Looking for one huh?Yeah, you and everybody else!:)I'm just gonna make one, just like the original,in fact my speed board,right now is like a Taperkick pintail,with Kevlar in the middle instead of a walnut ply,carbon stingers inlaid instead of walnut strips,maple under the trucks, ash, oak, spruce for most of the construction.

I am looking for a SIMS Pure Juice, either just the board or a complete set up. The ones I am looking for are 36"+ and have the vertical laminates of alternating dark/light wood. It doesn't have to be NOS, just in good condition with no major cracks etc.
Willing trade or pay $$$.

Sorry guys i failed to point out that i was also looking for one of the fibreflex short boards, i am not sure of the model name or anything but they made them with a green top and red bottom they were as bendy as heck and i think they were made completely from fibreglass, correct me if i'm wrong. i am not sure if they are still in production, i have also seen a few of these go for some stupid money on ebay. they did a slalom version in red that was stunning. im desperate for one of these. i have seen some other company knocking out decks that are very similar called flexdex. any help would be appreciated greatly. thanks again.Richard

I have two sets of old Kryptonics 63 1/2mm. They are orange with white hubs. I'm guessing they're around 82a (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong). They are barely used (less than two hours). FOR SALE or TRADE.

Acme was only making the wood ply longboards and shortboards and the re-issue 29" slalom Fibreflex, they never made the current vertically laminated longboard Fibreflexes. It was over two years ago that the G&S license ended. G&S then moved their wood board production to Vision(Aka Select Distribution) and started production on the current Fibreflex longboards at Compression I believe, I know the place was in Oregon or Washington. The wood boards are no longer on the Select Dist. web page and there have been a ton of the G&S and Vision wood longboards on Ebay lately. The seller is from Orange county, the same place as Select.

I have viewed the argument below regarding fibreflex and G&S and who makes them now. all i want to know is where can i get hold of one of the new fibreflex decks, i live in the UK and didn't realise they were still in production albeit by a different manufacturer. i have been to the G&S site and mailed them (three times) regarding the purchase of a pintail longboard already but have not had a reply, but since reading the message below i would prefer if i could to get my hands on a fibreflex board. i saw the references to ACME but i have no idea how to get hold of them on-line(do they have a site).thanks in advance for any help that you can give me.

Fibreflex's - manufactured by Compression Technologies.
Wood ply boards - manufactured by Select Distribution (AKA Vision). They used to have G&S up on their site but it came down a couple of months ago, but you can see that the decks are the same as the G&S boards with a different graphic. notice the shape size and lenght of some of the 48" boards look exactly like the Dewey Weber skate. Hummm.

Just picked up my copy of "Concrete Wave," where it confirms that ACME indeed is manufacturing the Fibreflex decks for G&S. (I knew I'd read that somewhere besides in the Charged article.) Doesn't say who makes the non-Fibreflex G&S decks, but I'm inclined to believe roger, Bob, kaylee, & skategeezer & their reliable sources over SimFucious.

SimFucious, I suggest you do some homework before you go bashing people on the NCDSA site as being stupid & wrong. Just because a deck or wheel or t-shirt has a brand-name printed on it doesn't mean jack; ever heard of OEM? Plenty of companies farm out the actual manufacturing (just look at the Indy thread over in the trucks section). Do you think Sony or Warner actually presses all their CD's, too? No - they farm it out to about a dozen different CD pressing plants. So don't get your panties all bunched up & start calling people names because you find out that G&S doesn't make the Blacktip.
As far as I can tell, G&S doesn't even actually make the Fibreflex, either.
About two years ago, Charged Magazine published an article on the Fibreflex. Some of this is outdated, but it implies that G&S is *not* the company making the Fibreflex's. I quote:
"Gordon & Smith is no longer in the skateboard business, but you can still buy G&S boards. They're now made by a company called Acme, which is actually owned by ex-G&S pro Jim Grey. Jim understands what G&S was all about, having ridden for them for about eight years, and he remains faithful to their vision and history. So what would make more sense for Jim than to remake the greatest G&S skateboard ever: the noble Fibreflex.
Beau Brown, a world-class downhill and slalom skateboarder working at ACME, has taken up the formidable task of remaking the Fibreflex. Beau is one of the few guys left who knows Fibreflex from its early days and is still riding. He just got back on the downhill circuit and is currently ranked second in the world.
Beau's designs for the new Fibreflex are reminiscent of the early shapes. The board is 27.5 inches long with a similar wheelbase. Slalom boards are made for carving turns, so they don't have the kicktail of modern boards. The latest incarnation has camber, or arc, that peaks just slightly toward the rear of the board. Gordon Plastics is providing the Bo-Tuff (epoxy and fiberglass layers on the top and bottom of Fibreflexes) so these new boards have the same responsive springy feel as the ones made more than 30 years ago by Mike Gordon on his hand press."
It goes on to say that a 34" model is 'coming out soon,' and you can contact ACME (*not* G&S) with orders & inquiries.
Maybe Beau could post an answer to clear this up?

Wait a sec. i didn't reread the posts,but i don't recall anybody mentioning that there are two levels of G&S decks available right now,horizontals,probabely made by vision, and the glassed v-lams,made elsewhere,probabely a snowboard/ski manufacturer,these are more money and the ones that carvers rave about.

G&S has told me that they (blacktips) are "made elsewhere". Venders have stated that they are not made by G&S, but by a manufacture that is licensed to do so. As a fellow G&S fan I can sympathize with SimFucious, my first reaction to the news was "say it ain't so". I seriously doubt that they make the Fibreflexes themselves anymore - welcome to business 101.

The G&S Black tip may not be a fibreflex, but it certainly isn't a vision. Maybe the G&S label on the bottom of every black tip in america is fake!!! doubtful highly doubtful. G&S had been a profound company in longboarding for over a quater of a century and i'd have to say that i'd trust their word over yours. Deja Vu! Just so you know, a Blacktip isn't a Fibreflex. That's kinda like saying "Randal Downhill RII" or "Bones Swiss Reds". The wood decks don't have fiberglass and therefore aren't in the Fibreflex series. Besides, they're made by Vision, who's licensing the G&S name, like Acme did in the 80's.

G&S 44x9 Pintail with phat red/black design on the bottom. Board shows basic wear and tear. little scuff on the nose(easily sanded off) and scratches on the bottom(could easily be waxed or painted) I have 2 extra holes near each mounting spot so old skool trucks could fit. Grip tape is a torn(about 3 milimeters)right over the new mounting holes. this board is up for TRADE.

I can't speak for the others, but as for me, the appeal is on several levels.
The first is that this deck is an interpetive of a board that is very rare. The sims/toft 8 wheeler. Not a great rider by any stretch of the imagination, but very cool and very scarce. The boards in this family that were made in the late 70's were years ahead in construction techniques, materials, and workmanship. This deck pays a huge compliment to the sims without even being close to a copy.
Which gets to the heart of the Veteran board. The workmanship is excellent. The wood used for the laminations
is beautiful. The painting on the deck is gorgeous! It reeks of "old world" craftsmanship. Something that is not seen on very many of the decks made today. Sure there are lots of nice ones... but it's not the same.
When I make something with my hands, part of me is "in" that product. Part of the Winwoods guys is "in" this deck... you can feel it when you hold it, when you look at it you can see it. If you don't understand what I mean... then this will all sound very silly, I know.
It's a chance to own a new twist on a tiny peice of skate history. It's just a very cool peice of movable, skateable art... HR
