ha, i just thought it was funny because this is the worst i've been hurt- after almost four years on lonboards doing both slalom and goin 50mph, i step on this thing and bust my shi*. i'm getting an edwards model from gravity, it's still pretty long but i think it'll be a good all around board that will work in the park too. oh, and i was the most padded of all my friends- figures :)

Hey Dan, How did you pay your dues? Perhaps you are more comfy riding a wider &/or longer board?...those popsicle sticks w/their shorter wheelbases take awhile to get used to...a friend of mine used to only ride boards longer than 46" and he slowly worked his way down to a 32/33" board but it took him many months and several boards.....there are boards that are more suitable to pool/park riding that are shorter than your dh board but longer than the typical popsicle board...find the right board for you, your feet, your terrain, experiment....start off slowly and work your way higher on the walls....what about your wheels....do you have enough riser pads so you won't get wheelbite?Maybe you need some softer wheels as well....heal up fast, wear your pads, as you get more comfy riding, then go for it....but, most of all- have fun! Good Luck. PS: Dont worry about the scars from the stitches....chicks dig scars.

FYI...
In having worked to help bring about 2 skateparks to our town, I found most skatepark designers estimate about $20/square foot for 'crete.
That really makes those prefab skate ramps look like the pile of crap they are

Want your own residential park? Huh? How about concrete?

Let's see. This little beauty is almost 1,000 dollars. Now, I wonder, what could I build with 1,000 dollars out of concrete?
Let’s say that this thing is 4 feet wide by approximately 7 feet long. Giving a whole 28 square feet of skateboarding surface. Ok.
Now, with that same 1,000 dollars, let’s say that I purchased bags of concrete at 2 dollars a bag, and rebar. How many square feet of skatepark could I build? Considering that 4 inch thick is as thin as I would want to make it, and considering the cost of rebar, we’ll say rebar is around 200 bucks. So, that’s 800 bucks for concrete. According to my calculations, I could make a 713 square foot skatepark with that same amount of money, 1,000 dollars. And that out of concrete!
Now, you might say, well you didn’t calculate in the labor costs or delivery, etc.!
True. So, let’s consider that there’s an average overhead of what 40% for those various costs. That leaves 60% of 713 square feet which is 427.8 square feet compared to 28 square feet.
Now, which would you choose? Concrete, that will last for ever (or nearly so). Or a boring ramp that will last for what? 10 years?
And consider that your ramps can’t be used at when it's cold at night, or during the winter months. Dew and condensation makes the ramps completely unridable during those times (especially in the northern areas). Where, with concrete, not only is it cheaper, it’s safer and can be made into any shape imaginable.

Since there's no Pipes forum on NCDSA, I guess this is the next best place. Anyone interested in showing some out-of-towners the way to the Baldy pipe on Sunday afternoon or Monday morning? See my post in the slalom forum. Thanks.
