Nations Cup
On 5/29/2006 Claude Regnier wrote in from France  (82.123.nnn.nnn)

A big congrats to Canadian Team Mates, Chris Barrett & Mike Cividino. We pulled it all together knocking off three Teams. It started with the Latvians, the Swiss 2 (hart, martin & manuel) then we lost to Sweden who went on to win 1st place while we had an excellent fight against the French (who also caused upsets) and took 3rd place.

Chris in his first major competition faught off the early nerves and got better everyday. He blazed all day thru every race on Sunday. Civ did his normal great skating and learned a lot more this time out. His skills improved as the event went on and was able to rebound from his upset finish in the straight slalom. His skating and confidence in every round of the Nations Cup Civ got better and charged hard.

For a Team ranked 10th or 11th and took home a 3rd we were all quite happy to represent you all.

Joyce & MB were there skating or working throughout the event and were also great supporters. PSWC is a great event to attend!

EH!

C-you all soon when we get back to CANADA.

One more contest in Germany.

Hey Chris!
On 4/21/2006 mbl wrote in from Canada  (70.25.nnn.nnn)

So sorry! We're not stepping on your toes...we were invited to a convention marketplace held by Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance where already established events (Canada Day Race) rights holders go and delegates from different municipalities make the rounds, (like speed dating) and see if they're interested in holding your event. We did meet people from the City of Mississauga & Toronto. Later today or tomorow I'll e-mail you more details - I've just been pulling 18 hr days since April 2nd with the move and we went to this conference April 4 ...I've meant to tell you all about it..l8r sk8r

Groundwork
On 4/19/2006 Claude & MB wrote in from Canada  (70.25.nnn.nnn)

we've had meetings with people that represent groups interested in hosting events in the areas mentioned. I had Maria's World Championship 2004 video playing throughout the afternoon and people that wanted to meet with us were very interested.

We have since heard back from many of them and they would like to make sure we keep them informed of potential races they may host for the Canadian scene. They will take care of the local things to do and we show up and run an event.

Sound Good?

Toronto Race
On 4/18/2006 Chris Barrett wrote in from Canada  (70.49.nnn.nnn)

There is a race coming to Toronto around june. It will be outlaw as far as we can tell. Except for where and when(ish) its all up in the air.. try and get out for it.. it'll be a good way to kill some cones we figg'er. More to come as it becomes available.

Hey Claude, excuse the ignorance, but what do you mean by laying groundwork?

brilliant day in the nation's capital
On 4/17/2006 mbl wrote in from Canada  (70.25.nnn.nnn)

exhausted sk8park hosts finally get out to run cones - with a starting line-up of an eight yr old, ten yr old an eleven yr old ( and a forty-four year old girl) we started our spring training just steps from our new apt. we were shortly joined by some newbie locals and garnered some interest from neighbour skaters of all shapes and sizes
all in all a fun day for weary bodies done in from moving big ramps from the awesome 515 Industrial to the city facility McNabb that we are sharing our gear with for the summer
now we'll work on the Canada Day race - i'm gonna make it awesome, guys...c'mon over, Canada!

Com'n Down
On 4/16/2006 Cknuck wrote in from Canada  (70.25.nnn.nnn)

Brad, what Rob said! That's what I was thinking. Pirnak is planning to come and is also wanting to head to Hood. So am I at this point.

MB & I have had a good chat and contact with a possible future Canada Day race host in Alberta. It would be nice to talk about it.

We have also laid down some groundwork for future race venues accross the country. Toronto area, BC, Manitoba, East Coast. It's all in the works. We need to have some discusions about the Canadian scene some time.

We are out of the sk8park and we will be re-building before we leave for Paris in mid May.

The Canada Day event will only be a two Day race. We cannot secure a 3rd day venue for a suitable GS. For those staying in town we could run an Outlaw event. There are some places people are scouting..

We will race both days on the same roads as previous roads and both days wil feature dual racing. Day 1 TS and Day 2 Hybrid. This information will get posted and updated on the contest calendar soon.

I'm just pretty beat right now to do a double post.

Again this year there is very little response from any of the sk8 manufacturers for sponsorship for our race. We have not done direct e-mails yet due to the last months business schedule. Now that we have been forced to stay as a 2 day event we will send out requests for support.

Perhaps some of you racers could contact some of the manu's and ask them to suport out event. The above e-mail or sk8park@rogersDOTcom would be nice.

Happy Easter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi guys,,

thanks for the feedback,,,,,,,I've been told before my priorities are out of wack,,(I won't tell ya her/their names though),,,,,,

Ian ,, no worries,, I can relate to the anger and frustration,,,,,work here is crazy and I'm having to work alll easter weekend to try and stay on schedule,,, among other things in this crazy game of life.

as for my buddies wedding,,,I'd really hate to miss it,,,, He's a great friend,,, and is marrying a great lady ,,,,,,I truly believe this is one marriage that will last,,,,,,

As for Rob's suggestion,,,,,,ya got me thinking,,,,,,it would be too cool to hang out for a couple of weeks,,,,,if you alll didn't mind a western outlaw(BUM) hanging out and skating with ya........ 2 drawbacks to that though,,,,,I really have my heart set on the Hood River Comp (july 8/9) and you guys should be coming with to that comp,,,, it's a lot fun and a cool lil tourist town,,,,and the 2nd is my 2 week holiday planned is recovering from knee surgery in the beginning of May...

I'll just take things day by day,,, and work my assssss offfff,,,,,,and I'll see ya there,,, besides I looking forward to a good breakfast and some great skating,,,,,

take care and play safe
