Chris, let your crew know that we will be running a sk8 comp that day. we haven't really decided much but we will let you know.

March will be busy with two sk8camps and 2 contests sk8 on the 11th and bike on the 19th. Then there's the prep work to get ready to move and that in itself is a lot.

Oh Yeah! There's the Canada Day event and summer camps &&&&&&&&&&&.

park sess
On 2/20/2006 Chris Barrett wrote in from Canada  (70.52.nnn.nnn)

Kinda blows the park won't be open, I had a serious blast having it all to my self last year. Oh well.

I was thinking a bunch of us would maybe go by during the day to say whats up and show them what a REAL indoor park looks like. Nothing too long, most of them can't skate tranny.

Hope things are going good.
-Chris.

We are not sure about th sk8park. We will know by the end of March. We are trying to get a comitment from the landlord thru to April 07. We have been running on a 30 day notice arrangement since we moved here.

Since summers are quite slow for an indoor venue other then our camps if we cannot come to an agreement then it is better to close for the summer and move into another location in the fall with a long term lease.

It will also give us some time to work on the business plan and draw some partners and backing to move ahead on the expansion plan for a 60,000 sq. ft. sports complex.

Will it be open for dovercourt? And if so, could we maybe have a no-pressure park slalom session the night before?

Canadian Nationals

Cool! I'll try to make it.

I would like to see a return of the Canadian Nationals like CASA did in the '80s. Kash actually put the one on in Calgary — featuring slalom, downhill, luge, freestyle, vert ramp, barrel jump, high jump... it'd be cool to see all facets of the sport represented (add street and pool/park/pipe as well).

With skateboarding approaching Olympic acceptance, I wonder if there isn't already federal, Provincial and Municipal government funds available to help make that a reality. Corporate sponsers shouldn't be too hard to lure in either.

Canadian Nationals
On 2/10/2006 mbl wrote in from Canada  (70.26.nnn.nnn)

We're working on our I.T. and all the components of our three day event. Because it was our first event with our new timer system last year, a lot of energy was spent dealing with that. With our patient friends coming for the second year, we learnt alot about where to put energy and what to leave out. Also with the experience of attending other international events over the past couple of years, we see what is done well and where we need to say'that's not us'. Canada Day is an excellent time to have our race as there is so much stoke already; as we saw with Stanziale's race in Athens, Georgia and Marion's race, if we start where there is already energy for an event, this can be very helpful. As we speak the powers in the Nations' capital that already spend millions of dollars on the week-end that we hold our race are trying to figure out new ways to spend money on things they haven't tried yet. Between this and the work of DRAS to provide purses for the racers, we really want to be able to make it worth your while to come here. Last year we tried to make it as easy as possible for folks to attend; free accomodation, food, swimming, refreshments. With our very limited budget, we tried to make sure everyone was comfortable, regardless of their race status. I think this is how we will grow our race. Trust me, we paid attention to what people wanted. We made some mistakes and that hurt and it's hard....but there's a few damn good reasons why not everyone puts on races. Come and visit and race and have fun...we'll do our best for you and to make it a great event.

Chicken did the mod — he's never seen a modded Bennett before. Could be the first.

Mr. Bennett has something cooking, we'll just have to wait to see the ads in Concrete Wave.

Baseplates
On 2/5/2006 Slob-air wrote in from Canada  (70.72.nnn.nnn)

The aluminum baseplates for the Vectors were as common as the Vectors themselves. But the ones for the Bennett Pros are very few and very far between. Took me 25 years to score a set.

I'm sure whatever Bennett has cooking will be sic!
