Obtaining Khiro Ceramic Bearings??????

So how does one go about getting these red-hot bearings?, I did'nt see them on the Khiro website, the Sk8Kings website or any other site.
Who is selling them and how much do they cost??

These are fair points, but it was not meant as an endorsement...I'm not expecting people to go buy them just because I used them. I found a product that I'm really happy with, have lost/bent seals on expensive bearings while cleaning them before, had to buy more lube because I couldn't find the stuff I bought last time because it wasn't all together.etc.
Now I keep it all in one box...its simple now, just hope I don't lose that! ;)
You're right too Herbn, the people who are impressed with them are the guys I ride with!They may well not be for everyone, my point is....they work for me.

i don't know what the nitro deal is i don't see a price mentioned like they cost --.-- and i got some lube and seals which "i" normally have to buy anyway.i've never had to buy seals and the pretty much standard bottle of tri flo lasts years in a skateshop. I just remember i have a set of nitro's in stock,i may have to try them,no body knows what they are,nobody asks for them,it's not a big deal i have lots of stuff i have to actively sell. The Nitro i got are in a tube Ceramics must come in a fancier case but i don't know what's so unhandy about a tube.Product reviews,when you're enammoured with your new,anything, tend to go on just a bit to long,"and the handy little pull tab made the cellofane just so easy to open". Even pro or rider endorsements,with stuff like .5 seconds faster, when you get hooked up with product you're psyched and you skate better,it's worked for me and i sold the hell out of their product for years. In person is totally different when somebodys' rippin it up and finnishes a ride with a very honnest "whew these new bearings haul ass" it's totally believable,and you know them and they seem to be faster ,you ask what bearings and you're inclined to try them if you happen to be in need of some fresh bearings.In print,on the internet,not so much.

Khiro Bob....THANK YOU!Now you have produced yet another 'must-have' product! I approached the Nitro bearings with an open mind having ridden pretty much all of the top end ceramics available over the years and pride myself on not being swayed by hype.
Well, they proved to be the smoothest running and fastest bearings it has been my pleasure to ride. And I know its been said before, but its incredible value to get spacers AND spare shields in the kit, plus extra lube too! Thats another $10 worth of stuff that you normally have to buy seperately, and all this in a very handy size container rather than a tube...Awesome!

ok these are by far the worst bearings on the market today. before i got these i had a set of mini logos and they kicked ass. after almost a year of riding they were still going strong but i busted a truck and lost it so i had to get new ones. long story short, dont buy world industries no matter how low on cash you are.

Just had the postman put a package through the letterbox....Nitro Bearings, Racer "X" Edition! Cannot wait to try them...just need to wait for the streets to dry-Thanks Bob.First impressions? Very well packaged and outstanding to get replacement shields,more lube oil and spacers, stuff you would normally have to pay for seperately! Amazing value, and very quick service.

Coming from you, this is a huge compliment. I'm stoked that you tested and have been getting the same results as I have. I must agree with you, these ceramic bearings are so fast. After two race seasons on NITROS I am convienced that these bearings are by far the fastest I have ever ridden. The cermaic bearing kit is all-inclusive-everything you need with your bearings and of the highest quality. ps- I also ride the steel and delgrin (sp?) cage ABEC 7 NITROS in park, pool etc...and find they are incredible as well. But for the ultimate speed while racing- the cermics absolutly RULE!

Below, someone has written that they "literally destroyed their Bones reds with paint thinner". I'd offer that a destroyed set of Bones reds is nothing more than a good excuse to get a set of better bearings for less money from Ed at Pleasure Tools, but I'm not here to be opportunistic and snarky.
Paint thinner (as opposed to paint stripper) is ordinary mineral spirits. This is whats in virtually every parts washer in every car, motorcycle and bike shop. It's mothers milk for metal things. If I haven't washed 10,000 pounds of metal parts in mineral spirits in my life I'm a liar. The notion that paint thinner wi;; harm metal is simply wrong. Period.
For cleaning bearings, remove the seals or shields, and use the solvent of your choice to wash out every trace of oil, grease or dirt. Wash the seals or shields. Let them air dry in a clean place. Like really, really clean. Lube and assemble when dry.
You can use mineral spirits, lacquer thinner, brakekleen, contact cleaner, citrus solve, MEK, whatever. Doesn't matter a whit.

I have been testing the new Nitro Racer X Ceramics. They are FAST! The first day I tested them, straight out of the box, I took 1.02 seconds off my time on a 14-15 second course. I continued the test that day, and all my times with the Nitros were faster than any of the 4 runs on my other bearings.
I tested them again the next day, this time warming up with the Nitros for 4 runs then switching back. I gained .5 seconds with the other bearings. That was proof enough for me.
Plus I like that the Nitro kit comes in a box with speed rings, spacers, lube, and a bunch of extra seal covers. Those buggers are a b^&%$ when you take them off, then they bend and you can never get them straight again. Extra covers are a great, innovative idea by Nitro's Khiro Bob and Jason Mitchell.

came close once upon as time ,but i think that the aflling down drunk opinion on wines is a valid one it may seem incoherent but it makes sense at the time,every drunk does seem to have a favorite poison,do you ask an engineer what type of alcohol will get you wrecked the best. When it really comes down to it i think we may be placing (just a bit) to much emphasis on this part of our equipment,if you unknowingly swapped out the bearings of a top skater with any of lets say anybodys top five bearing choises,they'd still rip.MY top five bearings are;in no order, OUst 9's,POwell swiss,Flip 7's,Biltins,Speeddemon gold 7's (oiled), different budgets for different bearings,sometimes when i'm just in the mood for a quick disposable fix,the flips or the speedemons are my go to poison.They're always on 8mm axles.

hugh r has done a pretty good evaluation of the available bearings on the market. Cant remember his website, but if u type in his name, i think you should be able to find it. He did a pretty good job of objectively reviewing a bunch of different bearings. i think the six balls seemed to have the best stats.
In my preference, i like bones bearings the most. Not the china bones, i seem to not have such good luck with those. Ive had a set of six balls and those were WAY fast and lasted a long time. They eventually got rusted because i let someone else ride them thru water.... NOw i have a set of the labrynths and they seem to hold up pretty well in keeping the dust out. there are shields on both sides, which may be a bit unnecessary , but i kept them in anyways. I cleaned them out a while ago which went for a while w/o any cleaning, but they seemed completely clean!
for budget bearings, i htink the powel mini logos are awesome. Ive had those for like 6 years and theyre still running strong.
i guess powell knows how to make skate bearings, theyve been doing it for the longest i think. I havent tried ceramics yet, but i bet theyre pretty good too. Ive heard rockn rons makes the bearigns for bones (or they get it from the same ppl), and they just stamp on their logo, but i cannot say for sure. so they should be on par w/ the bones bearings

Everything I see and know about picking bearings comes to the same conclusion:
Skaters are like falling down drunks trying to evaluate wine.
Bearings are, in essence, similar in everything except workmanship and materials used, most things talked about have no bearing (pun not intended) upon how you happen to perceive the ride. In fact, I would be willing to bet that none of you could tell the difference in ride in blind test as follows:
1) Sets of bearings are obtained of grade ABEC 1 and ABEC 7 (7 being about the highest grade used in skating.) All from one manufacture.
2) Sets of wheels all of the same batch or model number (batch would be better.)
3) Your skates are taken away to a closed room, and the wheels set for one of the two grades, 1 or 7, are installed. The grade installed is recorded, but only the person who installed them knows which are which.
4)You spend an hour skating.
5) The skates are refitted with the other grade or they are fitted with the exact same grade, but a brand new set.
The skates are returned and you spend the same amount of time trying them.
Could you tell the difference in ABEC rating? Would there be any noticeable difference?
The fact is, that the fastest any of these bearings is likely to is way less than the 30,000RPM+ that they are rated for. (60MPH=10,570RPM on 53mm wheels--on larger wheels the RPM is even lower.)
So the rolling friction and ability to stand up to of axis & off-center loads (turning, pushing, stopping,) are more important than the precision of the bearings.
Rolling friction is subject to minor influences by the "fit" between bearing, race, etc, in a bearing,(which become more noticeable at high bearing speeds,) which are the elements that ABEC specs address. But more important is the overall quality of the manufacturer, and the lubricant used.
Lubricants can be nearly anything, the differences are in how well they work. At one extreme is heavy grease, which will preserve the bearing the best, but will have a higher "starting" cost, as the grease will be stiff.
The other end of the spectrum are light oils and silicone oils, these offer very little starting resistance, but which allow the bearings to roll on a thinner layer of material with less resistance.
In the end, these bearings are all being used way, way under their limits, except for the amount of non-radial force.
The type of lubricant is far more important than the precision with which the bearing is made, once you start using high precision bearings.
All grades of these bearings are engineered to a precision which is only important when run for long periods (days, weeks, month, even years,) at high speeds (up to and over 35,000RPM.)
I'd like to do the experiment, but unless someone donates a lot of bearings & wheels, I doubt that it will happen.
Meanwhile, skate, keep the bearings clean and your wheels rotated, and when you need new bearings, buy the cheapest ones you can find from the best manufacturer you can find, and lubricate them with whichever lubricant you think is best.

No comparisom anymore. While my first Skate Bearing Rockets, may have been close in speed and holding speed there is no comparaison with the Nuclear or Ballistech Missiles. I made them specifically for holding speed. The Ballistech will be fine for most. The Steel Ball Ballistech Bearings IS MUCH faster and holds speed MUCH LONGER than Bones Ceramics or even my old Ceramics, which smoked all those other brands you mentioned. The Ballistech Missiles are a breaktrhough. You can tighten you axle nut all the way down and the wheel/bearing will still spin freely. In vert skating where everyone wants to back off 1/4 turn, no need to anymore, infact you will get even better bearing performance with your axle nut snug and properly pre-loading the bearings. If your axle nut is not snug, the bearings will misaligh and not work as a matched set as designed.
Nuclear Missiles is way beyond anything anyone has ever ridden. They are truly for the Utterly Insane. Thats not a marketing ploy, its a fact. These bearings scare the s#@! out of me and Im a speed demon. Nuclear Missiles WILL be too fast in some cases and will scare you with its breakaway speed. The bearing doesnt slow down. Get momentum behind it, and take off. Beating Oust, Bones, Ninja, That was last years work. Ive accomplished that already. Now its about beating myself and coming up with a bearing faster than anything else I or anyone else has made or designed.
You may be able to compare those other brands to my old Rockets. But not anymore. Ballistech Missiles and Nuclear Missiles are available now with the new Ceramic Rockets Stage 2's and Rockets Stage 2's coming in September. Since the Ballistech Missile was faster than our old Ceramic Rockets, I had to re-deign the Rockets to make them faster. i'm not sure what you are asking. the dimensions of a 608 bearing are 8mm ID x 22mm OD x 7mm Width. The spacers used between the two bearings depend on the wheels you want to use. There are wheels that take spacers that are close to 7mm,8mm,9mm, 10mm and a few other oddballs. The most common are what we call "10mm" which is actually closer to .400". Next most common would be the old roller skate standard "8mm". But if you want proper sized spacers so you can tighten the nut down and still have the bearings aligned, the spacer has to be just right. And if you were to measure the wheel hub, you'd find slight differences in different wheel brands and even amongst the 4wheels in a set. Hubbed wheels are going to be more similar to each other than pure urethane wheels (because the manufacturing process of non-hubbed wheels makes it nearly impossible to get the same hub width all the time). Hope some of that was useful...
