Toronto parking garages...
On 9/30/2003 Jerry wrote in from (63.139.nnn.nnn)

Well, now that a wipeout at Oakville's Shell Park has me on the wounded list for a good part of the last few skateable weeks in Toronto, my mind is drifting to winter terrain. Like parking garages. Does anybody know of any good places in Toronto, where you're not run off in ten minutes? I'm aware that they may be as closely guarded as good ditches, but if you wanna share, my email's there.

Tks Civ!

Try and work out a couple of dates with Rob and the local crew. It likely won't cost you anything but time, Gas and food. There are 2 weekends in Oct. and 3 in Nov. that I have sk8 classes on Sunday. They are from 3 to 5 pm. So even they are no big deal.

You folks pick a date and we'll co-ordinate it with Montreal as well. Try to get Karen and Steph down here as well.

The sooner we co-ordinate possibilities the better. I may be able to get some interesting things going. Even on this short notice. Let's get going?

The Country need you folks I'm just to old and battered these days.

Anyone else is invited as well. That includes anyone from the Us if you any of you guys want to make a trip up north. Lisa, Katii and Elisa will try to make it from Conecticut.

Thanks Rob!

It was a lot of fun. Great racing and great people.

If we can start working on a weekend date. I may have just arranged for sleeping acoomodations for as many as we need.

We're talking bring a sleeping bag and a cott type of deal. Gymnasium and showers for the weekend possibly.

So let's get going. It seem to me it's a little colder here then it was where I left earlier today,LOL.

Montreal crew and anyone else is invited. Let's try to end the 2003 Canadian season with something strong to lead us into 2004! EH!

On 9/24/2003 Jay wrote in from (24.150.nnn.nnn)

Hey Civ, lets ride soon, email me when you know your schedual. I also need to know the specifics on what to buy for that roe, what size trakers, what duro avalons and what bushings, hardwarer size, and riser angles.
And if Rob is reading this I'm going to be ordering this stuff from Bozi so if your getting any of your new toys soon maybe we can ship it togeather if it's cheaper that way (not sure if it is or not).

Wheels for Steph
On 9/24/2003 Rob wrote in from (209.250.nnn.nnn)

Mia:

I have to agree with Civ, Paul and Keith - Flashbacks would be the best choice - excellent wheel, great performance and they are versatile for both longboarding and slalom.

My only point would be the 75 or 78 duro will not be the best wheel for sliding, so you better get her two sets (LOL)

Hope all is well

Wheels for Steph
On 9/24/2003 Keith wrote in from (216.209.nnn.nnn)

Hey Mia......thanks again for acting as the "spark" to get us all
out last Sunday.....awesome day! In regards to your query about wheels
for Steph, I agree with Civ and Paul..........you absolutely can`t go
wrong with Flashbacks. I don`t think there is a better all round wheel,
you can even use them for slalom. Civ is right about the Gumballs......
they generate alot of speed and I don`t think they would be good for Steph`s
confidence level right now. The Flashes in a 75 or 78a will be nice and
grippy and plenty fast for her, I have them on my Sector 9 and they`re a
great all around wheel!
Hopefully we`ll see you again before the snow flys.
Keith

Stephs wheels
On 9/24/2003 Civ wrote in from (24.141.nnn.nnn)

Mia, Pual is right about the abec 11 wheels. Keith had the gumballs on his board on the weekend. I was riding the flashbacks when we were riding hills. I think the flashbacks in 75a would be the best wheels for her. The gumballs at 76mm are a little too much wheel for her I think. The 70mm flashbacks are perfect. I think you two were riding 80mm wheels anyway, but the flahbacks are awesome, grab a set for yourself while your at it. Hope this helps.

New Wheels
On 9/23/2003 Paul Armstrong wrote in from (24.112.nnn.nnn)

ABEC 11 Gumballs are currently very hot wheels. They have swept most of the Slolom, GS, and Downhill events since their release. Even took Silver in StreetLuge at the SFGF last weekend. If not Gumballs then look at Flashbacks. If not ABEC 11 then Kryptonics Classics. The size and durometer are something that someone who knows her riding style, preferred terrain, weight, ability and the board the wheels will be going on should determine for you. These are the top quality wheels on the market though.

Just my $0.02 CAD :-)

Cheers,

Paul

new wheels
On 9/23/2003 mia wrote in from (66.131.nnn.nnn)

hey Rob and Civ,
I've got a question for you guys about new wheels for the DH Race, but not for me, for steph. It's her birthday in a few weeks and i want to get her what she wants. She keeps telling me about how she wants new wheels, so i'm gona take the hint and assume that is what she wants me to get her. And since you guys have seen her ride, and know her level of riding what would u get her if you were me? cause i know nothing about that kinda stuff, i just ride--i dont know much about equipment, and i know u guys know a ton. Also, money isnt an issue, cause stephie is worth top dollar! (actually some of the girls will probably put in).

Great Day of Longboard & Slalom
On 9/22/2003 Rob wrote in from (209.250.nnn.nnn)

I am glad that everyone that came out yesterday had a fun time. It was great session that combined both longboarding and slalom and from the looks on everyone's faces I think slalom is starting to take off in Toronto/Burlington/Hamilton and Montreal.

Mia keep on doing what you are doing and you will be ready to beat the American's next season. Steph you are well on your way and anytime you want to practice - contact me.

Should anyone who was out yesterday and any others who could not make it wants to get together to run cones I would be happy to arrange slalom sessions. I have a number of spare slalom boards and cones, so the only thing you need to bring is enthusiasm.

Feel free to contact me directly - I am based in Toronto - or Mike/Civ if you are in the Hamilton/Burlington area.

Thanks to everyone.

Rob

A BIG Congrats goes out to Jim and Ian from Montreal for some excellent racing at the Sandia Challenge.

Civ - that smile is what coaching is all about. The pay, it's not about the coin.

Can you guys put together a couple of dates for a trip to Ottawa before the snow flies. I have some sk8 classes on Sundays in Oct. and Nov. but they should'nt interfere.
