ChinaBones
On 6/10/1999 JD wrote in from (205.188.nnn.nnn)

BoardWildMan,
ChinaBones have red shields on one side and clear on the other. On the red side it says China Bones. Your bearings are probably just some bearings made in China.

Chinabone ????
On 6/6/1999 BoardWildMan wrote in from (130.67.nnn.nnn)

I have a couple of bearings on my new board, SURPRISE !
what I wondered about was:
On the bearings, it stands "China" , it doesn't say anything about ABEC, and my friend told that they probably are Chinabone bearings.
Tell what it is, and if it really is Chinabones !

the crash

Cool, give me a day or two to write it down on paper first and get the rough details down. Until then I filled out a smaller/funny incident report to hold you over.

the crash!!!
On 6/1/1999 Steve wrote in from (205.188.nnn.nnn)

Keith!! You should write out the story of your crash in detail and put it in the crashing section. It'd make a great story, even if it is luging! Luging with cars... crazy. I'm crazy to go flatlanding when there's cars about.

oops forgot to add

Forgot to add that Ninja Ceramic bearings are 18.00 for one bearing. On my luge you need eight of them. Pricey pricey pricey.

ceramic vs. regular
On 6/1/1999 Keith Fellmy wrote in from (134.68.nnn.nnn)

No they aren't a rip-off so long as you know their limitations. They are great for all out racing like X-games. But they need to be replaced after a days racing. Serious racing demands serious equipment. If you had to change bearings every race to stay competitive then you would have to do it or get beat. To use ceramic bearings on fun runs or other non competitve runs is a waste of money. Once me and my other luge buddies get healthy again I'm going to try your little test. We were riding down a hill and the guy in front paniced when a car crossed the center line to pass another car. He did a quick stop and we plowed him. I was in back (their lightweight 140 pound bodies accelerate faster than my 220 pound body-once I get going I usually catch them) and I missed him but didn't miss the guardrail at 70 mph (chase truck speed). My arm is healing nicely. The lead guys ribs are doing much better eventhough he says it still hurts to breath.
Let you know about my tests later.

Keith

swiss black bones
On 5/27/1999 dan wrote in from (205.188.nnn.nnn)

good, smooth, long spinning bearings. also have removable cage and spacers. they are very good for a longboard or a trickboard. cost around $30 and to keep in perfect shape work is needed although it pays off.

ceramic vs regular
On 5/26/1999 Steve wrote in from (205.188.nnn.nnn)

So what you're saying is that the ceramics were 7 mph faster than your old abec 5s were when the ceramics were new, but after 6 runs down the hill the ceramics were the same as the old conventional abec 5s? Sounds like a rip-off, my friend. Did you try comparing brand new ceramics with brand new conventionals of the same rating? I bet there's no difference if they have the same lube.

ceramic bearings
On 5/26/1999 Keith Fellmy wrote in from (134.68.nnn.nnn)

Hi guys

I mainly ride a street luge and have tried ceramic bearings (Ninja brand). They are 7 mph faster than standard ABEC 5 bearings. After 6 runs down the hill they were the SAME as ABEC 5 that I've been running.

Thanks

Keith

P.S.-I 've now bought three longboards off of ebay (Powell, ATF, and a Watson) so I'll see you on the hills, so long as you can get to Indiana or Kentucky.

Hey,
I have a set of black panther bearings with removeable shields. The shields come off real easy, but I cant seem to get the bearings out very easily. Are they supposed to come out? How should I be cleaning these?

Generic ABEC 7
On 5/10/1999 eggman wrote in from (156.39.nnn.nnn)

Hey all.
I was in the local skate shop, looking for bearings. I was gonna get some China Bones cause I know they are good and pretty cheap. Anyway, they were out of them. Bill, the owner of "Bill's Wheels", told me he had some "generic abec 7's" I just think they are motor bearings. Anyway, they are rippin! So fast and smooth! Way better than China Bones, and China Bones are great.

I don't know what my point is, just thought I would let you know. So start checkin out those electric motors! You just might get yourseves some good bearings!

also about $20 cheaper than normal bones ( which are pretty much
the same ) so go get some a try them for yourself!

Germans
On 4/29/1999 Avorack wrote in from ()

I have skated alot of the more expensive bearings, but the cheap ass germans have held up for 3 years and there are stil fast and smooth. the swiss gold and blacks are pretty gay when you put them up next to my kick-ass germans. Speed is what it's all about and the germans have been the fastest bearing i have ever riden.

swiss bones
On 4/23/1999 phillip wrote in from ()

It now seems that swiss bearings come with black sheilds. That ought to make them last a lot longer than the gold sheilds. I currently have black panthers which have black sheilds and they've lasted just fine for two years. My brother had speed demons with gold sheilds and they got slow after two months and ripped up to shit in anoter 4 months.
