I used to get the 3M stuff at the hardware store near my house. Anyone remember how good that stuff smelled? I retaped a Fibreflex 27" bowlrider with 3M not so very long ago, and I had a scent-triggered flashback to Freestyle skatepark, c.1977...

I may be wrong put I remember getting 3m non skid tape from the marine hardawra store. Had it on my solid fiberglass Bolt board. But maybe Fibreflex`s Rubber grip predates that. I didn`t get a Fibreflex until `75. Had the Bolt around `71-72

the latest I heard was that things aren't going too well.
He might be faced with more jail time.
The DA is pressing to find names etc.
I hope that things can work out...but this situation is very difficult.
Blown out spots...anyone have any good stories?

HEY NOR CAL GUYS! If you want to bring guys to some of our valuable skate stashes, contact them directly and not on public forums. If we want to keep the spots open to skating and not become a bust, there can't be everyone and their mother skating them. Keep the honor and respect tradition of local spots.

Mike I really enjoyed the article on the EZ7 Outlaw Ditch Jam in Houston. It is unfortunate that Texas skaters are not all around skaters,like they were in the 70's. The Z-Boys taught us all to ride vert,banks,freestyle and slalom. Those boys did it all. It is hard to believe that is a state as big as Texas there are only two competitive slalom skaters. Marcos Soulsby Monroy from Galveston and myself from Harlingen. Is the art of pumping a skateboard non existant in the Lone Star state. And if you slalom dudes are out there contact Marcos or myself. Hey Dan, Uvas sounds great! I've been hoping to get to
Uvas all summer with Nick Krest but our schedules just
haven't hooked up. I'd really enjoy skating some "big
terrain"...heck might even have to set up a new board for
it! LOL (Maybe a BDS Longboard with some of those
new 180mm Seismics and some abec11 Flashbacks would
be the ticket??)
Knucklehead; sorry about not being able to hook up with
you on your NorCal visit. I've been working 6 days a week
for most of the summer and it's been killing my weekends,
needless to say. I'm going to be in LA LA Land during the
3rd week in September, so it looks like I'll miss you there
as well. If you manage to hit Upland, Fontana or Laguna
Niguel I expect a full report!!!
Thanks for posting guys, I'm looking forward to some serious
skating in September.

Howdy,
There's a few things I haven't done this Summer that are on
my list;
skate the Glory Hole
skate "The Ditch" in Reno
skate the Strawberry Bowl
skate at the Sunnyvale park
skate the Truckee park
skate Uvas Reservoir
However, September will find me visiting L.A.(Disneyland with
the family) and I'm hoping to skate Upland and Laguna Niguel
parks.
Having said all that, I have gotten to skate A LOT this summer
and it's been fantastic!

Thanks a bunch, since making mine letter of the month in CW my life has become unbearable I get mobbed in the street , had to change my 'phone Nos and get followed by paparazzi where ever I go . Now I just long for the old days when I was just a simple joe without the pressures of this damnable fame.
By the way I'm available for birthdays , weddings , all types of functions in fact.

Good advice Brad. I always keep a longboard in my car as a means of transportation in the event I have a break down or accident. Also, you never know when you might see something you want to hit.
On Sept.11th I was working at National Airport and on my lunch break when the first plane hit. Someone casually walked up and said a plane had hit the World Trade Center. I figured they must have had bad weather and an inexperienced pilot in a small plane wadded up. I then checked the weather on the computer and the skies were as clear as they were in Washington. Then our alarm started going off and people were running in all directions. After I found out what was happening, I decided to bolt home. I didn't want to drive and be stuck in traffic and I figured the metro was as unsafe as anywhere, so I grabbed my Leemo Downhill and started skating home. I skated thru the smoke from the Pentagon and got to the Memorial Bridge, where the cops were telling people to evacuate DC. The bridge was closed and the sidewalks were packed with people heading out but I was heading in. Everyone was packed on the sidewalk but no one was in the street. It was weird, because everyone was orderly though obviously panicked, and they were all crammed in and the whole road was open. On one hand I felt like maybe skating on the bridge wasn't the proper thing to do, then I said, f**k it, I want to go home. I skate on the painted line in the center for a nice glide and I looked back over my shoulder and watched the Pentagon burn. I could have walked as it's only 4-5 miles but my board got me to my people in a hurry.
Strangest skate I've ever had.

So,I think the one thing that the blackout has done is made everyone take stock in what they take for granted...
I figure air conditioning is a natural occurance...
yeah, right!
They ran out of gas at my local gas station....
the line up for food is huge...
the line up for beer is even huger...larger....
it's been a surreal experience.
we have power, thank the Lord!
I am asr, but Friday only...assuming the jets are flying by September!!!
but seriously, how much damage can one power grid inflict???
crazy...luckily, I print the mag in Quebec...no power failures there..
I am down to two cars and two 1/4 tanks of gas and sadly, half a bottle of wine...

I was in Toronto until about 3:00pm yesterday. I started driving towards home in Detroit only just thinking to stop for gas on my way out of town. I normally stop on the service center on the 401. Not knowing the power was going out. I did however not get lunch thinking I could grab a quick bite on the road.
I get about an hour out of town and stop at the first service center and no power. Damn I'm hungry. Oh well, get to London, still no power. Not thinking to turn my radio on still basting away the CD's. I can't get a signal on my cell phone to call home. Finally just outside of Sarnia my mother in law calls from Washington State. She tells me that the power is out from Michigan to New York and through Toronto. She said my wife has been trying to get a hold of me but no luck.
Now I hit the boarder crossing. An hour trying to get though the boarder. And still no food. I start seeing cars on the side of the road out of gas. I finally get close to home and I see a gas station open. I zip in and top off and grab some of their quick pizza.
I went out early this morning to get some drinking water and other supplies and the gas lines are like it 1979 all over again.
Yeh we're back in 1979.
I've got my 10" wide board and there are gas lines!!!
