Hey, I have 2 events posted with tentative dates. I will need to wait until the Salem Soap Box Derby Organiation (www.salemsbd.org) posts their 2007 race schedule before having dates that are more concrete.
I am folling Stryker's idea in that the entire $5.00 of entry fee for the March BBQ and $5.00 out of a $10.00 entry fee for the October event will be collected into a pool. The beneficiary will be a CSA'er(Canadians included) with the most racing points accumulated who is going to the USA Worlds/Dixie Cup/End-of-Season MAJOR status race. If several CSA'ers(including Canadians) go to such an event and want to collaboratively use the money for car rental/motel that would be a good way to award the money as well if everyone is agreeable to that. I'll leave that up to a vote or Stryker can decide since it's his idea.
I will be BUSY for awhile this month but I'd be into a December/January nonrace slalom get-together at WSU in Vancouver (Washington) or maybe Seattle.

Hey John and everyone else, I'll email Adam for a code # and see what I can come up with. I'd like to do another Salem Season Opener BBQ with 2 different lanes and a timer on one lane only or no timers. This last Spring 2006 BBQ with no timer had a really good vibe since several of us experienced racers were able to help the newbies get their gear better dialed in for slalom and that would not have happened to the extent that it did if we had a timer on one(or especially both) of the runs. Hey, the Dixie Cup was a blast despite Chaput's negative assessment of the DHB's on the slalom forum. I had a blast anyway, Gareth, Nathan and Josh and everyone else looked like they were having a good time too.
The Competition was WAY FAST! I felt like I, Bobby Mandarino, and Noah all put in good fast solid qualifying times and yet all three of us got bumped down into the B-Division. Then I had a good first run against Gareth and then my 2nd run I choked and Gareth blazed it and advanced. Just like I did last year against Tod Oles. LOT's of younger 16-27 year olds which are in their prime just like we "old guys" were 20-30 years ago. It was impressive.
I think I built my voodoo doll wrong or something because Stryker's Mojo just did'nt seem to do really anything for me.
Anyhow, it was a blast! Schlater-P

Hey Race Organizers.... I'd like to start making plans for next year.I was thinking of 8 to 10 races.Starting in Salem in late March.Ending also in Salem in October. In between 2 races in Portland,Seattle and Vancouver. The State of Oregon Games in July I beleive? And Don't forget Hood River in the Beginning of July. Should be a Great Season Of Racing. I have an idea about a grand prize for the points leader for the end of the season... What if we had an entry fee of $10 per racer with $5 going towards prize money for 1st 2nd and 3rd Places of that race and the other $5 going to the end of the year Grand Prize.By the end of the Season it should total enough to send "The 2007 CSA Points Champion" to the Dixie Cup. Just some thoughts. Let me know what you think. This is all up to the majority to decide. Thanks John

Hey John,...... Since you and Jackmann aren't going to the Dixie Cup...........,and since I am going to the Dixie Cup and I got 3rd,......can't we pretend it's next year and everyone pay for my trip to the Dixie Cup this year? I mean, that only makes sense to me, right, yeah, I think that's the way it should work, I deserve something don't I?
I'll burn a fast clean run and lay down some urethane for everyone back home, 6hrs and 20 minutes until the start of my epic journey, Schlater-Paul

Malcom, Your Vancouver race was not part of our Race Schedule this year. That is way points were not awarded. The CSA welcomes the Vancouver group to add a race or two to next year's Race Schedule. The local race organizers will be diiscussing a schedule over the Winter and post all Races after the !st of the year.I'm Hoping next year will be bigger than ever with atleast one race a month fron March until October. with the winner of the Points race to get a trip to the Dixey Cup. We'll Talk more about that. See Ya John

i see you guys tallied the points for this year, you should include the vancouver race cause the top 4 people also participated in other csa events and we dont really have our own org. also i didnt see myself in there but i would probably be 12th anyways haha. anyways did you submit these results to slalom ranking or is this just a csa ranking kind of thing? im confused with the whole deal.
so i assume the season is over but would anyone be interested in a garage slalom race in vancouver if we found an appropriate spot?

Hey, Thanks John for being the official points-keeper. I'm stoked about 3rd! Brad's 1st and your 2nd were well earned to be sure, you guys blazed this year. As did a lot of people.
Pier Park, have you guys seen the feature on Pier Park Skatepark Opening Day on www.oldschoolskateboarding.com? Our own Mel was picturedthere since he's a local, but also hardly surprizing was DAN HUGHES. Is there any skatepark worth riding anywhere in the Northwest that Dan isn't there on opening day? Really.
I'm getting the Race Bug BAD for the Dixie Cup, geeze I wish it was already Thursday so I could get going-P

i must confess, that even though my time put me at seventh in the race, i'm pretty sure i DQ'd all three of my runs. so every body from Cory on down the list move up one notch. i'll be at the bottom, either on top of, or underneth brenda. which ever she prefers.
