Slide hill
On 12/3/2007 Shaner wrote in from United States  (71.227.nnn.nnn)

The soap box hill would be little to slow but might work for a smaller sesh. Something a little steeper would be ideal. Most slide comps are judged by style, difficulty and execution, but additonal smaller contests like longest slide or longest manual are always fun.

Slide Comp
On 12/3/2007 Pat Chewning wrote in from United States  (15.252.nnn.nnn)

I've never seen a slide comp. Would the Salem Soap Box Derby hill be adequate for this? Can someone step up and help me describe and judge a slide comp?

Would it be judged by style, or an objective distance type thing?

Slide comp
On 12/3/2007 Shaner wrote in from United States  (71.227.nnn.nnn)

Pat,

A slide comp would be rad and possibly give a whole different demographic a better reason to attend and possible compete in a Slalom comp. Maybe even have a small discount if someone wants to do both. I can think of a number of people that would be down with that.

Aumsville Bargers
On 11/28/2007 Paul wrote in from United States  (65.122.nnn.nnn)

I agree with Wax and Josh, or the notion of just don't do it at Aumsville. I seriously doubt you'll be able to control the bargers there, but I also question if it can be controlled at any skatepark where the event takes up the entire park, or the majority of it. That's the nature of skateparks and the majority of those who go to such parks. Remember, most of them read Thrasher and some will act accordingly to what they think skateboarding is from that image(i.e. - do whatever they think some 30-or-older person doesn't want them to do). Just my 2 cents.

2008 State Games
On 11/28/2007 Josh wrote in from United States  (67.169.nnn.nnn)

There are going to be 3 cross-country races in Portland for 2008. I'm sure Longboard Larry will hold a race or two as well. I think a slide comp. is the way to go if you're not doing park slalom.

2008 Oregon State Games
On 11/28/2007 Pat Chewning wrote in from United States  (15.252.nnn.nnn)

Believe it or not, but I need to start planning the State Games for 2008 soon.

Please send me any suggestions for improving the event (post here, or email to me).

Here are the items I can suggest:

A) Start ramps for the races (small, easy start ramps)
B) Park Slalom: Some method to prevent the rowdy locals from being such a pain in the ass during the event. Perhaps move away from Aumsville. Perhaps better communication and coordination with the "locals". Perhaps no park slalom.
C) Maybe add another event: slide competition or cross-country race.

Thanks All
On 11/22/2007 Corey wrote in from United States  (67.168.nnn.nnn)

Hey all thanks for the kind words. I think it should say Amateur champion. Micheal Dong kicked everyone's butt this year as always. I think we should break it down like this-

2007 CSA Pro- Michael Dong
2007 CSA Am - Corey Moy
2007 CSA Jr's - Spencer Smith
2007 Rookie of the Year - The One and Only.. Dan-O

I'm pretty sure this is correct (based on my memory of all CSA races this season) Congratulations to Everyone! Big thanks to SKIP for the awesome award!! Hey James you spelled Intimidator wrong.
