Just got in from another Brands Hatch blast.
Paul Price won G/S. Simon Levene won T/S.
It was great to see Dobie, Mad Mike, Phil B and Frank Wheeler. The days skating was a blast. I'll leave the full results to Clingfilm, but I came joint 4th in the T/S with Micheal stride and as the best placed unsponsered skater I won a Comet deck which I'll pick up later. Edwin

Michael - our attempts at communicating are taking on an ever-more Laurel & Hardy-ish tone.
Only just got your email and message, and it's today already. But yes, 8.30 works for me.

Michael - haven't been able to reach you by phone; if possible I'd like to beg a lift to Brands from you? Not much chance of you reading this this late I suppose, but if you do, give me a call.
We pedestrians have to rely on the kindness of others you know.
Unless anyone can give me public transport directions from North London?

If anyone's going to Southsea this weekend look for the big blood stain in the snake run, that's where Glenn broke his ankle this morning. Hopefully it's not too bad, silly bugger even wanted me to take a photo of it. Took four fireman and two ambulance guys to get him out, impressive.
The 10-12 session is free and the guy on the desk said they are planning to keep it that way, so if anyone want's to emulate Glenn for free.....

It wouldnt be Brands without rain. The hot sunny weather really put me off earlier this year. It just wasn't right.
We can fit 3 cones across the course under the bridge as an alternative. Hitting a cone and getting a tenth added would double your time.

Forecast for Sunday looks a bit soggy , with varying degrees of rain (ie from 'heavy' to 'canoe') for the entire country - better bring your Alley Cats and Avon Boosters everyone, just in case.
Fast, tight cornering on small urethane wheels is much easier in an inch of standing water and driving rain though, right?
See you all Sunday

Missing Brands By a few Days

I can't believe I'm going to miss racing at the World's best venue by a few days. I am heading back to UK this Monday so will miss Brands. I'll be in UK for about 2 weeks and I am signed up for the the Antibes event where I will try to sneak away from work for the weekend.
Again, if there is anyone in the Chester/Liverpool/Manchester area who wants to slalom next weekend, Let me know. I'm even lugging cones over with me this trip.
Good luck to everyone at Brand's!

Ade, the slalom is open to all. If its your first race its free (I think). It will be GS (I think).
If you are coming just to ride the hills on the circuit a small donation is appretiated by Clingfilm, of the UKSSA (www.ukssa.net) . He hasnt been able to type due to injury.
And as far as I know just turn up to the gate, say your a skater and you will be let in. Head right, over two bridges and park. 9.30 ish start. I think.
Snagged some Gravity and Bahne schtuff as prizes. Also 3dm wheels.
Take all rubbish home, but apart from that its a blast.

Now have trucks and wheels as well as deck thanks to Brixton Cycles, so I may need the hospital run meself....wear wristguards those old bones take longer to heal.

Can I buy 1 Tracker Racetrack-X and 1 X baseplate from you (or complete trucks if that is not possible). Could you bring them with you plus a set of truck bolts for the Proto I will be riding in the GS on sunday from a well known Slalom Race Board manufacturer? Call me....
Martin TEAM TURNER.
ps.Never mind secret truck on your board....I have a secret board on my trucks!....Very nice.

Ian, I've got some 65mm NoSkools in 81a. So perhaps a bit soft for sliding. But lovely and smooth and fast. Harder (88a, 92a) would be better for sliding but not such a smooth ride. I'll bring to Brands, if you're there.

Thanks for the advice PoolHog, did try the double conicals today briefly at HP, not the best test ever but they did seem a little bit hard. Are there any other wheels anyone could recommend? Something sweet to slide but not too bone shaking.
