Wassup out there?
I have some news, I rode a Radikal last Saturday and it friggin kicked butt. I was amazed at the precision and ease with which I could negotitate a hybrid slalom course. I've also been riding Manx wheels...damn, what a killer wheel. I rode them to second place at JPL a couple/three weeks ago. Without any time on them, I went out and started throwing down times I didn't think possible. They have all the speed and grip you could want.
Anyone else out there skating?

Road rage Out Law racing info and rules first Race DEC 14.8pm meet at studio Warm up Dec7 8pm meet at my studio Race will count for points in the Garage racing series! Road rage racing will be held on a mellow downhill road in east San Jose. Top speed will be no faster than 40 mph. This is a drafting race there are a few turns on this hill and they are all sweepers. There is enough room on this hill to pass 2 times maybe more but twice is the norm. The road is around 1mile long with an excellent run out. There are two or three other roads in the area that are also a blast. One is faster than the road we will be racing on and the other is like Hiller on steroids (I prefer to Slide this hill) 60 + with sweeping turn that at 50 or 60 MPH that you will probably be sliding threw, Never done it so I don’t know. The best part is there is a great run out at the bottom and no stop signs on all the runs. Rules: Same as downhill racing unlike the parking garage! (no rules) Bring both, a fast board and a slider board We will meet at the workhouse recording studio go to Click here for link for more info
Parking Garage race for Dec will be held on Sunday Dec 19 at 7pm

I was using my fully manual camera for the first time in a LONG time (other 2 in shop for repairs)and was finally figuring out the angles etc. Here is one of only 3-4 good photos that night. Then again I only shot 15 because we got busted........... We have to buy the security guard off w/ a hooker.

Mike... If you need some S.C. time for a surf, the same goes for my spare room at my place, bed and all. It would be cool to catch some waves or skate a bit.

I KNEW the raves would hit soon. Ditto on the stoke. SICK session! It was HARD to 18+ people organized for a mass start at the top, but such a blast. I had one turn where there were at least 5-6 other riders right agains each other, I was inside Cliff and he started to pull his line towards me. He doesn't think we actually hit, but I swear My outside edge was pushing against his board and he kept leaning into me trying to steal my speed... I was able to squirrel to the inside and roll past, but there was so much precision sliding and close riding going on. SICK!
Wish I could get down for JPL (Pump Station too), but I'm in retail with work one day and visitation with my son the other... so it's tough. I kick myself for missing out on all the big GS stuff cause that's the schniztt for me.
Have fun! Skate fast! Garage race #3 wednesday night!!!! IT's ON!

Some of you NorCalites should come down here tomorrow and race. Gorman always puts on a good one, plus he's having a BBQ after the racing is done. Sure to be beers and whatnot to soothe the sore race muscles.
I think I might want to come up to the Bay Area after the first of the year for a weekend of skating with all my NorCal homies...anyone got a couch I can surf?

man, that was the sickest session ever. I can't believe we got that many people in there. The cornering reminds me of short track speed skating with everyone inches away from each other.
see you guys next week...

Put four or five skaters in a slideing hairpin at the same time, everyone chargeing, you are bound to have some contact and maby someone on their roof. Seeing Cliff sloted in the corner with Ely and Miko, all slideing right in the mix is a memory I will not soon forget. Man, if we never get to do it again it will suck but BIG thanks to Mark Johnson and HC for getting this going. Just like nascar but with skatenecks rather than rednecks. Mike we miss you, you would be a force and reciepient of a few of our dollars. super stoked, sully

WOW what a turn out! 18 riders charging in the parking garage, suck a blast! I am glad we had such a great crew of riders show up, we had Cliff Colman, Ely Smouse,Flavian Vidal from France and a bunch of guys from Comet bomb squad show, just to name a few. Chris S lived up to his nick name the Bowling ball taking me out and others as i foolishly slid out right in front of him, he knocked me off my feet and back about 5 feet just like a bowling pin. There were so many crashes that i think only a few did not go down, no one hurt and everyone had a blast. We did get kicked out after 6 runs and are friendly security guard counted 22 people in the garage riding, the most he has ever seen. Buy the way Ely HC won again and regains the over all points title for now. Ely You got 2nd barley squeaking by me. For complete results and info go to:Click here for link
Mark Johnson I miss Vans more than ever, now, the pool was fun and the halph pipe was like riding one at your friends back yard. $10 for a hole day was not much, and after two hours i had enough, most of the time. Its amazing how you miss something after its gone. I hardly rode the place untill i heard it was shutting down and 4 day was not enough, Mike your write there are so many other places to ride for Free and thank God for Scotts Valley i can truley get my vert fix there.

Well that was FUN! Thanks!
To bad we were removed after 6 runs.
Next set up will include sharpend sidewalls. Hopefully that will stop people from running into me.
Can't wait to do it again!

Mike,
2 positive elements about Vans:
- rainy day skating
- pool coping, albeit worn down. Need to skate Marina now.
It was a 70s throwback day on Saturday at the pool, with a packed deck and skaters shoulder-shoulder. Too bad it wasn't like that more often.

I hate to say it but the VANS park is overrated. Not only does it cost too much but you can only skate for a 2 hour session. I had way way more fun skating Redwood City, Sunnyvale, Berkely, Novato, Peidmont and others than I ever had at VANS...and all those parks I mentioned are F-R-E-E.
BTW, Etnies down in Lake Forest is the sickest park!!! The keyhole kicks ass and so doesn the clover bowl...and it's F-R-E-E.

david, I sometimes do go through those corner 'standing up', it's just more tiring. No need for sliding in there, actually if you slide in there, you loose speed.
avalons are great in there, miko was doing good on the grippins.
I have an new idea, one kick per level.
