Z-Flex?

Being a geek about the authenticity of props in any period movie, I wonder: Why no mention of Z-Flex in the movie? Seems like an odd omission to me, Z-Flex being what Zephyr became, and having the Jay Adams Model. I searched this forum for this topic, and no one's brought it up.
I'd certainly think the current holders of the trademark would welcome the publicity (eBay sellers certainly have, whether they're selling Zephyrs or Grentecs). Or is it bad blood between the current Z-Flex co. and the filmmakers and friends? Whatzit?

The Special Features section of the DVD rocks. They include The Making Of LODT, Cameos, Deleted and Extended Scenes, Featurettes, Gag Reel, Storyboard Comparisons and Music Videos. You can get both the Lords of Dogtown and Dogtown & Z-Boys DVDs together for under $21.00. Highly recommended.

i guess jeff ho wasent in the movie because he started getting greedy about how he wanted to make money off the film so the producers just acted like he never existed.

I think the kid who owned the Dog bowl was called Dino. I don't think anyone could really lay claim to actually "inventing" the ollie, but it was definately Gelfand who was spotted doing it. It was probably done loads by accident etc. I thought the film was ok, maybe a bit too heavy on the cheese in places, but the skating was good. Oh, and since when was Jay Adams a goofy foot?

I'm stoked the official version of the DVD is coming out next month. I bought a bootleg DVD-R of it at the flea market last month. Not the greatest quality (it was ripped from a "screener" DVD) but fully watchable. I really enjoyed the movie during it's brief run in the theater. I think they did a good job. I'll be buying the official release too, looking forward to the extras and directors cut.

Thought it rocked, he shifted the dates about a bit, but for the people who dont know of the Z-boys, it got the story across great, hopfully people will seek out the 'Dogtown and Z-boys' dvd now?
I didn't think it was 'Sid' who was the kid with the 'dogbowl'??????

1st off Jay Adams & Tony Alva were my hero's back in the 70's. During the late 70's & early 80's I started riding all the SoCal skateparks with all the pros. I kinda retired in the 90's but took it up again when my son wanted to start in 2002. But I only rode street & around town. Well I got an invite to the Private screening of the Lords of Dogtown & it totally inspired me to get back in the bowls, ditches, pipes & pools. So thanks to the movie I am alive again!!!
