I was fortunate to see Gunter skate back in '86 in Oceanside, CA. Actually I got to skate against him, I took 6th and know he did better. He was one of the few AMs that sticks out in my memory of that contest. He was amazing back then, so I'm sure once he polishes off the rusty spots (so to speak) he'll be heads over everyone else. So I'm not surprised he won the Casper Pro this year.

My youngest son Robert is 34 years old today.
Robert won the 1977 Oceanside Freestyle Skateboard Championship at the age of 8. Today he lives in Corralitos California and accompanies me as the photographer to all the Northern California Jams. He has taken over 2000 digital photos of the 4 jams we have done so far. He is always sure to get pictures of everyone at the jam. He makes copies of the photos onto CD and we send some of the CD's to interested skaters that were at the jam.
He also videoed the San Francisco 2000 freestyle world championship, that footage he made into a video called "This Way Out". Robert is an electronics whiz and is developing a TV system so we can present the jams live on the WFSA web site. We plan to have "This Way Out" and other items, like a 12 month calendar developed from Roberts photos, on the "now being remodeled" WFSA website. The new donain address is www.wfsafreestyle.org. Please check it out and join the WFSA if you have not already, or if you have changed your email address in the last year. Thanx
Next No Cal jam is Sat. Oct. 25th at Rengstorff Park in Mt. View CA Noon 'til the hot dogs run out... This will be on my 45th anni. of skateboarding.
Next So Cal jam is Sun Oct. 19th at Edison Park in Huntington Beach CA Noon 'til the chips and dips are gone. Hosted by the Carrasco Family

All:
I've been travelling, so I'm not sure how many of you may be aware of this. My apologies if this has already been posted...
Our friend and fellow freestyler, Mike Rogers, has encountered difficult times. Please read the letter by Jill Gresko at the following Web site.
http://www.mr1skateshop.net/M.R.%20Fund.htm
He's got around 240 stitches and staples from his surgery, not to mention what had to be removed during the process. You may e-mail him for more details at MRskateshop@aol.com.
For those of you who do not know Mike, Terry and I competed with him back in NSA during the early 90's. He also hosted the recent West Palm Beach freestyle contests. He's a friend in tough times and can use our help.
A benefit is being held for him at the West Palm Beach YMCA Skatepark on November 22, 2003. Please contact me if there's anyone who's willing donate product for raffle or participate in a freestyle demo.
Thank you.
P.S. Please add http://www.mr1skateshop.net/M.R.%20Fund.htm to your Web sites to help get the word out. I put a link to his information on the front page of mine (http://www.techundergroundskateboarding.com) already.

Hey holy rollers, I wanna ask an annoying thing (sorry). Freestyle? Where's the gear these days? I'd love to put a setup together, all I can find on the web is some Tracker 105s (cool!). No wheels, no decks.
Any tips for shopping, you all? Please don't say ebay. I'd love some powell freestyles and a basic 27x7 ish board (umm are those the right kind of measurements? Its been so long since I even saw a F'style board! Why did I ever sell that Mullen Chessboard!!??), so if any of you generous Headz wanna pass on some bits.... Or, does anyone know of any decent blanks, or bigga blanks that could be cut down nice?
One (-wheeled 720) love. Peace to ALL the rolling people. Sküls >>benjamin@theppc.com
PS Please check out this teaser trailer for an upcoming British skate documentary - ROLLIN THROUGH THE DECADES - charting the big changes happening in sk8ing through the 80s and 90s, and looking at the fate of London sk8ers' spiritual home, The South Bank. ROLLIN'... will feature as-yet-unseen amazing 80's footage, including some legendary US and European Freestyle Sk8ing from European comps, sessions and skate workshops. For example, we got Super 8 of Mullen aged 16 in an impromptu jam sesh at the Germany camp in something like '85 borrowed from a UK veteran vert and freestle skater called Sue Hazel. One Love to Sue! Check it out the teaser on www.stockwellskatepark.com, (our site www.rollinthroughthedecades.com is still under construction, but there's some stuff on there so your support would be excellent.) Just so you know, this is a skater-made movie, without any corporate sponsorship during production, all help begged or stolen!

HOLY CRAP!!! I looked at Ebay and found a Rodney Mullen SMA Dogfood freestyle deck and the bid is at $100 so far. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3625239959&category=16263 What gets me is this board is even used (look at the deck top pic)...and what REALLY gets me is I had one of these decks for the last 10 years never used and in mint (but no plastic wrap) condition. That is until last winter when I got some skidplates for the ends and griptaped up the top. And because I didn't like the graphics, I spraypainted the bottom red, laid a lace doyle overtop and spraypainted black to make a black and red space-like pattern.
Frankly, I didn't like the shape (nose and tail too short) so I never hooked it up before. Anyhow...carry on!

Have gotten a few e-mails lately wondering about the new websit. Our webmaster is a little behind -- but it should be worth the wait. We're hoping to finalize everything in the next week or two. There won't be any changes at SK8KINGS.COM until it's all done -- complete overhaul going on behind the scenes. Cheers and skate safe!

PEACE LOVE & FLATLAND:COME ON LOSERS!What's wrong with debating or even fighting? Obviously AJ and Bob don't like eachother, let them go Bro. Fighting and debating can be productive because it will expose the root of the problem.

Ummmmm,
Where to begin.....? First off, I will not take sides. Repeat..., I will not take sides!!................................ I can't believe that I had to open my letter by saying that! There shouldn't be any sides at all when it comes to the promotion and future development of the sport we love! Yes, people will have different opinions, but everyone's opinions is extremely important and deserve to be heard. All of us, both freestylers and those who admire and support us in spirit, have to be willing to take some chances and some flack. Those in positions of responsibility need to do just that...........be responsible. No one ever said democracy was easy. These forums are public therefore; egos are always at risk of getting squashed. People have reps. to uphold and credibility to defend, so when a posting gets personal that's when things go to sh*#t. Lately, it seem as if we have all digressed to the lowest common denominator. This my friends…..is not productive. I’m good friends with many of you, but more importantly…….., respect all of you. Let’s keep it real.
Later, Joe Humeres.....NYC

Wow Bob, whats with all the anger? I was just at the F-Forum and you where singing highly of me (old guns/young guns in the Freestyle discussion)and when I was out in California you seemed to be fine with me we even had a long conversation about Freestyle and even Nils liked me. I posted my opinion and you didn't like it and for some reason took it personal even thou it wasn't directed towards you or anyone in particular just a general statement to light a fire thats all. I come onto this and it seems you are doing the oppisite and including me in your rebutale with Shannon, whats with that? IF you have a problem with what I do or am about contact me. Who is this posting as Bob Staton? Is it really you Bob? I can't believe that a person that is apart of the WFSA would say these things or act in this way without emailing the person of questions or issues they may have with an individual, thats not the WFSA way, is it. To tell you the truth I am confused about these negative posts that I am being pulled into. If it is Bob come correct and email me about your "issue". Thanks A.J.
P.S. ShaNelly I can handle this, I apprieciate your offer however you don't know me, I don't have beef with anyone perse because I don't let the garbage pile up and get me down I take it out. If I seem a little ruff and tuff to anyone I appologize I am not from Cali. I am from Philly!

Why are you all fighting? Cant you guys get along? I thought Freestylers were supose to be happy, gay and soft spoken? Now what is the problem maybe I can help.try and keep your post short, only bringing up the main point you qnt to convey. I get lost reading your post to many point and your not saying anything.Try again remember (main point). Somebody tell me whats going on in the freestyle world. From what I can tell this Grogen guy is doing demos at the X-games,is that all thats going on? AJ Kohn, fromreading the F-Forum got kicked off? seems like he always got a beef with someone? Somebody fill me in on where he's coming from. Let me try and figure this out for you all. Mrs Dr.ShaNelly
