Hello fellow Skaters, I am currently on a mission to photograph as many OC ditches as possible for an upcoming skateboard website. If you know of a skate-able ditches (with no water or tons of dirt in the bottom) & would like to help me out, please send me an email to:
randyapar(at)cox.net
I will be focusing on Orange County first. Then Riverside, San Berdo, LA then San Diego. I appreciate all your help & hope to make it a successful site for all.
Thanks.

Hello,
I've heard rumors to a very nice drainage ditch in central Indiana. It's suppose to be around Martinsville off of Hwy. 37. Somewhere close to an apartment complex.
We had some guys at our skatepark that knew where it was and was going to take us to it but I haven't seen it since. I've searched Google Earth but I'm not really sure if I'd know it if I saw it.
I'm just wondering if anyone here knows about it? It's just going to be a couple of old farts so don't worry about it getting over run.

Here is the ditch I use to live at back in High School & a couple years after. 1981-84. When I wasn't at the Colton Ranch or skating half pipe demo's for Wheels West I was here in this ditch all day until night. Me and my friend even had a doubles routine here. great days, great sessions. It is almost in the same condition 24 years later. a lot more graffiti but with a little tlc she'll be ready to roll again.

Ditches in Gainesville, Florida

Anyone know of any good ditches or banks in Gainesville, Florida? I just started longboarding and I cannot stop, but roads in Gainesville suck. When it's not raining like crazy, only half the area where I live is skateable + it ruins my wheels. Thanks!

water in the ditch, and growing up sucks...

On the water thing...we would show up in the am with some old towels and a mop, make a little damn with the towels, and spread the water out...in the summer sun it would evaporate fast...then in an hour we would skate the Franconia Ditch(northern VA) till the towel damn would fail...winter/fall was the best time to skate franconia ditch...I hate water on my skate surface due to the job it does on bearings...
Ditch skating rocks so much, but now that I am older, I am more timid on skateing where it says no trespassing...I guess I have lost my nerve...but if I get busted, I could loose my clearance, then my job...and my wife and daughter need me to stay employed...man, growing up sucks...

Do you wait for ditches to be completely dry or do you live with a small flow at the bottom(and how much) that you blast through? I had a bad fall at a park this summer hitting a small, small puddle and losing traction and slamming hard when the rear wheels slid out. I guess if you were doing big sweeping turns at the top of the walls traction wouldn't be so critical. And the polished concrete in a park is deadly when wet, unlike rougher 'natural' concrete....

Those ditches are in Albuquerque,NM, the best skatetown in the world.
San Jose is WAY different, no way I will ever post any pics of San Jose anything, way too crowded out here for that.

Hey dan, that does look like a good ditch! Do the two ditches merge together? How far apart are they? would it be possible to gap from ditch to ditch? Where in San Jose is this? Ride it like you own it!

Right on, Randifer! Flower St. was a rad ditch. My friend and I were looking for one that we've heard about in the Newport Beach area. After looking at some aerial shots, I think we may have located it. We shall see. There's also a couple of good ones out in the I.E.
If any of you are ever up for a ditch mission, feel free to contact me. I'll bring brooms, dustpans, and not afraid to do a little clean up.
