I am a little undecided on this issue. I have lived in towns, which had made prohibited skateboarding, bikes and roller blading. I think it is a little biased as far as age goes because where I used to live there was a fairly active senior citizen community and even senior citizens could be seen rollar blading down the side walk but the law never seemed to apply to them. That's just bad policemanship though. I don't think it's right for someone to destroy property and skateparks are a good place to skate but skateparks are just an option for skaters. Skateparks can become very boring especially if the terrain can't be changed. It's like eating the same food for a month. I have been skating for about 10 years now and I've actually thought about quiting just because there is only a park to skate, which I have to pay to use. It is even worse to skate there when there are 50 other people there trying to skate the same thing you are. I don't think towns take into account how diverse skateboarding is. I think some towns build a park as an excuse almost. They build one and say there we built one and then they don't look like bad guys. Towns don't just set up one baseball field. They don't just build one basketball court. I don't make that much money at my job and if I skated every day for a month it would cost me about $40. That doesn't sound like much but it adds up. I think people have the right to protect their property but building one park to accomadate only a certain amount of skateboarders if there is a large number in the area should not close the matter of skating facilities in a certain area.

well there is a little town in maryland called oakland, and i was skating it up at a carnival thing and i never got caught, but cops was everywhere...the law is actually in that city, says so at the gate specifically "no skateboarding in city limits" that is BS and i need help changing it, any suggestions? oh yeah, i asked a cop where a good place to skate and he laughed and said in jail and tried to take my board

chicago is a flat city so to get speed i was skitching on this jeep. the dumbass in the jeep cut off a cop with me tagging along. the cop gave the guy a ticket and gave me a court date. i made a deal with the city and got 50 hours of community service.

me and my friend dan are planning to start a longboarding club at our highskool in monument colorado. i have to write a good report on y this club would be a good thing 4 the skool. i dont think it will be too hard because theres alreaddy ski and snoboarding clubs but ne ideas that would possobly purswade the administratives will be great.

we wer rippin it up in monument colorado. and we decided to take hwy 105 down to my house. we had taken it plenty of times b4 w/ out ne problems but this time a cop decided to pull us over he sed he caught us doin 44mph. wich i thot wasnt bad considdering the speed limit was only 45mph, so he atempted to explain to us the potential dangers of what we wer doing... and clearly he noticed nothing coming out of his mouth was sinking in so he gave us each 30$ tickets and threatend about what would happen the next time he caught us, i still ride it home every day, but only because its the nicest paved road in the whole state. its only scary when u have to ride right in the middle on the double yellow lines while cars pass on both sides.
so if yur guanna break sk8 laws make sure u dont get caught,

In Germany a skateboard is a toy. And acording to german law a skateboard belongs on the sidewalks and not in the streets. But a fast ride through a pedestrian area will be of course condemned as careless. Nobody will charge You if you skate carefully through the crowds. The Police here in Hamburg is real cool, if You use Your common sense, and You don't endanger others, they let You go nearly anywhere. Two weeks ago I took a 4 hours long ride (nearly 20 miles) across town on streets and sidewalks - no problems.
I don't understand the american law, that says skateboarding is attempted suicide. But for me the american law is strange anyway. To get millions from a restaurant, cause You poured yourself hot coffe on Your legs - or to put a little child in jail, cause he saw her sister naked - or to catch a little cuban boy with a highly amoured swat team - hey guys, whats wrong with these lawmakers?

i was pulled over the other night on a dual carriageway that runs from the top a hill down into my neighborhood the cops pulled me over and i got lucky as all they wanted to know was what i was going so fast on it was about 2am and the roads were empty so they had no problem previously i have been chased by the police but luckily have never been caught it just shows that if you get the right cops they are ok, but some just take it really badly. i had 2 cars and once i managed to get away and back into my ownhouse i saw a chopper near where i was skatin from my back window. it's not all bad but you do have to bbe careful, theres alot of hassle given to skaters round my way, by people in general the police etc, the police should be out catching real criminalsinstead of harrassing us, like i said tho they're not all bad and sometimes a fair few will let you off tho laws need to be seriously looked at and reviewed as to what real criminals truly are.............

Hey, that's pretty much my mode at the "Big G/S Hill" but for different reasons, they only let me ride with permission because I wear all my gear and I was there before there house was built so I got "grandfather-clause'd" into acceptance. I saw a post recently about a bunch of guys who got the cops called on them, as some old lady was concerned about public safety. The cops told them to carry on, as they were all wearing pads etc. had someone spotting oncoming traffic and they weren't causing a nuisance.

Come play here!! Since I moved here 3 years back from London UK I ride my longboard everywhere, or take my blades! Cops here got too much real s*** to be deealing with and as long as you aint behaving like a retard they aint got no business with you! In the three years I skated Manhattan I never had one issue with the law, hell I even stop and ask directions from them when i'm lost!

In sweden, if you skate above the speedlimit and get caught by the cops, they can take your driverslicense away. They´ve stopped me twice, but both times I´ve denied that I had a licence and lied about my age to get out of trouble. So if you ever come to sweden and the cops are coming, just skate like you´ve never skated before!!! ... or just lie...

Bad news. Honolulu has a very restrictive skateboarding law.
Honolulu Municipal Code:
Sec. 15-4.6 Use of bicycles, skateboards, roller skates and similar devices restricted.
(a) For purposes of this section, "Waikiki" means the Waikiki special district as described in Section 21-9.80-2.
(b) No person upon a skateboard or roller skates, or riding in or by means of any toy vehicle or similar device, shall go upon any roadway, except while crossing a street. When so crossing, such person shall be granted all of the rights and shall be subject to all of the duties applicable to pedestrians.
(c) No person shall ride a bicycle, skateboard or roller skates upon any sidewalk in Waikiki. Subsection (b) notwithstanding, no person may ride a skateboard or roller skates on any roadway in Waikiki.
(d) The director of transportation services shall erect official signs on or adjacent to sidewalks or roadways within Waikiki giving notice of the prohibitions of this section. The absence of such signs shall not be a defense to any prosecution for any violation of this section.
(e) Any person committing a violation of this section shall be punished by a fine of $25.00.
(f) Police officers and any other authorized officers shall issue a citation for any violation of this section, except they may arrest when the alleged violator refuses to cease the illegal activity after being issued a citation. Except as provided herein, the issuance and form of the citation shall be as provided in HRS Section 803-6.
