dawson was the host and the show was televised nationally.
Thanks Rene' for finding this photo -- taken by Glenn Miyoda.

Just wanted to show some love to all you die hards out there.. Thanks for the comments and the emails... I miss all the skating brotherhood.. Please feel free to email me and ask questions or just let me know how your doing.. I never realized how big the butterflip got.. It's a very simple trick but back in 1984 I thought it was cool...I had another cool ass trick I called "purbutter" But it never made it in the mags so it didn't get as popular. It's like a finger flip but you flip it three "rotations" and land in a 50/50 no hands. When you stick it, it rocks... When you miss your shins get it bad..
Send some love Butter out
