Gravity vids
On 6/5/2004 Pre-School Rider wrote in from (24.53.nnn.nnn)

AdamH,that's almost a funny review,as most of the longboarders here that saw "Flow" were bitchin' that the park riding and kickflips go too much press, while the mad bombing, sliding, and full-on flowin' segments were Too Short! I myself would've loved more footage of both Mr. Coleman and Sergio Yuppie in the sliding realm, and more of Cabbage and Edwards as well. As for Gravity Boards,I've yet to ride one I didn't like.I'd love to see them get more tech in build,as the all-wood approach has it's limits in higher performance, but for Woodies,Gravity makes killer stuff.Their wheels aren't as fast as some, but do very nicely, and come in a nice range of sizes and durometers. Set it up right, make sure you know what the board/truck/wheel combo will do for ya,and you'll be pretty stoked on Gravity boards!

Gravity Boards and DVD's
On 6/5/2004 AdamH wrote in from (66.177.nnn.nnn)

I ordered a couple of DVD's from Gravity. One is called Flow and the other is a 3 in 1 special. I got them for $15 each off the Gravity website and they were at my door in 2 days with regular shipping. Still trying to figure that one out. Anyway, the videos are nothing but longboarding- Hills, slolam, skate parks(including KONA) Drainage ditches, pipes, pools etc. They pretty much covered it all. Well worth it.
Does anyone on here own a Gravity Board??? How do you like it?
Oh yea, they threw in about 10 stckers also.

Kona Trip
On 6/4/2004 AdamH wrote in from (66.177.nnn.nnn)

G-Flash- when you figure out a date for your trip, post it here and I'll try and round up a few old timers a see if we can make it over there. Kona is having some sort of an anniversary party in a few weeks. I think it's 30 years. I'm pretty sure Kona is the oldest Skateboard park in the country. Anyway the party looks like fun but Kona is fun no matter what.

Bozi Boards Unsolicited Testimonial
On 6/4/2004 North Carolina Longboarder wrote in from (63.167.nnn.nnn)

Just a point to the group about my interaction with Jeff Y. at Bozi Boards. If the board is a good as his customer friendly approach this board will be the absolute freakin BOMB! He took a special interest in my riding style, terrain I normally ride, what I was looking for in a board, my body type and size, etc. He has totally put together as custom a package as possible mixing and matching wheel durometers, truck geometry, and deck flex. Jeff went out of his way to accomodate all of my questions (which were too damn many). It was extremely refreshing to deal with someone who actually gave a crap about customer service. I will let you all know how the board turns out but my gut feeling is that it will be great especially based on the amount of time Jeff invested in advising me on my selection and set up. Thanks Jeff for your help and I look forward to getting my new ride.

MoMatt: What's up Drug Dog? Ordered my new Bozi Board last night! Madbomber II extra stiff with Seimics 180's metal (45 degree front and 30 degree rear) and big ass Avilas. I can't wait until it gets here. Yes, the wife is going to kill me but at least I will have a cool board for my last final coffin ride!

KONA J-bowl
On 6/4/2004 MissouriMatt wrote in from (128.206.nnn.nnn)

Only been to Kona once. I will return. Couldn't get enough of the J. The SNAKE!!! was fun, but the J-bowl was heaven. We drove 5 hrs, skated in 90+ degree heat for 3 hours (well beyound exhaustion) chowed some tacos and hit the road for 5 hours home. If I ever get rich, I'll be adding a J-bowl to our local park on my own dime. So sweeeet.

Snake run @ Kona
On 6/3/2004 AdamH wrote in from (66.177.nnn.nnn)

G-Flash, there is a decent snake run at Kona and a nice J run with a bowl at the end plus a good freestyle area and quite a few other amenities. Go to the site(www.konaskatepark.com) and checkout the photo gallery. It's basically a photo tour of the whole park. Not sure about Daytona though. There is also a place at Atlantic Beach which is east of jacksonville called SkateLab. It's an indoor skatepark. I've never been there though. they have a website as well.

We have a VANS park and a public park in downtown in O-Town with nice bowls for vert skating but no longboard downhill or snake run. Hey AdamH is the Jacksonville KONA park have a snake run? I am 37 yrs old and when I was living in Orlando growing up we had a skateboard park in Kissimmee on the corner of state road 1-92 and highway 441 - O.B.T. I was maybe 11 or 12 at the time and it only stayed open for maybe a year. It was called"SKATEBOARD WORLD" Go figure huh! Anyway they had a rad snake run that was half ditch and half pipe with a steep hill to start off on . The run was a good full city block because it ran the perimeter of the entire park which encompassed some bowls and a freestyle area. I miss that park!!! That was the only reason to go to Kissimmee outside of GATORLAND. Now I live here almost 25 yrs later and am forced to share spots with rollerbladers and young kids on popsicle sticks scuffing ther boards up by doing all kinds of tricks except crusin&carving!

G-Flash,
I am in Jacksonville and that's where KONA is. Geezer night is Wednesday night and folks over thirty get 50% off the regular admission. I think there is a KONA in Daytona also. No Skateparks in Orlando? Checkout www.konaskatepark.com
If I am ever heading to the kissimmee area, I'll bring my skate.
By the way, does anyone know of a Longboarding magazine??

Did someone say FLORIDA? Where can I find geezer nite at? I am looking for some LONGBORD SKATE MATES! My wife thinks I'm the only old and crazy skater left in the old Kissimmee ( KOW TOWN ) Orlando area. I'm looking for some mellow hills and some buds to hang with. I have some locations that are fun but it sucks skating alone .

Mate if you want to be see at night you need to get some of the flux LED riser pads. Three super bright LED's in the pad; you'll want to get 2 sets (white front red back maybe). They are quite pricey 20 of your American dollars each! But they are super bright and kind of cool, + if you want to pimp your board up get the funky colours and turn them inwards to light up the bottom of your board, outdo the local Garry boys in their done up cars. You can get them from the long skate shop:

http://shop.store.yahoo.com/longskate/riserpads.html

Good choice on the cosmic 2 I’ve got one myself (the phat barrel graphic) sweet board although not great for real speed, especially with the crappy trucks you have. Some randal II's 150mm would be best, nice a turny give you a real surf feel, but if you can afford it replace the bushings with some decent one's like the bones hardcore.

I’m sitting here having just had an exam and with one more exam to go, in my engineering finals, before I finish university, all my friends are talking about how drunk they are going to get and all I can think about is getting back on my longboards and hitting the hills, slashing some cutbacks and practising by berts at the park. Then lying back after a hard session and blaze it up accompanied by a nice cold beer. Itching to get back on the board as I’ve just had three months off with a bruised kidney! Looking forward to a summer of fun and frolics surfing and skating here in England.

Best get back to the books, but I’ll be thinking of carving the hills, just 24 hours to go.

Skating at night
On 6/2/2004 AdamH wrote in from (66.177.nnn.nnn)

Hey people, This is my first post on this forum. I see alot of people talking about cruising at night. Sounds good to me. I live in Florida so it's a little cooler at night. Does anyone wear anything reflective or say a light like a headlamp or........??
I am actually just getting back into skateboarding. I used to skate in the 70's and 80's so I guess I'm a geezer. I am still waiting on the arrival of my longboard but I'm really excited about it.(should be here on Friday 6/4) I didn't want to go too crazy with the money right off the bat so I got a 38" Sector9 Cosnic 2 with 70mm Kryptonics and some lameass trucks by an unknown Co. called Kore. I got it for $109.00 shipped off of ebay. I'll probably upgrade if I start to get into it. I plan on starting slow and I got all the pads and a helmet on the way too. I'm 38 years old and never broke a bone & don't plan to start. I really just want to cruise maybe hit KONA if I get comfortable enough. They have a Geezer night on Wednesday's. Anyway if you guys have any answers for my first night riding question or any advice for an old newbie....I'll take it.
