Hey Claude,
There is a glimmer of hope after all. I mentioned it to my ex-wife and she thought it sounded cool so she`s going to check their schedule at home to see if she can switch wknds with me.
See........it pays to be amicable with the mother of your children......ha ha. If they don`t have any "kidless" plans for that wknd she said no problem. I should find out by early next week and I`ll
let you know? Thanks again for your encouragement on this......much appreciated!
Rob, Civ & Jay; if I can go do you think we could all carpool together? Are you guys going to leave Friday afternoon and come back Sunday evening? Let me know.
Crossing my fingers,
Keith

Hey keith!

No Problem! If anything changes your welcome last minute. I know the hockey thing, I coached 14 teams in 11 seasons. From tyke to AA so I certainally understand.

It looks like this is going to be a blast and much bigger then I thought. The weather has been lousy so I'm anticipating it to be just great when the Gethering comes along.

I think we will have most of my home schooling kids and poarents around at this event as well. I have the first winter session with them on the 18th. so that works out great.

Pierre Thanks for the poster. It's printed and will be distributed around by the weekend. Right now I really have to get these other 6 Slalom boards together for the TV shoot tomorow. I get to meet Carolyn Waldo. She is the Host and is doing the interview. For those of who don't know her she Olympic gold as a Syncronized Swimmer.

Her voice message on the phone was great and she sounded excited. So I asked her if I should bring a Helmet and some pads and she said "YES".

So until we meet folks let me know if you are coming and want me arrange the accomodations and such. meals are being planned for Saturday and Sunday at the B & G's where I plan on staying with the crew if that's what you all want to do.

But, If you want to shell out cash for Hotels and such let me know, I may be able to get some deals.

The 24th weekend sounds good to me and I am looking forward to it.

Civ - we can get ourselves and anyone else organized.

Hope all is well,

Hey Claude,
My son is 11 and my daughter is 7 and they would probably love to make the trip.
I would really love for my son to see something like this and maybe even try out a slalom board
as he`s just getting into carving small hills on my long boards. However hockey season has started
and I`m his Assistant Coach and we should probably be there as he has 2 practices that wknd. I would
consider missing them but he`s also booked into an all day Red Cross Baby Sitting course on the 25th
that he`s quite looking forward to. Believe it or not they book up fast so we registered him about
3 mths ago and I wouldn`t want him to be disappointed.
I really appreciate the offer as I`ve heard alot about you from Rob, Mia and Civ and would love to
learn more about slalom as I`ve only done it once.......but I really enjoyed it! The only other possibility
is if there is a "Rain Date"........I hope not for your sake but you never know?
So again.......many thanks and hopefully you guys will do it again when I can make it.
Take care,
Keith

Hey keith!

How old are your kids? Do you think they could make the trip? Think about it. I will certainally see what I can do to make help them have a good time and you too!

Paul glad to hear your Okay. Tremblant would be pretty hairy at any rate. E-mail me so we can hook up. I'd like to talk about some of the spots you skate maybe use one of hills near the Hull parkway if it's closed for a GS or a Bid SGS.

Down but not "Down & Out"
On 10/2/2003 Keith wrote in from (216.209.nnn.nnn)

Hey Civ and Jay.........how are you guys? Mike I`m sorry to here about your "mishap".....
did it happen after I left you guys at The Valley? What`s the deal with the cops man, twice in
one day totally bites. Did they hand out tickets or just tell everyone to split?
Maybe we should think about lower #`s when we bomb hills.......I mean it`s a major rush
carving it up with 20 plus riders but it seems to draw too much attention. When there are only
6 - 10 of us we don`t seem to have any worries. Something to think about!
I`ve been watching this Ottawa slalom wknd pick up steam and I soooo wish I could go but that`s
my wknd with my kids and as much as I`ld like to go I can`t bail on them. You guys will have an awesome
time. Jay........when you come back maybe you`ll be faster than Civ.
Mike get better and let me know when you guys go out again.
Cheers,
Keith

Tremblant
On 10/2/2003 Paul wrote in from (64.230.nnn.nnn)

I was in Tremblant yesterday and I now have a lot of respect for the rider pictured on a video from the net titled Slow. It had Tremblant footage on it. I tried yesterday to come down from the top of the Plateau and under the Porte Du Soleil chair as he did and did not negociate one of the first toe side hairpin turns. What save me was a few guys doing landscaping who had a huge pile of earth on the shoulder of the road. After a skip and a hop over the curb I landed in their pile with only a little damage. Needless to say they thought I was crazy. I have been riding the Gatineau hills a lot doing well but this was very narrow. I have a lot to learn....

On 10/1/2003 Civ wrote in from (24.141.nnn.nnn)

Jay, The cops busted everyone at the top of the hill so i left with the luge guys and had a beer at my house and went back. I ate it at the bottom taking a turn down a side street at 40 or so. I hit some wet leaves and the board slid out from under me. I just tweaked my shoulder a little and my knee is sore but all is well. I had my gloves and full face on so I was ok. Do you think you can come up to Ottawa with me? I hope rob is in too, havent heard from him in a little while. Let me know what you think.

Looks like this event is picking up steam. I really cant wait to ride with all of you. Especially Pierre who I havent had the chance to meet yet. Next year we need to plan a big slalom race, get some americans to show up, maybe even the world champ, Mr Mollica. We have our very own Canadian champ setting things up for what looks to be a pretty sweet weekend of racing. I am down for sgs by the way, I have the need for speed. Hopefully im fully healed by then.....took a nasty header on sunday doing some downhill. Rob and Jay? you in? Keith maybe.....Adam?....lets show our support for our sport in our Country. Cant wait.

No problem Friday is just for peolpe traveling any great distance. I don't expect to really to any slalom on the Friday just make sure people are ser up.

I will be making arrangements to get everyone sleeping accomodations at one of the local Boys and girls clubs if they want and if we need it. Already discused with the head honcho flew back from LAX with him.

Once I know who is planing on attending I'll make the arrangements. If there are 10 or hell you can all crach in my Basement. We'll find some cots and stuff.

Actually, I may just build some frames and lay down some wood. Solid and goos for the back and really, really affordable. Or we can rent a couple of suites at an Inn or something.

By the time this hapens this event may turn into a fundraiser for the Skatepark I'm working on. It happened so quick and somebedy made it sound really great with that phenominal poster so it's kind of got my mind going.

Anyway I have to get back to work on the TV interview I'm doing on Friday. I'll be mentioning this event. So don't be surprised if we end up getting a lot of kids out. i won't even get into the # possibilities.

There are about 12 local outdoor skateparks and we really need an indoor one. Most of the kids around here know I've been to eveything I can to support their skating and I'm sure several of them will show up to support and event i'm putting together to help raise money to support them further. Besides everyone around here is riding a skatepark I've built, designed or had a hand in developing.

It doesn't matter to me if we're 2 or 200 it's all about the skating. This here skating is Slalom. Pierre if you date the poster I'll get some printed here and get them into the shops and cofirm the locations and print a schedule of events and locations. How about some SGS in the Gatineau Hills?
