I'm helping him out since he has a lot happening right now. I'll let him let everyone know what's going on when he wants to let everyone know about it, but I'm sure he could use some support right now when he's not too busy to recieve it. No, he's not in jail, No, he's not in rehab, No, he didn't get into a car wreck, nor did the legendary alligator that lives in the sewage system leap out of his toilet and bite him on the ass either. I'm trying to post the race on the Contest Calender but for some reason whatever I write does'nt "stick" on the race page when I try to save it. I'll figure it out hopefully sooner than later. Therefore, all events will be on Saturday and Sunday in Salem at the Soap Box Derby Hill. Since the Soap Box Derby Hill is not quite steep enough for a slide competition, we will be seeking another hill in Salem for that event. If a hill cannot be secured in time, the Slide event will be cancelled. The exact schedule of events (Straight 100-cone, Dual Hybrid, GS, and slide) will be in flux until we determine if a steeper hill can be found in Salem. On 4/18/2008 BBQburo Secretariate wrote in from United States  (65.122.nnn.nnn) The Postponement decision was made this afternoon to the 27th of April so that long distance travelers know far enough ahead of time to come out or not. Here's the Opinion Question: If by some chance this storm diminishes early and Saterday morning the weatherburo at www.weather.gov predicts less than 50% chance of rain for this Sunday April 20th (like 40%or less), I'm willing to switch and call it a "Go" but I won't be able to check and make an announcement until 10:00am-10:20am. So, Is that too late? Does everyone want to do it this weekend on such late notice(like it usually was in years past due to the iffy weather)? The Weatherburo at www.weather.gov predicts 50% at this point for Sunday. The new projected date at this point shall be SUNDAY APRIL 27th I plan on going on a week by week basis on this until we get a good weather weekend. My wife said I was talking in a bostonian accent and "giving the business" to all the neighbors and kept shaving my head, drinking beer and demanding burgers to eat. She thought that was odd behavior and that somehow I was "channeling" and suspected something went awry during the vision quest. The witch doctor on our cul-de-sac was consulted and he had to do an exorcism, I guess, I wasn't really "there" when that happened. I feel better know, but kind of worn out. I plan to do this regularly on Thursday evenings ... anyone want to join in? I talked Martin Drayton into supplying a demo Gecko deck for the Salem BBQ thing. So if you want to try that out, let me know. I don't know if I'm gonna set it up with trucks, or let someone else who REALLY is interested bring some trucks and set it up. Sunny, no headwind/breeze, newly cleaned and re-greased bearings, it was the best. Some longboarder named Peter showed up and tried it a few times on my decks, thought it was fun, I told him about the BBQ next weekend, he might show up. We should start a campaign to harrass Capt'n Dave Mitchell back into slalom, Thorski too, not to mention Hughes and Dave Anderson and everybody else I'm not thinking of at the moment, like Marky Sellman, JP(not James Peters) and whoever else I'm not thinking of at the moment, like those Roe kids and that Moy kid, what's his name, Darren and those Stryker kids too... And yet still they skated finding peace at Newberg where the clouds parted and skating was had. (we're studying shakespeare right now, so bear with me) On the east side of WA, we're skating hard, maybe Brad doesn't have to move to Portland, maybe the game is happening in little ole spokaloo! On 4/5/2008 not Pauliwog wrote in from United States  (24.22.nnn.nnn) 5 skateparks, 15 more getting built, a couple of pools, TONS of great street skating, a skatepark in every suburb in every direction, and downhill like Mt.Tabor, ZooBomb, Rocky Butte, etc. It's going to take more than a parking lot to make slalom interesting for folks around here. The only way to draw more than 5 people is to make it dangerous and life-threatening. The Death Race is getting too easy - it's time to raise the bar!     Rate post 299860 !
