specific sliding deck?

sliding is about a quick turn and drift, nothing else. its imposible that a deck will make you slide more, so i would say that if youre lookin for a deck that slides better then all others you would have to find a deck that fits YOUR style and your body features: weight, stature, etc. People need diferent sizes of theck acording to their difernet styles but here are some guidelines that are always needed for a good sliding deck: medium size and high durometer wheels ...

Sliding Deck

OK, I know Im beating a dead horse, but I'd really like some factual input.
In regards to sliding, I know that virtually all decks can be used to slide, but c'mon, a certain length, shape, or design must make one deck better than another.
I see that Falltown has developed a "slide specific" deck.(http://www.faltownskateboards.com/faltownskateboards_decks_details.asp?ProductID=21) Is a double kicktail, 36" deck the way to go?
Ive seen some of the "Landy" riders slide the hell out of their Evos and DHs. On the other end of the spectrum Ive seen dudes ripping pool decks standing up.
Bottom line; if you were to have a "slide specific" deck in your quiver, what would it be?
Hopefully this may end the cruel and unusual beating to that poor horse corpse.
Thanks

Well, i think sliding is all about how you balance your board, you need your tracks medium tighten and wheels with a hard durometer, and also, most importante, high speed!!!

The Stopping forum has been consolidated into the Sliding forum since the techniques share so many elements.

Sounds like your wheels are too soft so they slide for a bit then whip you round. If you want to slide them then yeah, more speed is the solution, 20mph+. if you want to start nailing 360's
Try a smaller deck, 40" +/-, with a nice curved nose and tail and deep concave, hard wheels 60mm 97A +/_, and see how you get on.

If anyone is looking for a slide deck then look no further than Faltown. I've ridden Lush, Gravity and Faltown decks and find the best by far is Faltown. Its shape is the key, it gives that stability you need whilst flying round, forget 360's, its 1080 and beyond people. I'm riding their 40" and man can it fly, its my new magic carpet.

Ever since i saw the Gravity team's "flow video" my whole concept of skating changed. I have long enjoyed freestyle skating, pool riding and vert skating in all dimensions for the most part but ever since I saw some of the knarley downhill slides of the gravity team I have since been trying to perfect the same techniques as these guys. Personally I think that this may the next revolution of the sport of downhill skating.........

Good board for sliding

Right now I have a Loaded Vanguard. Its an amazing board for bombing carving and just ripping up the streets, but its not fitting my sliding needs. So I was wondering if anyone could recomend a good board, wheels, and trucks, an all around good setup thats not going to put a large dent in my pocket. Also I was looking at the Faltown slide 3.2 and noticed that under the country selection the US wasn't there. I don't know if I missed it or something, but if anyone knows if they deliver to the US please let me know. Thanks

Yo, just a post to reply to one a while back, I'd heartily recommend the faltown 3.2 as a slide set up, the concave is deep, the sise is right on at 36", its wide enough to keep your feet in and the shape is both unique and sexy. Its the only board out there at the moment thats been designed by sliders for sliders. An those cannonballs are also near the perfect wheel.
Nice to know the U.K. is representing eh! whoop whoop
I rekon the gravity boards 33 an 36 would be right there too, I must admit they were the way I was gonna go but ended up getting a uk board to avoid shipping.
Whoop!

Carving to slow down is hardly the same as stopping and can take far too long from 20-30mph in too many cases. Wear a slider glove and learn the Coleman Slide.
