My Testimony
On 10/3/2006 Miko wrote in from (67.150.nnn.nnn)

All right now . . . I lost 35 lbs when I was layed off and started skateboarding everyday. Slalom turned out to be the amazing core workout I needed; it strengthened my back, stomach, glutes, quads . . . everything. I'm fitter than I've been in 20 years and it's skateboarding that's responsible.

I've had a hard time getting to the races to play with you all, and I really miss it. Keep up the good work guys! -Miko

OPEN division
On 9/21/2006 Chris Yandall wrote in from United States  (70.167.nnn.nnn)

I tried to post for a few days but apparently I was victim of an IP address ban that Adam fixed with a quick problem report.

Had a great time in Encinitas. I did eat some asphalt early Saturday and along with racing the day before and being involved with setup 7am, it made for a long day. Ouch!

Overall, hanging with Cliff Coleman, Hester, Lane Oaks, Tony Hawk, Buddy Carr, The Bennets, Jamie Hart, Bruce, and the list goes on ... turned out to be a real skate stoker for me.

We'll see what's in the stars for me for the Open divisons in the future. I guess when you youngsters see us old guys cranking the course, you have every reason to pursue skate longevity because we just work hard.

Speaking of working hard, Riche, the brown bomber, is the KING. the Sk8 King! hat's off to the man who has the precise technique on the hill! He's MY HERO! Hey Richie, got a Chris Yandall board coming your way for your collection. It's my last one :D until my new line rolls out from PoolKingskateboards.com .

I'm tired of being a web weenie and am looking for someone to sponsor my skogging research. Some college freak looking for a thesis susbject might want to get a government grant to investigate thoroughly the impact of the skateboard when used as a viable self-generated transporation vehicle. VSTV. I know one thing, that without my skogging endeavors, I'd be a fat slob computer geek today!

Watch for my article in the CW coming soon.

And I'll be posting fragments here too.

Cheers to all...
Chris Yandall

Chris, great to see you at the top of the 'legends' list from pump station!! Really wanted to make it down to meet you, AXE Army and all the others again, but some Gimongous commitments up here -- anyway I'll still be looking for a reason to fly south in the winter. I heard that Munson is coming down to skog and skump the boardwalk with you eh?! Cheers, hope to race ya in an 'open' division some day. -jp

Cliff and the 2 days of 50 miles
On 8/24/2006 chris yandall wrote in from United States  (70.167.nnn.nnn)

Hey Cliff,

For me to fit any skating in my life is a tough deal. The kids, the house, the folks, the businesses and friends make conflicts in every schedule pattern.

If I aint making a healthy income per month, I'm dying ! This madness has got to stop!

It would be nice to reduce to my terenage years of surfing and skating fulltime~!

Now THAT sounds like an attractive retirement. Making your life dictate your income is the secret. Making money to dictate your life is curse.

When I skog, it's more than alternating legs. It can be as extreme as almost bump skiiing out of control on the flats with one ski or subtly transitioning from one leg to the other seamlesly like a seismic ballerina! Roll your own exercise with skogging! Try skogging backwards like a rollerskater. This is a trip! Switch lead foots! Mongo for a moment on either leg :P .This stuff is soo trippy! another thing to try are 360 spins and figure 8 cruising.

So kick Jamie for me and all the best of best to YA!

Chris,

I skated 50 miles in two days and also walked another 11 those same days. I'm ready, but Jamie Hart says he better get back on the deck. He rides a bike everyday, but hasn't been out skating much. He and I will arrive sometime Thursday.

See you soon,
Cliff

ye old crew y0~!

dude, i skogged 12 miles this evening on my sk8kings deck with rad padded trackers.

great exercise~!

yea mr. coleman. looking forward to seeing the old crew. ryan and skolberg rumored to show up~! It would be good to beat some of the crew that kicked my ass while I bathed in the mid70's limelight. But we know at this age, it's all about getting out there and shining some light on all of the past .. YES?

I should be in pretty damn good shape at 50++ for this and CLIFF! y0! YEA!

RENEW Something!

some dude turned 115 today. that means we got another 60 years or so of skateboarding.

where's warren bolster. i'd love to show him some great long range cruising moves on the flat! even the contemporary skaters see "skogging" and get blown away! alternating legs and 1 f00t skating is the future for us old f#@!s looking for a cheap thrill!

CLIFF, RENE, RICHIE! YOU GUYS GOT YOU FINGER ON THE PULSE!

looking forward to seeing you demigods!!!

I can't wait to race with my old friends, especially Chris Yandall. Chris, I think the last time was around 1976 that we raced. Good luck to you! Rene will be racing. So will Jamie Hart, possibly Don Bostic too? Who else is coming that's over 50? This post should probably be on the Slalom page or the Masters page, but I wanted you to get my message Chris. I'm really looking forward to hanging out with this old crew.

skogging training
On 8/19/2006 herbn wrote in from United States  (64.12.nnn.nnn)

my guess is that EVERYBODY has done this while walking up a hill, your board is on the ground and you're walking, you push it up the hill infront of you with your foot and catch it when it rolls back down, and push it back up ahead. Which foot do you use to push the board? Try switching that up.

y0 reneeeeeee!

:D

there i was going down that damn hill faster than i have gone in the last 30 years. SCARY!

but coming up the hill, I was able to skog back up easily.

the technology you guys have for slicing up the cement is awesome. sticky wheels, and short wheel base makes for sweet cranking quick turns with insane stability.

you guys are my heros!

cheers

that he can literally 'bend the elements' around him - - -
buildings, basketball court posts, baseball backstops -
