If it hasn't arrived by April 13, let me know and I will resend with the April issue. Again, it's really odd - there are some that have it no problem, and others are going mental. They were definitely sent.
Or you can email me right now to confirm if you are on the mailing list.
cheers Michael

Michael,
My friends in Santa Fe were telling me how cool the buyers guide is, and I see it got to France a couple of days ago. I haven't seen mine yet. Should I be worried or is this normal?
By the way, I am in Albuquerque.

Chris, you are correct. I get delusional...carried away...freaked out...whipped up into a frenzy...
every single year!
I can't help it.
You are CORRECT, however. Most of the skate mags are nowhere closer to really showing what's out there. The odd bone that Thrasher sends out there is duly noted and causes some excitement...and yet...
well, I see this a bit like a chicken emerging from an egg...
You can stare and stare at the damn egg and it looks like NOTHING is happening. It's a slow process...nothing...nothing...and then WHAM!
it's chick time!
call me crazy...but with every passing year, the resistance to other types of skateboarding becomes less and less and the interest becomes more and more.
Did the dogtown movie help? Sure...the book didn't though! Does the internet help? sure...but we still have ghettos of information
Like many of the people here, I've created my own skate reality.
It's not virtual. It's real and for some reason, it just makes me happy and proud.
Will the rest of the industry ever catch up? I am not sure.
The bigger question right now is who else can I bring on board?

Well, if you guys would use modern conveniences like cars and planes instead of dog sleds and snow shoes, that problem would be fixed.
>The truth is that skateboarding IS changing and as more people realize that you >can embrace and enjoy ALL aspects of skateboarding, we grow stronger as a >community.
>It's going to be a HELL of a year!
You say this exact thing every year! And yet, there really hasn't been any kind of "paradigm" shift in how skateboarding is presented/represented/portrayed in the media. We all still LOVE skateboarding, and I see that every time I go to the skatepark, or go ditch/pool riding. BUT, I still don't see too many of the younger kids skating the big terrain. They're too interested in what shoes/clothes they're wearing and how high they can ollie. Every once in a while Thrasher will throw a bone out there with a picture of someone in a pool, but overall, the big skate rags are no closer to showing the BIG picture of skateboarding than they were when CW was first published. Just some observations. chris olden

Kebbek's Ian Comishin lives about 5 hours away from me in Montreal and Claude Renier lives in Ottawa. I am sure the ONE thing we can all agree upon is that the mail is BRUTALLY slow sometimes here in Canada. In fact, it took 10 days for a letter to get from Ian's place to my home...
But, you know what? I package up the envelopes for Europe, Australia, Japan etc. on a Friday. Canada Post comes to my door to collect (usually in the afternoon around 3pm) and BAM! The damn mail is delivered to GERMANY and the NETHERLANDS by MONDAY. That's under 4 days!
Amazing.
Claude, glad to see you are fired up...Believe me, I am JUST getting warmed up...Everything until now has been a test...now the REAL fun begins.
The truth is that skateboarding IS changing and as more people realize that you can embrace and enjoy ALL aspects of skateboarding, we grow stronger as a community.
It's going to be a HELL of a year!

This the fight I refuse to give up on. Snoball wrote "IMHO, the youth have been ripped off in a big way by not being presented with OPTIONS and pigeon holed into believing they're not hardcore or true skaters unless they can ollie a stair set."
Skateboarding has been held back for way to looooooooooooooooong! The true roots & evolution of Skateboarding brought to you by Concrete Wave and it's ever growing comunity Worldwide.

Michael, a very good friend of mine called me the other day commenting on a recent issue of Thrasher he'd read. He owned a skateshop for ten years here in the swamp, and is not unfamiliar with 'the industry'.
He said,"Looking through it, I absolutely could not relate to anything in it. Everything it reflected about skateboarding was just...there's no SOUL there, no sense of skateboardings roots at all. It's just pages and pages of nut busting maneuvers and a kind of angry energy. I'm not against street style at all, but it's all they show as if it's the only legitimate style of expression." Then went on to say how much he appreciated Concrete Wave for showing a more liberal version of skateboarding, encompassing ALL styles that resonates with the "100% Skateboard 4 Life" philosophy.
IMHO, the youth have been ripped off in a big way by not being presented with OPTIONS and pigeon holed into believing they're not hardcore or true skaters unless they can ollie a stair set. I've seen you accused of being 'against street' before and your having to explain repeatedly that's not the case. Well, keep sticking to your guns Michael because skateboarding NEEDS a mag like Concrete Wave around.
