It's been several years of terrorizing the Mission Beach / Pacific Beach boardwalks. Today I put in another 20 miler as I did yesterday, last friday and wednesday. I'm so thrilled other are catching on. The more and more people see this form of sidewalk surfing, the more and more it becomes that nice stroll in the park while riding a cement wave.
Thursdays and Satudays will be posted as skogging meets this upcoming spring. Watch both boards for more info. The meeting areas will either be at Kanes or www.airbrushbill.com .
Looking for some real hotskoggers to come out and party the skog on the boardwalks. www.skogging.com will be getting a face lift soon.
cheers mates, RIDE YOUR BOARD! cYa

Hi Cat
Riding motorcycles requires balls when you attack traffic before it attacks you. And with that kind of nuts, you can't help but be riding with lady luck.
I truly love high speeds and twisty turns.. and yes, my bike aint as safe as my van, but I believe I can usually arrive 30 minutes earlier when 1 hour delays occur. Like I said, last year total mileage was 24k and 5 sets of tires.
Just need people to share the road more.
It's not a death wish but of all the cool ways to meet the creator, a crotch rocket to the next plane will do!
I bet you're still asleep :)
cheers Cat cYa

Chris, It was great meeting you this weekend. You are one cool dude! Be careful on that motorcycle--- don't get rammed on the freeway like I did-- it doesn't feel very good! I guess I still have about 6 lives left--- I've used 3 already! See you soon!

This is certainly not my best effort but R&D on this step is very much worth pursuing.

The best way to describe this is to get a darn video clip on it. I will attempt to get one today.
I use a couple of different methods to run with it.
1) The normal skog step but very fast 2) The extremely difficult and treacherous "hop" step at high speeds. It is a transition step hop from side to side.
My kid picked up quickly and there's the guy from www.doogood.org that doesnt have it down but has sacrificed major skin attempting to pull it off. Ari G. :D If you ever pogo-sticked up and down steps, it requires similar balance.
Off to my Saturday skog in PB.

Do you mean when you push regular and jump over to the other side and push switch? I usually feel like I'm going to lose my board when I do that, or at least land on the wrong spot and lose control. It will be a while before I get that dialed in. Until then I prefer a regular stance mongo push followed by a switch stance regular push. Especially when I'm hauling ass in the middle of the road before I have to jump off and get out the way of the traffic. Skogging gets a little more intense when you run out of sidewalk. But right now it's about 0 degrees farenheit with snow on the ground, so I won't be skogging for a while.
Plus I'm waiting for my replacement bushings to come in the mail from the folks at Original.

You can appear to be running with a skateboard if you really try. You just need to transition step on and off the board. Really! Once you dial it in. Your gyroscope gets tuned into a new dimension of skateboard swing. You just got to give your switch step to the skog gods and make it daily routine.

Hi Tom!
Had a great skog a few nights ago. Around 25F with a chill factor. Been out more in January than I have in the summer months. This samoan likes the cold and sitting on me ass all day working on these damn things make for some caged animal feelings needing release.
Had a great yak about that era of my skating career.
I'm sure Adam might reciprocate links. Right boss? :D
At any rate, my new board is about to come out. I'm loving it! And I'm loving my bike! Ride it all year long!

By the way. thanks for Alabama shirts. I wear them skogging now and then. SWEET STUFF!!!! THANKS AND KEEP THE SKOGGING trend on the up and up. It's time to set fire to the world.

y0 nelson!! sweet! do't forget to try the run with your board step :)
i average 10-15 miles a day lately. I like to skog at night in mission beach/pacific beach area on the boardwalk. transitioning from edge to edge turns as you switch pushing legs is a site to behold when you add a little leg kick to guide your balance to the next one-footed carve.
it was chilly last night here but it didnt stop me from giving the late night joggers and bikers a thrill :)
thanks for joining the skogging ranks and don't hesitate to get others to post their new exercise quiver addition.
cheers! cYa

I'm really glad I stumbled across your site. I recently got a sweet longboard and realized that bombing hills on it is a little too gnarly for me. I wanted to just cruise over long distances, but the uneven fatigue was killing me. After two or three days of practicing skogging I got it dialed and ended up going 26 miles in two days. I love the setup I've got right now, although it looks like I'm running bigger stuff than most of you skoggers. My deck is 50" by 12", my wheels are 90mm 76a flywheels, and my trucks are super carvers that are 10" wide. Plus I've got pretty thick risers so the board is tall, but I haven't had any promblems with that. It just glides over the rough streets that I ride on.

Tom after 31 years of bad habit, an old dog can skog new tricks! All it takes is baby steps and don't forget to check out the HOWTO
And again thanks for the cute trivia rendez-vous at your superb forum .
If you can get enough interest, I would love to demo my system to those inquiring minds that get tickled by thought of performing such a simple movement that requires a complexity of talents to culminate the skog.
Many thanks again for letting me, BE MYSELF, AGAIN!

Hey Chris, thanks again for your interview on Skatealabama.com skate trivia game. I ride my longboard on city streets about twice a week. I have recently tried skogging on my long distance rides. It was very hard at first after using the same leg to push with for 31 years. I'm now getting the feel for it but I can't do it with much speed. Later, Tom Kinkle

Nice Miko!
Many older generation skaters are echoing "Skateboarding saved my life" around the industry. It didnt save my life but it has added a new spin to it with skogging!
Keep on bringing the skate stoke to the breakfast table.
