The Aaron Guerra Castro Valley Fatland Jam went very well and we all had a lot of fun. About 10 people including two girls showed up to skate and we were there for about 5 hours. My son Robert took over 500 pictures ( thank God for digital! ) so I will have the comlplete story and some photos up in a few days.
Next No Cal Jam will be May 24th around 1pm at the Napa skatepark. Delails and directions in a few days. we are all planning to go so meet us there. I had to make a 6.5 hour journey on the Greyhound to get there and it was well worth it.
How about that OC Jam! it has taken on a life of it's own! That is what was hoped for by doing a series of jams, finding locations and communities of freestylers that click and having that become a regular local activity that will grow and develop new participants.

sorry I missed the flatland in Castro Valley...had to ride slalom on a decent hill...
I hope something like that is planned more often as the weather gets better and we roll in to summer...
please post future events here on this site and post them as far in advance as possible.
thanks,

hc: if the footage you are talking about is from the ASR show, where they had a s.k.a.t.e. game event, the current World Freestyle Champion that was in that event is Daryl Grogan. Below you will find a photo of Daryl taken by Maria at the OC jam last Saturday.

Freestyle/Flatland Mailing List
OK -- I'm thinking -- the internet has been an awesome tool for networking -- especially for the slalom community. We have a little way to go yet for the freestyle/flatland community. Until we have one central location that future events, etc. can be posted at -- e-mail is probably the most effective way to stay networked. Soooooo -- please help me organize this by sending me your e-mail address and anyone else's you think would want to know about this stuff. I'll maintain the list and help get advance notice out to people directly. And please don't forget to send me a "change of address" if you "move". Nothing more frustrating than getting half your broadcast back -- "non-deliverable". THANKS!

Thanks to Richy and Maria for hosting the OC / Huntington Beach Jam last Saturday. We all had a great time and will be looking forward to the next one at that location.
This was jam #3 in the Jam-On-A-Roll mini-series. The next one will be next month sometime at a San Diego location ( any suggestions?)
For those of you in Northern California, this Saturday, April 27th, at noon, there will be a flatland jam at the Castro Valley Community Center located at 18988 Chabot Lake rd. in Castro Valley. I would like to see some of the old school freestylers from the Bay Area come to this jam.

GREAT SITE: Keeping old school alive!!!
IOWASK8ER's motto is: Old School Skater's get all the chicks and make all the tricks!! so get old school kid's
ALSO: check out my old school website for Photos & my list of vintage skateboarding footage! a must skate website! http://www.angelfire.com/ia/vidnight/Skate.html
Also looking for a photographer/producer named Greg Lamons (I believe this is how he spelled his name) he filmed a full length motion picture in '79 about Badlands skaters. He died in an auto accident about a month after the picture was complete and I don't know where the film went or where it is today.
If anyone has any idea, or know anyone who does, I'd be gald to make it worth you effort to locate it. It had a lot of extrememly classic old school pool, pipe and vert footage.
I'm also trying to find some of the old CBS Sports footage from the Califorhia free Former World Skateboard Championships that was on CBS July 2 & 3 1977 Akron, Ohio at the (Derby Downs)
I heard of a veteran video editor, named Tyrrell who faced the task of editing 17 years' worth of "CBS Sports Spectacular" tapes into 13 "Classic Sports Spectacular" shows. The quadruplex 2" tapes had sat on shelves in various warehouses, survived floods and fires, and finally in 1997 were transferred to a digital format. ok where are they? does any one know?
============================================ also adding a cool e-mail from Eltgato
Lewis, aka IASK8ER It's great to hear from skaters from back in the day. I really enjoyed the time I spent their in Des Moines. It's amazing looking at the cool pic's from back then and to see how we skated the ramps with no decks. I would like to see some of the video footage you have from then if possible. I don't have any footage of me from my Variflex days. I wish I would have heard from you earlier, because I was in Sioux City a couple of weeks ago doing a demo. Talk to you later El Gato
WELL ENUFF FOR NOW ENJOY THIS SITE AND THEN SURF MINE! http://www.angelfire.com/ia/vidnight/Skate.html

Richy: Thanks for posting the flyer. I hope this brings out a few new ( and old) faces.
There will be yet another underground BIG FLATLAND JAM on Sunday April 27th at the Castro Valley Community Center Basketball courts at noon. Hey Long, Thanks you have inspired me even more to keep on chargin freestyle! When I am spinning 360s or doing kickflips I will be stoked that a dork like you thinks that all freestylers are one dimensional, I am from the old school as are many of the freestylers who go on here that are well rounded in all types of riding! Any one who was on the pepsi team in the 70s did freestyle including all the narly pool legends that you have posters of on your wall.

Hi M.G. if you are looking for an old style Freestyle setup; single kick no concave, Casperindustries offers them.
Take a look at www.casperindidustries.com Online shopping is available as well. Here is a link to some actual shot of Casper Freestyle decks; the black one in the middle is the single kick version. http://home.arcor.de/skateyoyo/Fotos/Casper_Freestyledecks.jpg
