well not to be egotistacal, but after reading all your high jump records you forgot to mention the fact that i won the high jump contest at the cow palace when i was rideing for logan earth ski, this took place about 30 someyears ago and was documented by wide world of sports and for years they showed it with different clips of the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat, also some want a be skateboarder wrote in your littel colom about picking me up in his cab and sayimg that i was drunk and disordely.20 years ago he might have been right, yes i could have been drunk partying in santa barbra, but come on 20 years ago,who ever you might be i hope you have a life by now and yes i still reside in sb today with my lovely wife, hope to hell that if i ever have to take a cab here in sb again, just for your sake i hope it is not you.i am that person that forgives but never forgets.rember the ground always wins.

curious?
On 5/4/2006 Kludy Jr. wrote in from United States  (160.227.nnn.nnn)

hey everyone, im curious to see what people are jumping at a competetive level? i got a little "ollie stick" thing its called from walmart iv been practicing my high jumps with. it only goes up to thirty six inches and im clearing it no problem and have been stacking things underneath it to try to get it higher. i saw the last few posts with people jumping in the higher 40's is that a normal jump or a HIGH jump? im planning on going to new mexico for the sandia all around and was wondering what the highest people were jumping, or what is an average jump? also what would be the best way to practice getting higher, like as far as different styles? iv seen pics of people kicking there legs out in different ways to get over the stick is it just what feels comfortable? well iv been having alot of fun practicing and will continue too with hopefully some new tips i get from everyone here. thanks alot!

New High Jump Record Challenge
On 3/29/2006 steelwheel Bob wrote in from United States  (66.174.nnn.nnn)

Inglewood Games April 8th 2006
There will be both a mens and womens high jump record attempt.
The mighty Quinn will be there to defend her record but the local girls want it and plan to raise the bar in womens high jump.
Jimmy who runs a Katate school believes a few of his former students could clear 6'6" with a completely different technique then ones being used today.

I must jump again!
On 7/6/2005 NeilA wrote in from European Union  (86.135.nnn.nnn)

I used to love high jump in the 70's and used to jump approx 46 inch. I got into skating again in the eighties and used to jump over my Suzuki GS 750 motorbike. I started skating again about a year ago and having tried jumping again but I have just bought my first longboard.

Let's see if the old bones can handle it once again?!

Yep, former world-record holder Steve Smith (he is a friend of Jim O'Mahoney) was towed up to speed on a skateboard and vaulted somewhere around 16'. This was done in the late 70's.

We've just started practicing high jump here in Lausanne.
We only jumped 1 m (sorry for the normal unit...) during this first session : no more legs and no more things to pile down (?) the bar :)

Here's a short movie of this session : http://www.longboard.ch/videos/ALF_HighJump1.mpg

That was too funny, we'll try it again this week end !
