Hi Dominic, thank you for the offer of a monitor. At this point in time it may not be required, so don't bring one along. At a push, Mick Reiss might have one available that we can use. In reality it is looking like we might be manning the white boards for scoring!Appreciater the help and offer,Sam

The NASS Love Monkey Open Slalom Championships 9th GÇô 11th July 2010Once again UKSSA in association with NASS and Glastonbury Ales will be staging two days of Slalom racing at this year's NASS Festival at the Royal Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet, Somerset. Paul Nash and his team from Glastonbury Ales will again on site to slake skaters thirst as well as helping to sponsor our races. So pack your board, tent, and best beer drinking Vans and head on down to the West Country for the weekend. This year NASS will feature a World Cup Skateboarding Competition on the Goliath Ramp with top riders taking part - including our very own Sean Goff! There will also be street skating, in-line, BMX, FMX alongside a host of other extreme sports, rides, stalls and try-outs. There is a good music line up this year including the very excellent Plan B plus the usual mix of drum GÇÿnGÇÖ bass stages etc. Oh and for you that missed them last year the GÇ£LoadedGÇ¥ girls are back - ask Sam about them! (chortle)Camping will be away from the main public campsites in the separate competitor area. The layout of the site is slightly different this year and the competitor site is in a different area as usual Access will be limited to those wearing competitor wristbands (issued on signing into the showground) and will have 24-hour security. Note: you will not be able to take your car into the campsite.Relentless, one of the main sponsors will be providing an "Athletes Lounge", access to this area is restricted and access will be by "Competitor" wristband only. There are also numerous food outlets and stalls selling just about everything from burritos to cheap Vans! There are medical teams present on onsite with 24-hour cover.Photos from previous years:[url:1zstmgjv]http://www.flickr. ;com/photos/robs_gallery/sets/72157605651666975/[ /url:1zstmgjv][url:1zstmgjv]http://www.fl ickr.com/photos/robs_gallery/sets/72157624135 261554/[/url:1zstmgjv]NASS runs from Friday 9th - Sunday 11th July 2010.See the website for details here: [url:1zstmgjv]http://www.relentlessnass&# 46;com/index.php[/url:1zstmgjv]WeGÇÖre shown here: [url:1zstmgjv]http://www.relentlessnass&# 46;com/static.php?c=other_sports[/url:1zstmgj v]Entry Fees: (Subject to confirmation)-ú15 for one day -ú25 for the weekend (All proceeds go to UKSSA). The organisers are VERY strict on this. The format for racing will be:Friday GÇô Arrival Set up camp, courses and rampsSaturday - Dual Tight SlalomSunday - Dual Hybrid SlalomQualifying will be the best time of two runs, one run in each lane. Starting for qualifying will be individually timed, but in order to keep up the racing impetus, racers are requested to go within ten seconds of being permitted on course, with parallel qualifying preferred (i.e. racers going together ASAP).Time and numbers (and weather) permitting, there will then be bracketing into two groups of 16, A and B Groups. If there are any delays then a single bracket of top 16 will be arranged. We are not limited to a particular finish time on Saturday so we may be able to cram in some additional races as well as!Starting in the heats will be via the standard European system of 'five second warning', where, once racers are ready, a start will ensue at any point within the next five seconds. Anyone DEEMED to be jumping the start will be given just one verbal warning before being given the DQ penalty of 10per cent of the fastest qualifying time.Cone penalty will be 0.1 seconds per cone.If a cone is hit and remains either touching or in part of its circle then it is not to be counted as a penalty. If a cone is out of place on your run, then pull out of the course and raise your hand immediately. If cones are knocked out in front of you by the opposition's cones then do likewise. A re-run will occur. If these rules are deemed to be abused, then the organiser's delegated referee decision will be final. Even if wrong!ThatGÇÖs all for now but further posts about NASS will appear on this thread.More details will be posted once I have met with the organisers, Sports Vision, next Wednesday. Oops; typo!It is handy to have a secondary view of the results for the competitors. All too often the timer is questioned as to what's going on, so is distracted from inputting the results. A second monitor allows folks to see how they are doing during the event. The monitor offer is very kind!Sam

I'm flying out on the Fri eve from Gatwick. I'm taking one of my boys and I'm fairly certain that there's others coming on the same flight. I'm strapped for cash and unsure of exact numbers yet so was considering the train there and back, (just need the directions from Ramon again as I deleted last year's info!)Our return flight is the same time, 20:05 but back to Gatwick obviously!

Hi Mike, you probably already know the route to Thalwil out of Zurich for the Slalombrunch. Catch the train out of Zurich (buying your ticket beforehand) and then a short bus trip at the far end. Chris Hart or Ramon should post details. Ideally a few of us should head out and hire a tiny car like last year.Hog Hill - camping already reserved for the Sunday night. For Gruningen you again fly to Zurich. Thereafter it's propably best to blag a lift if you can. Jadranko used to arrange this race in its previous incarnation and was always very helpful in sorting out various vehicles for the foreign legions. Accommodation is very often free and is either in the nuclear bunker or college dorms. For Jurmala you fly to Riga (in Latvia!) and then catch the train along the coast. Jurmala is a beach resort on the Baltic about half an hour out of Riga. Accommodation is typically a concrete Easten block hotel with wires poking out of the crumbling plaster. Previously the Latvians have laid on a coach to go from hotel to race site. The site is new this year, so I cannot shed any light on its location, but Jurmala is a smallish place very popular with wealthly Russians.Hog Hill - Camping reserved but no payment down as yet.Brixlegg - Fly to Munich and the catch the train to Brixlegg. It's should take a couple of hours maximum depending on the number of changes. Check: http://www.bahn.deThere is a campsite nearby, but a car will be needed. http://www.alpbachtal.at/at/guide/14276 ... /home.htmlAmsterdam - take a rug, smoke something touristy and pass out in the street beside a Bulldog pub.Sam

my revised travel plans are as follows:1. 1st & 2nd May Slalombrunch in Zurich, (already paid for flights, going Fri eve at 5pm!)2. 30th & 31st May Hog Hill3. 19th & 20th June Gruningen4. 3rd & 4th July Jurmala LV (although no idea how to get there yet! Any advice appriciated!)5. 6th-8th Aug Hog Hill again6. 20th-22nd Aug Brixlegg (big IF though, depends on whether I make the grade & have the money!)7. 3rd-5th Sept AmsterdamWith the exception of 1, 2 & 5 the others are more speculation than anything at the moment. I'm on limited funds so it's gonna be tight! I've also got a summer holiday with my boys to pay for yet! My eldest, Dylan, also wants to travel with me and enter as many as he can so I've got to factor in paying for him too, (although not all the comps are going to be suitable for him!).Oh and there's the local Turn or Burn comp in the summer and I've a feeling it clashes with Jurmala. If it's the same weekend then I'll be doing the local comp, (means I could save a bit more for Brixlegg!)If anyone's travelled to any of the comps I've listed in the past I'd be grateful for any travel details you have! (Accom mainly! I need to keep costs to a minimum so camping is the way forward! NO 5* hotel listings please! ha ha ha)Mike

It will consist of a single lane timed run with start ramp. Each racer will have three runs (time permitting) with the best of these runs counting as final time. A Top Gear style leader board will show the best riders and times to beat. Again, it is preferred that a competitor goes within ten seconds of the course being open to them, choosing within that slot the best start moment given prevailing conditions. It is requested that competitors assist in cone-marshalling on their return up the course.[b:2zvc6yvb]DH Freeride & Race:[/b:2zvc6yvb] Freeriding will run through both Sunday & Monday, with the racing taking part on Monday afternoon with continued freeriding. The aim is to ride the hill as much as possible, even if you don't want to race you'll get to ride as much as those who do! The race will be the Championship race of the UK Outlaw race series, probably the only one on a car free road mind you. The racing will be run in a jam format, which means that you'll probably not race the same person more than once or twice & get to ride with people you normally wouldn't have ridden with. No standing around waiting for time trials here. Heat size is yet to be determined although at the very least it will be 4 people per heat. Given the track layout options available the course will change over the weekend in order to provide some variety to the event. The final race configuration will be determined on the monday. X in the City: 22-24th October 2010
On 2/1/2010 samg wrote in from (84.13.nnn.nnn)

We have very kindly been approached to take part in X in the City, a new sports Expo that will take place in October at the Excel centre in London's Docklands:http://xinthecity.co.uk/Currently in the pipeline of discussion is that we will run a dual slalom competition over the weekend along the width of the hall, with interim public training sessions and participation. In an ideal world we'd get a few of the slalom luminaries such as Richie Carrasco, Jason Mitchell and Claude Regnier over to help out with public interface. In reality we hope to run something similar to the Swedish indoor championships that was held back in 2008 that should include the Germans, Swedes and French amongst other nations:http://www.flickr.com/photos/samg/sets/ ... 988813861/Anyway, at the moment it is looking to be a 25-30 cone race acrosss the width of this:[img:torj11kp]http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2723/4321972250_e378b7d8e8.jpg[/img:torj11kp]What do y'all reckon?Sam
