Stamford, CT just announced that they selected Grindline to build an 11,000 sq. ft skatepark. The anticipated completion date is spring 2007. We've been waiting a long time for this decision - sorta sad breaking ground didn't get it but sheesh Grindline needs to plant a stake in the northeast.

I was up in Burlington, Vermont visiting the in-laws last weekend and also met up with this gem behind the Burton snowbaords factory. Best wood bowl I've ever skated. Ramp armor surface, all pressure treated wood, big bullnose coping in the deep end - top notch construction. And so far the Burton folks are nice about letting "outsiders" skate it ... but its probably not a good idea to show up with a big crew.

named because nick got a little head trauma while we were cleaning out the make shift floor they put over this pool..
this house... is totally empty and has been that way for a couple years.. covered in spray paint on the inside... but it has an INDOOR POOL/BOWL in it.... its in the middle of nowhere
a school on one side... and new houses that arent done being built yet on the other side... and oh behind this house is an abondonded wharehouse... it looks like it came straight out of a counter strike game.. we are thinking of playing a little paint ball in there.. ill get some pics of that place the next time we go..
there is a lot of work that needs done.. you can see in the short video..
makeshift floor needs to come out..... water needs to be taken out... bowl cleaned (its pretty freaking nasty) the carpet needs to come out around the pool.. its molded... the rest of the house is MASSIVE, but the carpets are all water logged and just nasty as hell... .. we had no lights.... the place requires alot of work like i said... but its totally ours...
im going to the archives tomorrow to see who the last owner was and what happened to it...
ok here it is.... the TRAUMA BOWL
http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y64...nt=Picture.flv
nick acutally passed out about 4 seconds after that video ended.... but he came back.. apparently he isnt good with seeing blood... i was worried he lost too much blood.. but that wasnt the case...

hey, Apparently, the "official" Grand Opening is Friday the 24th of November; that's right, the day after Thanksgiving. For those of you who wish to avoid the CROWD, I suggest the following Monday, the 27th. The kids will be back in school, and the place opens at dawn. See ya then. Chris Olden

hey Gang, The "official" opening as of last Thursday(this coming from the person "responsible" for getting it open...*cough*) "We're still looking at a mid to late-November opening. The hours will be dawn to dusk. Pads and helmet required, but it will be self-enforced.(i.e.-go ahead and skate w/o pads and a helmet, but the cops WILL give out tickets!!) Lights will go in during the spring of next year." Personally, I cannot wait for the mid-week a.m. sessions!!! Dump the kids at school and skate!! I'll try and keep ya posted. chris olden

Yeah... same here. Still can't nail down an exact date. Guess I'll just wait till after it's open to the public then plan a trip accordingly. Thanks for the reply.

I was in arkansas this weekend, and skated the kanis bowl. I like stuff like that. lots of character. BUT, the city park was very sketchy with strange activity. I was alone and decided to leave after about 45 minutes. whats the deal with the park, was it a dangerous place?

Did they finally nail down an actual date? We're currently trying to assemble some people to get up there to skate that place. I don't have to be there for Opening Day, but I DO want to skate it and grab some pics. Looks to be like one FUN skatepark! I'm stoked for the people that live nearby... it's been way too long for them to aquire some decent skate terrain.
