I gave it a second thought, and I guess maybe I was wrong.

I faked many photos, added some speed to standing cars for a german car manufacturer. We always took care, that the direction of the motion blur goes with the motion of the vehicle. But if you look at some of the newer pictures, you will see, that this is not always the case. (Don't know, maybe it's the processing chip of the camera.) I thought it's a photoshop, because the movement of the lines on the gerage is horizontal and the movement of the tarmac is a few degrees down and there is a ghost image of the board that feels wrong. And Cliff, when you look at your pictures, fakie and fakie1, you will see that all the motion blur goes in one direction.
Maybe it's the same as with kids and artificial banana milk. If they drink it a lot, they belive real banana taste is a fake ...

The photo you are questioning looks real to me. To get the effect of the rider in focus and the background blurred, the photographer needs to pr-focus on the subject and then pan with the rider. The shot must be taken at just the right moment to get the effect. This is because the subject/rider will blur into focus and then after passing directly in front of you, will blur out of focus. To get this effect you should also narrow the depth of field.

It's a feeling. The pictute doesn't feel right. Thre are strange shadows under the axles and the knee of the skater. The blur is not in the same direction as the skater moves. The blur is to equal. Usually you will have different amounts of blur in nearness and distance.
If it's not photoshopped, it must be some kind of camera pull (for the background) with flash (to freeze the rider) - but it does not look like he used a flash.
I could be wrong, who knows ...

Is there a specific name if you do a frontside 180 and you use both hands. I usually use both hands to help unweight the board, either with rear hand coming over the front or reaching behind. It's just like a standard coleman/pendulum but I find it a little easier to break loose.
Also I have a problem with my board flipping over or shooting out as soon as I get around to 180. Any advice?.

First off, Ride your trucks loose. If you have 97a wheels, you shouldnt have a problem breaking them loose regardless of truck tightness. I guess it is personal preference, but I would rather watch someone doing some carving and sliding down a hill then sliding and kickturning down a hill. It just adds to the style factor.
Have you tried the 99a Sergio Sliders? They totally murder the Super Sliders in terms of "slidiness". To work on your 540, definitely watch the Faltown slide school. Those videos are what helped me learn new stuff sliding and whatnot. Great tutorials on different slides. Try to get a video of you doing one and we can critique it and tell you what to improve on.
As for the pintail...You claim to ride Gumballs and you can do Sergio slides (Layback) on them? I have got to see this to believe it.

There is a 540 slide skool on the faltown website if memory serves. Try doin everythin in wheely's and theres foot swapin an board flippin stuff.

i have been sliding for a little while now. i have most of the slides that i can find down, but i was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to get my 540 more fluid. i start from fakie and then heelside 180, toeside 180, heelside 180, but it seems choppy.
also i saw that some of you were wondering what a good set-up is. i am slidinga dogtown with fat kick-tail and lip on the nose. i re drilled it so that the wheelbase is shorter (shorter wheelbase= more technical slides). tight trucks. if your trucks turn, you do. when you tighten them they break easier and more predictably. i have also found that randal trucks are not the best slide trucks. tracker, indy's are kind of the way to go. also gravity makes a sick slide wheel. 72 mil. 97 duro. "Super Sliders".
now i am not saying that you have to have this, but these will help. i have also been having fun with a 47" pintail on randal's and gumballs. it is way harder to break into slides, but those big sweeping sergio's look sick!!!

i can bertslide pretty well flatland both front and backside so is the downhill slide like doing a bertslide like since i can bertslide will the downhill slide be easier for me then other guys who cant bertslide that are also trying to learn the downhill slide ive never tried downhill slide but damn they make it look fun in the bones brigade video show tips on equipment would be great as well things like board size i figure loose trucks hard wheels soft wheels wheel size and can i make those gloves at home cus the only pair i found online is like 70 bucks and i dont have that kinda money to shell out, all advice is greatly apreciated

Hey, are there any good sliding specific streches that anybody knows of. I just cannot get my knees to bend enough to do a coleman slide. If I try I can reach the ground fine, but even then I'm mostly on my toes and can't make a heelside carve. Right now all I can do is frontside slides because I basically just lean toeside and fall onto my hands.

daaaang, sliding is harsh on wheels any softer than hard trick wheels! ive got a set of skate wheels about 25 years old which managed to survive everything o.k., but after 2 days of practicing sliding on flat ground/ low speed, those suckers are coned! so i bought some blank hard wheels than are bright pink, look wicked on my santa cruz deck, and slide real nicely! i love sliding!

You can slide any board/wheel/monkey its just physics ya dig? That is really the biggest no brainer I can think outside of Iraq being a bad idea.
There is S.H.I.T. loads of stuff on the net about how to slide, take some time and look, its like walking on a road an asking people where it is. watch some vids, get the gear, be proactive and dont get to het up with there being a right way an a wrong way... except, seeing as this is the general public I'm posting at, with regards to safety. If you can watch a clip of Cliff schooling his slide you got no probs. Wear pads if you need them.

I'm looking to get into this whole slide thing and have a question about equipment. My regular skateboard is an 8.5" square tail pool board with indys and 64mm 101a powell bowl bombers. I'm thinking about setting up a specific slide board with wide 64mm 97a bones mini cubics. Good idea? Unnecessary?

hey wazzup so heres my predicament is stopping.I have a good knowledge of turning and what not pushing off, but stopping seems to be a problem when its a narrow walkway and its a long steep hill. i can stop on level or small hills but bigger hills give me problems. Although i found that slamming into a car as it pulls out from the street is pretty much the fastest way to stop. i really haven't mastered the whole tail stop or foot drag, because most of the hills around my area are either huge and busy or small and unnoticeable. is there any perfect way to stop going down a pretty fast hill? slamming into cars just isn't my style.
