Showing respect for other people has become in a lot of ways a thing of the past. For me, I will never ride at the level of a Mitchell, Cbark, Hackett, Mollica, Olson, etc., etc. I am newbie basically returning to the sport that was my first love in the 70's and it has been awesome to get to know all of the people that I have met so far. For me, treating people with respect has helped my re-entry back into it and gain respect from many of this same group. Along the way I have made some mistakes but have always tried to live up to them and call myself out on them. I know it sounds corny but we all can be full tilt go for it all the time competitive as possible but still show that we are people that actually care about the RESPECT deal. I played rugby for several years. In every game I did my best to be the meanest, badest, toughest, person on the field and beat the tar out of my opponent but after the final whistle we all shook hands and partied together. Skateboard racing reminds me of that. We all are trying our best to be faster than the guy in the other lane, the person in our Class, or everyone on the hill, but after it all is said and done its time to chill, hang out, and have fun...because to quote Racer X "Fun is the name of the name of Game."
